🪡 Cherish this art with delight, the mastery of tatting, a wondrous sight. For these intricacies, a story is told, where shuttle lace craft, we forever hold.

Has anyone ever demonstrated or taught a group shuttle tatting? I'm thinking about a class at a library and people would have trouble with seeing thread that small.
My small pieces that i have made dont become misshapen but i have found that when i attempt larger pieces they become misshapen and don’t fit the way they should. I didn’t know if it was like crochet or knitting where you need to block it after you are finished.
does anyone have any good beginner paterns that aren’t super simple but are decently simple? I’ve run into this road block where I am not good enough yet to make large doilies/snowflakes, but i’m getting bored by the small patterns like a simple tiny little butterfly. i apologize if this is to broad of a question i appreciate any help that i can get :]
Any other lefties know an easier way to hold the loom? my hand was about numb and the leaf came out looking round and fiddly 🤣
I look at a few, no a lot of other sites. I do tat, and my work is clumsy. This site is always positive , helpful and encouraging. Many others are not. I want to congratulate this group. It is not only positive, helpful, encouraging, it is informative. This is what a social media site should always try to attain. I have my bag of tatting material by my side as I read these beautiful posts of love and encouragement.
I'm a beginning needle tatter who is very satisfied with the straightforward nature of needle tatting, and comforted by the consistency and ease with which I can create double stitches and picos on a tatting needle.
Dazzled by the big city bright lights of shuttle tatting..... (picture neon signs of various colors, each with a message equally as hot loud as the buzz of the neon running within: "NEW! STATE OF THE ART! THE /BLEEDING/ EDGE,") I placed an order for a lovely sapphire Handy Hands static bobbin shuttle and awaited within baited breath, all the while praying to the Prime Gods of the Amazon that it would arrive within 24 hours (as has been promised by the Scriptures).
My shuttle arrived unceremoniously the next day without even a knock on my door to alert me that I was about to take a giant leap into the future of tatting.
Or so I thought. Unlike my journey into needle tatting I couldn't make a double stitch to save my life after 3 or 4 very (extremely) simple and clear tutorials on how to begin tatting with a shuttle.
Back to the present. I am now very much intimidated and discouraged still about using the shuttle and feel genuinely that if I had started out with a shuttle and not the needle I would have never pursued tatting past the first few failures.
Can anyone empathize or give me some advice? I would really like to commit to becoming proficient at tatting. I'm not usually one to give up so easily.
Hi! I just recently found out about tatting, I’ve been watching some videos and I really would like to try it. What are some ways I can improvise a shuttle? I saw one with cardboard but I’d like to know if there are other ways.
I don’t know if where I live I will be able to find a proper shuttle in case I end up loving the craft, so if there is a way to do a nice and decent shuttle I would appreciate it :) thank you

My first large project. This pattern is by Roselyn Hobbs (https://urbanknotdesign.wordpress.com/free-tatting-patterns/one-shuttle-doily/)
Yes, there are mistakes and I wasn’t always consistent with the picots, but I’m happy to have learned more and become more comfortable at tatting.
I just started out last night practicing the very basics and here’s the first decent line I’ve been able to make with a couple picots so far! My main issue right now is occasionally forgetting if my last knot was an over or underhand. How do I read my last stitch to know what I just did?
What are your favorite stiffeners or starches? What's non-acidic so pieces won't change color over time?
I know where I can probably get museum quality frames and backing for any pieces that should be framed. So they won't yellow. I always test with an acid test pen or kit
I'm curious about things that are worn and items like tree ornaments.
Hey everyone I'm searching for the best threads that are easily available in Europe specifically in Germany. I've seen a lot of people recommending handy hands lizbeth but I can only find a very limited colour range. I'm wondering if anyone has some recommendations that won't cost me a ton of shipping as well. Thanks in advance! :)
TURNS OUT IVE BEEN FLIPPING MY STITCHES LIKE A DUMBASS BUT I CAN NOW SEE THEM FLIPPING WOHOOOOO
i was literally this close to giving up tatting but thank god i was actually able to learn it.
Hope wtv comes next is easier than flipping these stitches 😭😭
Would love any advice on what to do or learn next cuz i seriously dk lmao
My mom was doing a raffle of some mystery books for a fundraiser, so I made her a pair of bookmarks. One in crochet, the other tatted.
I just ran across this picture of a shuttle referred to as a “double deuce” and I’m fascinated! I’ve never seen one before (in my limited experience). Can someone here with more experience explain how this works? Is the 2nd bobbin for a different color thread?
I feel like I tat so slowly 😭 I know every pattern is different so here’s a scenario: a motif, in size 10 thread that measures about 3in across when finished. It has 3 rows and only uses one shuttle. About how long would that take you?
