I would like to know what is the best way to understand a techno substyle? 

At the moment I am trying to determine and understand the artistic direction of Berghain. 



I chose the Berghain because it's one of the most authoritative clubs in the techno world.  As is the Tresor. 



I think the most direct way of determining and understanding the artistic direction of the Berghain is to listen to the dj sets of the djs listed in the Berghain programme + do some research into the history of these djs.

But do you think there's a more effective way of achieving this? 



In your opinion, what are the characteristics of the Berghain's artistic direction, and how does it differ from other clubs?
