Fluffy, formerly known as Lucius is so ready for a new home. He didn’t need too much work to socialize him at all but as you can see he’s quite content. He’s been sitting here for about an hour just watching, sleeping and hanging out. Hopefully his new home will love him just as much.
What a proud, proud boy he is.
Throwback from 2020, Pubba is stunning as bacon and eggs in the bottom right 🥰
So i got her recently at an expo but she is very shy I've been feeding her by placing the tongs in the enclosure and dropping food near her. But I don't know if I'm supposed to try to handle her as I've never owned a tegu and I've gotten conflicting advice.
I was shopping for a baby tegu. Happened upon this 1 yo Red Argentine. Her given name is Lychee. Not 100% she's female. Going to check a little close once she's had a chance to settle in. She is rambunctious but doesn't mind being handled.
More please
I know it's my second post about stress I just really want my gu to be comfortable. He's laying on my belly right now with his eyes closed under my shirt, and I don't think he's breathing heavily and he's not squirming or moving, and he isn't huffing but I heard that sometimes closing his eyes is a sign of stress when being handled?
Head empty but he’s a sweetheart
I got a tegu off morph market this summer after I spent a year planning and choosing the right one and the one I picked I got so attached to just from photos. So I pick him up from the fedex ship center and bring him home and after I unboxed him I was surprised the seller did the not specify that he had a BAD of an underbite with protruding gums nor did he show me photos of my tegus gums to warn me. My boy is undeniably sweet so I didn't want to cause a hassle but I did let seller know that I really wish he would have shown me pictures of my tegus mouth and prepared me for how obnoxious it was going to be to wake up every day and have to use a mix of q-tips and water on exposed his gums and very gently clean so the substrate doesn't build up on the tissie and cause an infection. What I'm really looking for is some advice on this situation, is there an easier way to manage his mouth and keep substrate from sticking to his gums and causing any issues?
So my boy is about 12 years old and has been dropping weight and he has less of an appetite and is only pooping out urate. So I took him to the vet and they think he somehow got parasites. They have me two doses in syringes. Tried to get him to let me put the syringe in his mouth but he wasn't having it and was ready to fight about it. So I liked the syringe into his food. He takes one today and another in a week. Here's my problem I mimixed it into his Mashup of turkey m veggies but he only ate half of what I gave him. I can't convince him to eat the other half. Do you think that will be fine???? Any advice?
First I'm so sorry for all the posts guys I don't mean to spam 😭 I just want to go my baby to be as less stressed as possible and Google is misleading. To initiate handling, should I wait until he comes out to bask again or should I dig him up from.under his rocks? I was trying to get him used to my hand being near him without me touching him and he was unsure and went back into hiding.
My gu is about 10-11 months old and I thought she was getting ready to brumate. I was rarely seeing her and she wasn't eating as much as normal. i stopped offering food about a week ish ago because i didnt want her to eat and get sick from it rotting but now she's coming out and basking more. Should I feed her or could she still be going down? I've read a lot but im just nervous because she's my first tegu and I dont want to do something wrong. Any and all advice is welcomed and appreciated.
Hello! Alice, is about a year and one month old. She is a blue albino and right now she is approximately 21 inches long. Right now I have her in a 4 x 2 x 2, but I do have a Toad Ranch 8 x 4 on deck for when she is ready.
I’ve been trying to figure out when a good time would be to move her into her larger enclosure. I thought about doing it now, but she has started going down for brumation, and she is also finally getting really comfortable in her enclosure after bringing her home. I’m afraid of stressing her out being in a big new space, but also don’t want her to be cramped! Should I just wait until she is done with brumation? Or should I just bite the bullet and do it now? Thank you for any help/advice in advance!
