This subreddit is intended for posting your own personal tattoos, or your tattoos as a professional artist. Below are some guidelines and rules. Please direct any questions to the mod team.
WE REQUIRE:
- Artist's name (no IG names), shop name, and location in your title (no exceptions), no emojis or advertising. Keep the title clean.
- Color photos, well-lit, no watermarks, no filters, non-Instagram, properly cropped and rotated, close-up, CLEAR PICTURES. (Make sure we can SEE the tattoo)
- NSFW flags for NSFW posts.
YOUR POST WILL BE REMOVED IF IT FAILS TO MEET THE ABOVE CRITERIA.
WE ENCOURAGE:
- Posting all questions in the pinned Weekly Discussion thread. (This includes looking for artists in your area, pain discussion, tattoo placement.)
- Using the search function before posting any questions.
- Using imgur to post your pictures.
- Constructive criticism, discussion, and debate.
- Posting pictures once your tattoo is fully healed. No blood.
WE FORBID:
- Any attacks, advances, compliments or comments made on personal appearance. Keep comments about the tattoo, not OP's body.
- Hate speech (sexuality slurs, racial slurs, religious slurs) even if you think you mean it as a "joke".
- Any questions about whether a tattoo will "work" or how to add to your tattoo. Only a qualified artist will be able to answer your question and discussion on Reddit will only lead to misinformation. Ask your tattoo artist.
- ANY discussion of medical advice or aftercare, including possible allergic reaction, infection, or if a tattoo is healing properly. If you are having an issue with a tattoo, return to your artist or ask a medical professional. Any and all medical questions or advice will be removed.
- Talking about pricing in any context.
- Rude judgment such as "you'll regret that," suggesting /r/cringepics /r/badtattoos /r/trashy /r/ATBGE etc. Constructive criticism only.
- Memes, rage comics, reaction gifs, "top 10" style lists, blog posts, pun threads, and other copypasta.

Advice Needed: here should I get my next tattoo?
I have my next tattoo picked out and I can't for the life of me figure out where I should get it. I have two tattoos already, a life size butterfly above my left elbow and a sprig of lavender on my right shoulder blade. I really want to get a small two-headed calf tatt around the size of this pic but I can't figure out where to put it. I'm trying to avoid doing a full sleeve because I'm not a huge fan of that vibe, but I also don't know where this design might look good. Thoughts?

Advice Needed: What is the least irritating way to cancel a tattoo due to cold feet?
I've had an appointment for a couple months to get a tattoo next month, but I'm severely unsure about whether I actually really want the ink. I don't want to get it if in another week I'm still questioning. I already rescheduled once which is irritating enough but cancelling I'm scared will put me on the artist's sh*t list or make them feel angry that I wasted their time in the first place. If any artists are here, how should I go about it?

Question: Maybe a stupid one (fake tattoo)
I recently applied this fake tattoo and immediately loved it; design, where I placed it etc, I enjoy when I see it, and I am bummed at the prospect of it fading. I have zero real tattoos. Thus the “stupid question” is: this just means I really want this tattoo to be permanent and should just go for it right? My family is pretty anti-tattoo so it’s hard to get into that mindset.
It’s not like it’s profound or anything, just think it’s cool. Looking for some opinions and maybe even advice on navigating a “disappointing” convo with parents. Not planning to ask their permission but plan to tell them I want a tattoo in the future and get over it now before I have something I’m excited about permanently put on my body.

Are flower tattoos too basic?
I’m planning on getting flowers on one of my shoulders in a little over a week but I feel like the design is too basic or perhaps too girly for me even though I’m a girl.
It’s my second tattoo I also have butterflies on my forearm which I guess is pretty basic too but I’m waiting to turn 18 for all my other ideas.
Also was wondering if shoulder tattoos make your shoulders appear bigger?

been wanting to add more to my back. any advice?
i’ve mostly been thinking of a shoulder to shoulder piece or something going up my whole back (like a figure) but now lately i’ve been thinking of trying to start small with the one tattoo i already have. if it’s any help also i really like jeffree stars tattoos, especially the beehive and flowers connecting things
