I remember a story told by an old, weathered, but cheerful sounding man. He talked about his father's hands, how they were beautiful and knarled. I think he might have been a fisherman?
I've googled with no luck. Anyone remember this?
Thanks!
Thinking of getting a Space Moth T-shirt. Does anyone have a women's L or XL in this could could measure it? Shoulders, chest, and waist area? They have no size guidelines. I'm usually an L, but occasionally need an XL (and rarely an M!). Thanks in advance!

Love the Moth.
I've never attended a Moth event and there will be a MainStage in my city in December.
My question is, what do you see at the stage, exactly? Is it just a person standing? I was wondering about this because there are tickets farther away from the stage. they are cheaper but I am not sure how much the distance impacts the experience. Thank you!
Hello!
Long-time Moth listener, hopeful first-time storyteller in a few weeks! I was wondering if people in the Reddit community ever read through stories to provide feedback? If you're interested, shoot me a message or reply here!
A friend cancelled last minute, hmu if you can make it.
Trying to put one together for intermediate students.
I won a StorySlam over a year ago and they told me that they would reach back out for next steps and I would get invited to a Main Stage event to tell another story. Has this every happened to anyone and did you ever hear from them?
Does anyone have a video that explains what a Moth event is, perhaps a news story? I'm trying to get an event off the ground and would like to have a video to share with potential community partners.
By the time I discovered the show, it was sold out. Is it worth trying to get some of the small amount of in person walk in tickets? Does anyone have experience getting walk in tickets? How early should we be trying to get there? Doors open in 2 and a half hours.
Hi, looking for two tickets to Boston story slam on 8/13. Please let me know if you have or know of any way to get them, thanks!
Unfortunately no longer able to use. Message me if interested!
I'm looking for a story told by a guy that went to Africa and had an experience with magic. His guide gave him a magic belt that he claimed made him indestructible, and the storyteller wore it into a hut where a magic guy banged a machete against his body and he didn't get injured. I believe he went to Africa with his aunt. Also I remember the story starts with this guy telling a kid magic isn't real at a barbecue.
If someone knows which episode this is from, I will be hugely thankful!!!
I submitted a story via the website Pitchline on June 22. It's my first time. I know they say they don't respond to every submission and that they can't provide feedback. I'm just wondering if at this point they passed on it and they're not interested or if they have yet to review it. Any additional information about the process would be appreciated.
I think it was a moth from many years ago. He was a garbage man who catcalled her on the street. Later they met at a party and he was obnoxious and negged her Uggs. The reveal is that they have been married for XX years.
Thanks
I can't remember all the details but her story was so beautifully told and sad. I think she described how she dug a hole in the ground for her horse then lay in it and looked at the stars.
So I was recommended this podcast by a friend and went to give it a listen. I use Pocket Casts and it shows episodes dating back to 2011, however when I try and play the old ones it fails because they have been moved/deleted. The oldest one I can listen to is from March of 2017. Does anyone know a feed where I can find all the old eps?
I have attended story slams before, but have never attempted to share a story. I have one that I’m very excited to share, but I’d like to know how probable it is that I get selected so I have that expectation before hand. I would be going in Brooklyn specifically. Does anybody know how many people on average put their names in? Just a guess or estimate.
I ask because I went to a pretty crowded one in DC last year, and they didn’t even fill up all 10 spots, despite the crowd being pretty large.
I've got two tickets for Detroit tomorrow, can't use them. I've got them listed on Stubhub as well, but can knock of the fees here. Section 4 Row P (floor level)
Has anyone been to The Moth at Greenwood Cemetery in Brooklyn? I have tickets for tomorrow’s show and am curious how seating works. Are there chairs set up or is this a show we should bring a blanket to sit on the grass?
Why did we hear the people that found the people with the stories? Just felt weird.
Hey Moth-lovers! I was hoping to go to the show at Lincoln Hall on Monday, and my friend bought the very last ticket before the rest of us could get ours and she doesn’t want to go alone. If anyone is interested in buying it off her let me know! Thanks!
I've always been somewhat bothered by The Moth's disclaimer that their stories are "true as remembered and affirmed by the storytellers." Such phrasing makes it sound like they've been verified, when, reflecting on the actual meaning, it is the exact opposite.
Things especially seemed off when Sunny Jacobs said that her husband had been executed, then - with her - exonerated. That doesn't happen. There have likely been many wrongly executed people in history, but the government doesn't bother to legally review their cases after death. So I looked him up on Wikipedia, and saw the many things Jacobs didn't mention: He was a convicted rapist, thief, and captor on parole, caught with a gun in his car, one Jacobs bought for her him, since he couldn't legally obtain one. Since the officers at the scene were killed, the car's passengers pointed the fingers at one another, presumably without any solid proof aside from her husband having the murder weapon at the time of their arrest and attempting to cover up and flee from the crime. That's something, but it's a far cry from Sunny's characterization of two people caught in the wrong place at the wrong time.
The Moth should not be spreading easily debunked misinformation from a woman trying to rehabilitate the memory of her executed husband. Jacobs herself was never exonerated, contrary to her claims, but merely plead down to the point of being able to be released. In fact, the court document that led her release tells the story of her husband struggling with the officer trying to detain him, then shooting him multiple times, with Sunny's help. That's not a surprise, since appeals generally deal with matters of procedure, not fact, but that also means it's not exoneration.
(As a side note, that doesn't mean the death penalty was appropriate; even the jury didn't recommend it, and Jesse's execution was so gruesome - reportedly sabotaged - that many people thought it inspired Steven King's The Green Mile, although Jesse was white, unlike the protagonist in the book.)
Looking for 2 tickets to tonight’s show in Philly! (4/2/24)
Hello. I am looking for an episode of the Moth I listened to on NPR few years back. I was unable to find it searching the internet, on the moth app or after contacting their FB page. This is my last attempt and I hope you can help. The episode is narrated by a man who lived in LA, guessing in the early 80’s to early 90’s, in a rough neighborhood. He has just had a newborn and he was often visited by a little girl who lived in the same building. It seemed that she was neglected by her parents and she was mentally challenged. She liked to play with the baby and one catch phrase thru out the episode is the girl always asking the man: What is your baby name? He eventually stops letting her into his house because he was worried of troubles from her family and wanted to isolate from the neighborhood that started getting sketchier with the news of a serial killer targeting children. The girl ends up missing and she was later found dead. The serial killer was someone who lived near by. The episode was an attempt by the author to ask forgiveness from the little girl. His feeling of guilt was very honest. He ends up crying as he was about to finish telling her tragic story. I am looking for her name, the author name and the name of the episode. Thank you in advance.
Just wondering if anyone needs to find a new home for 2 tickets to next week's grandSLAM. Thanks!
Other than on this sub, is there anywhere else one should check to see if there are last minute tickets available? Not sure if the ticket platform has a resale option, or perhaps when they’re gone they’re gone. Just want to know my options when the time comes!
Can you just attend the events or do you have to perform? I want to get a ticket for one next week but don’t want to perform just want to watch people
Anyone have tickets for the Thursday 29th or know where to get resale tickets?
Not even sure it was on the moth, but I remember, and I’m trying to find a story that I heard. It was a female storyteller talking about how when she was a kid she met another clarinet(?) player on the way to band camp, and it turns out she became Lady Gaga.
