So I got some dried moss for my terrrium and these guys suddenly popped out.

So yeah, git some dried moss about 5 days ago and just today, these guys popped out? Can anybody tell me what they are? Any help would be appreciated.

Native Plants (Midwest USA)

I want to build my terrarium with mostly/all native plants, and I was wondering what types of plants I could expect to do well in a terrarium? Would things continue to flower? Should I opt for evergreens? Should I simulate seasons with the light? Any advice is appreciated!

Collared lizard feeding

Im planning on taking 2 collared lizards. On the internet i found that i should feed them every other day. What if im gone for a couple days or a week, do need to ask someone else to feed them in the meantime? or can i feed them something large like a mouse before i leave or maybe leave some food in de terrarium with them while im gone?

Just a vibe check, is this a normal amount of springs for a small closed terrarium? Is it normal for them to hang out on the glass just above the ground?

There’s about 3 times as many springs as you can see in this picture, give or take

My snail escaped.

I was giving the terrarium some oxygen as it wasn't doing too well, and i placed something over the top so the snails wouldn't escape, but in 20m they had gone. I managed to save and return one snail, but i lost my lil guy i've had for 2 months.

Pay respects to Slime Climb in the comments (he's named after the fall guys round).

Moss growing up instead of around?

I’m pretty new to terrariums, I’ve had one in a mason jar for about a year. I put in a weed from my backyard and recently put some moss in about 2 months ago. I’ve noticed the moss is growing up instead of spreading. Am I doing something wrong?

RIP to my oldest terrarium.

My oldest terrarium completely died recently. The picture is what it looked like towards the end of summer 2023. The Boston Fern started out as a baby plant about 3 years ago and spread all over, and the red Fittonia was a house plant I'd had for about 6 years previous to adding it to this build. It had another species of fittonia and string of turtles, as well as Bun Moss. It also had springtails and isopods.

I made this about 3 years ago and towards the end of last summer it got a mold outbreak, I tried my best to combat it but, unfortunately, I lost. I eventually tried to keep the lid off to help air it out and I cleaned what I could but before long everything died. I don't know if it was shock to the plants with the plummeting temperatures of winter creeping in, along with the mold and sudden drop in moisture with the lid being off, but it eventually went from a vibrant green ecosystem to a dingy lifeless brown nothingness.

I recently decided to re-do the whole thing and experiment with moss and plants found locally in the UK, as well as some cuttings from other well established terrariums, including my favourite plant of all time...Oakleaf Ficus. Fingers crossed my new one lasts longer!

Okay, what now?

Turns out if you want to build something and it takes one month to deliver a terrarium, you should take a note what idea you had when ordering!

So, dear /r/terrariums, what would you do I here? My aim was to build paludarium with some nice pond on the bottom, no animals, probably some hypnum moss and a waterfall. Does anyone have ideas or inspirations that could help me a little bit with planning? I also have lots (like, really a lot) black slate which could be used. It's size is 45x45x90cm.

Does copper kill terrariums?

Used copper mesh as a divider between the pumice rocks at the bottom and the substrate layer, to keep a space for excess moisture to go, and to make the substrate not mix with the stones, I know copper sulfate can be used to kill plant and animal life, but will this negatively affect my terrarium?

Drift wood sterilization

Found this beautiful piece of drift wood for my 1st terrarium. How should sterilize it to avoid mold? This is clearly full of funky stuff. Oven?
