I've looked into both of these options for the sliding front doors for the tegu enclosure build I am doing. Currently leaning toward quarter inch thick tempered glass. Opinions? Thoughts?
I have a Columbian tegu, he’s definitely on the smaller side for his age. He is extremely picky, I’ve tried holding off on his feeding to kick in his instincts to eat whatever is moving near him such as bugs or critters & he doesn’t take the bait. He used to eat a bunch & of all sorts when he was younger. He’s not sickly in a skinny way but I’m afraid for future so wait to prepare. Any advice on encouraging him to want to eat more, I’d appreciate it. I’ve gotten him to eat a couple silversides recently tho(new food item to menu).
My Argentine/red hybrid tegu, Lebron James, is a rescue. He was kept in subpar conditions, but we upgraded him to a properly sized enclosure with proper lighting and UVB. His previous owner said he had cage aggression, but he was being kept in a 1.5x7x2. He said he would lunge at him when he was ready to be handled or fed. The aggression has gone away with the upgrade, but now that he has the space, he is a very messy eater. We hand feed him with a metal spoon, as opposed to a plate. He has an easier time eating this way but we are worried about long term damage to his teeth. Does anyone have any experience or advice regarding this? Thanks so much in advance!
I have a 9 month old tegu and she isn't fond of most foods. she refuses to eat bugs (I've only tried mealworms, superworms, and dubias) she doesn't like any fruit, the only veggies she wants is mustard greens. she eats ground chicken and mice really well but I don't know how to get her to eat anything but that. help?
I just moved my tegu outdoor. Before moving, he walking normal, very active. Then the next morning, I noticed his right front leg was like injured (he can't support it when he walks/crawl) then this morning, that right leg is strong but now the left front leg's like that one that got injury.
I'm pretty sure that it was the right front leg the other day, and now it is the left that acting strange.
I got my argentine b & w tegu in september for my birthday (it was born in late july) and want to know how big a 9 month old tegu should be? (unsure if its a female or male)
currently my tegu is about 26~ inches and im worried its a big small, it also just started becoming more active after slowing down for winter.
also its stomach has a yellow tint, is that normal?
Just got a itty bitty baby! She’s in a 70 gal tank (she’s about 8” long) currently, I want to see your builds for future ideas on upgrading. Dimensions would be helpful 🙏
I am doing a lot of research on tegu care as I plan to get one sometime this summer when I have its enclosure ready and I was wondering if you guys have any helpful tips that I may not find on my own research. Any helpful information would be great thanks. 😊
I’ve got a male tegu who’s about 3.5 years old. Just recently, (over the past 3 or 4 weeks) it’s like he has switched time zones. Historically he would wake up around 8am and go to bed around 7 or so. He pretty much operated in daylight hours.
3 or 4 weeks ago he started sleeping in until 1 or 2 pm and staying up until almost midnight. Other than the change to his schedule nothing has changed. He’s eating, drinking, and venting like normal. His attitude is the same.
Anyone else dealt with a Tegu who acts like he suddenly switched time zones?
Is my Harvey a dude or a chic? Breeder told me male but im having my doubts. I know the picture might not be the best to tell but he or she does not like being held upside-down
SO SORRY but I just adopted a 1 year old blue argentine albino tegu. And I got her everything! Big enclosure, raw turkey, mice, everything. And she ate yesterday and then pooped today and I noticed when I went to feed her today. Is this like. The normal way it should look? Only reason it raised concern is due to the way it looks a little watery and slightly yellow.
(Also I have her with the correct UVB and heat etc.)
I’m just not sure what the actual difference is for a Blue tegu vs Black and White Tegu… is it albino, is it just a morph, how in the world do I guarantee I’m getting a blue tegu?
