Just got a job offer from regions bank as a Relationship banker 2, they are going to do a background and credit report, hopefully I can get that passed and in the clear then pass my nmls, no tickets or any criminal record, but my credit score is 661 and I have 2 collections on my report, one is paid of for $86 and the other is 467$ and is not paid off yet, will I fail the credit check and or the nmls? I just need to know if I need to prepare to leave my current job or if there’s no point. Really excited about moving into this position but so scared I won’t be able to accept the position because of that.. I’m working on paying it off it was from 4 years ago and honestly completely forgot about it, it was medical bills I think..
I currently work at a call center, and most of the time I can pick up when a fraudster has called. It looks like I might have spoken to one, even though I verified him on the phone, and ended up changing his phone number and email. Right now I don’t know if any substantial loss happened but I’m still feeling that bad feeling my gut.
Does Chase offer its part-time employees (I know they start off almost all positions as part-time) health insurance? I've searched it myself but I am getting conflicting answers from sites.
Sooo about a week ago I made a post saying that I had two interviews; one for Navy Federal and the other for Bank of America. My virtual interview with Bank of America was last week Wednesday and I canceled it the day of and also withdrew my application from the position. The very next day (Thursday morning) was my in-person interview with Navy Federal. I was a little nervous, but knew that I was very much qualified for the position. I interviewed with the senior MSR and the assistant branch manager. There were two questions where I kind of fumbled on my answers but overall I think I did pretty well. I wore a really nice blazer and cracked a few jokes with them. The next day (Friday afternoon), I received a phone call from the HR recruiter, but I couldn't answer since I was busy at work. I called her back Saturday morning and left a voicemail. We spoke this morning and I am super excited that I was offered the position!! I was given $0.25 more than what I had requested (I genuinely believed they would counter my offer with a lower hourly pay so I'm glad I didn't cheat or play myself with mentioning a lower amount when I was asked during the phone screening). She went over my total compensation package which I am content with. Unfortunately I wouldn't qualify for the yearly company bonus since my start date is near the end of the year. Buttttt I start in 2½ weeks and I could not be more happy!! 😁
I watch my co worked count cash fast, I can’t do it fast at all, makes me feel slow, I turn the bills over and count from the back, largest to smallest and I can put bills together and know how much I have but hand count cash is so intense
So I opened an account at a new bank and it turns out they helped themselves to over $100, withdrawal coded only as "Legal recovery setoff" ("Other, Misc.") They weren't there today, I'll call tomorrow. Weird thing: I had $1,128.17 and they took exactly $128.17, leaving a round thousand. Anybody ever heard of this?
Hope it doesn't disqualify me for the opening bunus lol seriously
EDIT: I just noticed this is for bank employees, not customers, sorry. But I'd be curious to hear if anyone has experience with this.
Is it acceptable to dress business casual or is a suit required as assistant manager
I'm a new teller on the line for about a month now and Im super nervous because I just realized I cashed a check that was not endorsed by the customer on the back .... It's my first banking job and I'm struggling a bit and just asking a lot of questions to understand stuff and they told me I ask too much questions on basic stuff lol so I'm super worried this will get me in trouble. Usually I'm good at checking if it was endorsed but this one slipped past me :( Any idea what will happened ??? I feel so stupid. They keep reminding me i've been here a month so I should have everything down but here i am messing up. 😥
I’ve been reading some posts on here and I truly do not think I would notice is a check was fake. I’ve been working for four months, and I look into accounts or with coworkers if something seems off (large checks into accounts with consistently low funds) but I would have no idea if someone handed me a fake check.
How do you tell and what do you look for? I know to check signatures and dates/names but mostly the fully printed checks from companies have me stumped.
Would it come back on me if I were to deposit a fake check?
Pretty self-explanatory. Whether it'd be your manager, customer, or co-worker, has anyone made you mad enough that you got petty with them in a way you'd be able to get away with? For me, it's customers get impatient when they have no reason to be; if they don't have anyone else behind them I go extra slow on purpose and drag out the transaction for longer than need be because they wanted to make it an issue.
Some customers are understanding, some go ballistic. What wording do you say when you tell customers they will be a hold on their large check? I usually tell them before I deposit their large check that their will be hold for 7 business days and $5,525 will be available tomorrow.
Had a customer come in yesterday depositing a $10,000 cashiers check from another local bank into her checking account that only had $127.00 in it, I looked through her transaction history and it’s never been above $500.00. Anyways she was dumbfounded when I told her there will be a hold on the check. She told me “but it’s a cashiers check”…”from a bank” and “ I need it for business purposes…”
Then had another customer that wanted to deposit $25,000 insurance check. He was so pissed when I told them there would be a hold and he needs the money!!! He said it’s an insurance check!! He told me to give his check back, I don’t know what people end up doing with their check when they take it back…
Some say this is ridiculous and will close their account if we continue to put holds on their checks..
After nearly 3 years I’m finally free and moving to my banks operations department! Wish me luck! Anyone here with a similar position have any advice/tips??
I am sure I am not the only person who's FI uses Fiserv. We are so integrated with them that it would take years to completely leave them. We launched a new feature today, and it as been a shit show!!!!!!!
As most of you are aware, election is around the corner and you’ll come across some of those customers who want to sit there and have a deep conversation about it and as colleagues, that’s something we don’t talk about. In my experience, I’ve had a handful of customers talk good (and bad) about both candidates so far and if I’m being honest, I shy away from those conversations and focus mainly on why they came to the bank in the first place. I keep it professional and try to find a ruse so they can conclude the topic and see if there’s anything we can help them with during and after the transaction.
I understand the emotions and anxiety some people have as to what’ll happen once we see who’ll become our president for the next 4 years. But the way I see it, everyone is entitled to their own opinion and should do their due diligence on what candidate they’re willing to vote for. Because at the end of the day, we have to continue finding ways to make improvements in areas that need work and try to make the most out of today, tomorrow, and the future.
And I made a rule to NEVER discuss politics to people at work. I don’t come to work hoping to go back and forth with someone and hope to stroke my ego on why I think candidate A is better than candidate B. I do my job, make sure there’s no sensitive information laying around in every area of the bank, and go home afterwards not thinking about work. Or talking about it.
I hate NPS so much and after quick search I realize other companies use it too. Like who tf invented such a dumbass system that doesn’t even calculate the score correctly. How tf do you get a 10 in 15 surveys but only 1 bad one and your score is at 23%? Like wtf is that 😭😭😭 And wtf is that stupid ass question “How likely are you to recommend this branch to your family?” They always give us a 1 because of some dumbass reason like the branch remodel makes it feel cold and unwelcoming, the parking lot is too small, people keep leaving and everyone here is new. Omg wtf 😭😭 this literally has nothing to do with our service so how tf are we punished for that shit. The survey is supposed to be about the service they received not some other shit that we have no control over. Why tf are they still using this stupid ass system and bringing us down.
Hello all,
I got hired at my branch last year in the summer. 2 months after I was hired, my FI did a whole swap around of managers go I got a new branch manager and CGM. It was really tough working with them at first because I felt like they never helped us the way the old managers did. However, I just got used to it.
Since they’ve become managers they hired a new advisor and he quit so they hired someone else who also quit and now they have hired a third person. Exact same thing happened with the tellers where they filled a job opening 2 times because people kept quitting. About 5 months ago our head teller also up and left on short term leave because of these managers.
It’s been really hard as we have been so short staffed since people keep quitting and I stepped up to help out and pick up more shifts but I feel like I’m just doing everything. I’m responsible for training new staff, shipping/ordering cash, giving overrides, doing extra work like cleaning and organizing, filing. I’m also scheduled to be alone for 2 hours every single day in the morning at before we close.
Like I didn’t mind the money but it’s really hard especially me being in school still. The head teller is back now and they said they will keep giving me more hours but honestly I don’t want it.
Am I being over dramatic or is this normal. Pls help.
I have seen how helpful Reddit is in helping people, so today, I turned to the Reddit community for help. I am trying to get into the banking industry, and I have prior experience working as an assistant manager at T-Mobile and as a customer service agent at Delta Airlines.
Is there anyone who is working in any bank and could refer me for a part-time job, it would mean a lot to me (NYC or PA) mostly because I have noticed you have a greater chance of getting recognized when someone who is already working refers you. So if anyone can it would be a great help. Thank you!
AND SO FUCKING HAPPY!!! On the one hand, I really value my team and will miss them more than anything. I also had my handful of customers I genuinely care a ton about and loved serving/going out of my way to help - but on the other hand....no more loans!!!! no more sales goals!!!!!! no more business visits!!!!! no more being yelled at by customers!!!! I am so thankful yall. To those who are hoping/wanting to make the transition from front end to back end: it will come....I didn't think it would ever happen to me. For me personally, I know the #1 thing that worked in my favor was internal networking! I am well known within my (fairly large) company just because I network network network and I was told several times in the interview process that my reputation among staff helped me stand out as a candidate.
this is just a tiny rant but we just got updated today that the bank I work for is not allowing the branches to decorate for the holidays with an artificial tree, garlands, ornaments etc. only poinsettias 😞 they want everyone to be consistent so they're sending out standard decorations
one of our biggest complaints is that all the art got removed and no decorations during the holidays makes it feel too cold and corporate. I 100% agree. I am more excited to come to work when it's winter. 😢 total bummer we were super excited!
Hey guys and gals,
I used to work as a relationship banker for a bank that will remain unnamed, I did it for a little over 2 and 1/2 years and things didn't overly work out and it led to me not being there anymore, fast forward to 8 months later. I'm doing something new. I'm selling hot tubs making money doing it/ it's boring though and I get a call from an old colleague. She invites me in. We have an interview. Our interview goes great. She puts me in for a second interview, The thing is I'm nervous for doing telework part of the reason I had a tough time being a banker was I have ADHD and I found myself making mistakes that were always correctable and yet very frustrating, sometimes it felt overwhelming and I noticed a lot of times it was understaffed in the branch, anyways, I talked myself out of the second interview today. I mentioned how I'm not sure I want to be a telluride struggled as a banker and wearing two hats versus one hat just seemed very difficult, I'm not someone that always follows processes 100% more like 80%. I feel like if I did that as a tower it would come back to bite me.
Anyways, I'm feeling like a loser tonight because I didn't feel confident enough that if I struggled as a banker, adding the tower hat would make it much more complicated and so I basically sabotaged myself.
Just looking for any advice or input.
I feel like I might have disappointed my friend/colleague from before since the second interview. I was just bloody honest with my concerns
It also pays a lot less than what I'm currently making without counting in the commissions.
Just feel like an asshole tonight. Thanks y'all!.
Worked as a teller for multiple years and it never fails that during slow season, for my branch it’s summer time, they’re very strict about hours and not having any overtime. They sometimes even going so far as to say where “over staffed” and won’t replace any employees that we may lose. only to turn around during busy seasons ( holidays, back to school etc) and expect us all to run ourselves ragged and work 6 days a week, over time be damned.
Getting told off one month for being 15 minutes over time, and then asked to stay late or come in on my day off the very next month is such a headache.
I've only been a teller for a few months at WF and this month so far on the 22nd. I'm at 34 referrals. Is that good or do I need to keep doing better?
At the branch I work at there are only two tellers. When one goes to lunch that leaves one of us. We don’t have a lobby. Only drive thru. The branch is considered an extension to the bigger branch that has both, about half way across town. (About a 7 mile drive, really.)
Anyways,Last week,a lady came to deposit just slightly less than $10,000 in cash. I was already swamped and did not have time to do all that by myself. (Other teller was at lunch.) I called the head teller at the big branch and asked if they’d take it. She told me they could or I could give the lady the option of dropping it off and getting her receipt later. She said she’d come back…She literally just drove into the other lane because the line was shorter. So I resent her the transaction and told her she had to go to the other branch because it was impossible to finish right that minute. (before anyone asks why, according to bank policy we have to go through every bill and run each one twice before entering. With the entire building wrapped around,I was not asking other people to wait that long.)
She did not make the deposit all day. She came back on Friday with that deposit plus another one. It triggered a CTR but because the transactions were for two different accounts, and ran by two different tellers, our system had an error in picking that up until yesterday.
I was able to get in touch with the lady’s SIL (whom she was making one of the deposits for.) and she told me that the lady that makes the deposit is uncomfortable speaking English to us. So I ask her to tell her that we need her to bring us an ID and sign some paperwork it would take less than 5 minutes. She told us she couldn’t leave work. So I said ok. Just have her send me a picture of the id. She said she wouldn’t do that. So my BSA officer said to ask the SIL to just get the id and bring it to me. The lady had the audacity to tell me “I need you to understand I have children that just got home from school. You knew what the bank needed. You should’ve understood your job better. You’ll get it tomorrow.”
I spent literally ALL day going back and forth this woman. She was home all day while her children were at school but English not being their first language and her children being back from school were constantly her excuses. Then to throw her attitude in my face. I was done.
I know I have the right to refuse any transaction that makes me uncomfortable. I’ve been told that over and over. Yesterday got so bad I called the bank President because I was so frustrated and he was able to calm me down. But I refuse to do transactions for these two ladies anymore. They cause too much trouble and stress. And they should be taking that cash to the lobby, anyways. How can I politely inform them that we will not be accepting the transactions anymore and that they have to go to the lobby from now on? They never should have been allowed to come here with that much cash anyways but the original lady that was here (who has since retired) bent and broke several rules.
TLDR; Customer refuses to communicate because it makes her uncomfortable. Refuses to make any effort on her end. I’m not getting in trouble or causing myself stress for her transactions. Help me politely tell her to go to the lobby.
I have back to back interviews with both of these companies lol. I applied to NavyFed almost two months ago and spoke with a recruiter today to schedule an in person interview. The position is for the Member Service Representative. I applied to BoA exactly 2 weeks ago and got an email from them this morning for a virtual interview for their Relationship Banker role. Does anyone currently work or previously worked for these companies? Assuming I pass both interviews, I'm leaning towards NFCU for the company culture and benefits based on my research. I believe BoA starts off at $24-$25? I want to leave my current FI because I'm not even making $20/hr lol. Which FI would y'all go for?
I'm trying to find the proper term used in the context of cash handling machines (like ATMs or cash deposit machines) for logs that record when cash is removed from the machine. These logs include details like the time, amount removed, and other operational details. I’ve come across terms like 'Cash Removal Logs' and 'Machine Clearing Records,' but I’m not sure which is more accurate or if there’s a better term. Any insights?
Half way done. Sleepy
so i am new to the banking industry and i am so excited! i will be a itm teller at a local credit union.
i’ve never had banking experience as i came from chick-fil-a after nearly 3 years. next week will be my 3rd week (as we did customer service and product knowledge training for the first 1 1/2 weeks) and yesterday was my 3rd day of teller training.
two other trainees in my class came from other financial institutions so they already know mostly how to do things. i’m the slower one in the group to understand and grasp the material but i can’t seem to get the teller codes down. i can do the actual transactions okay (not perfect) though. i either type the wrong code or type too many.
my trainers has been nothing but amazing, they’re extremely patient and super friendly! however i’m slightly nervous when it’s time to go into my department. i will be mentored for a few days but i don’t feel too confident with the codes.
So my background is actually in technology but I got offered a job as Universal Banker ll with no banking experience and start soon. I’m already very curious on what roles (including any other career-field) I can move up to 6 months to a year from now.
What have you been promoted to or interested in that allow UB to pivot into?
I would prefer a more work from home or at least hybrid or back office setting.
I walked in her office to talk about my vacation for summer 2025. One thing leads to the next she notices I have no more PTO left and says “oh btw because you have no PTO left, let’s say you call out in the next 2 months you’d be getting a write up”.
Now this took my by surprise because I never heard of such a thing. Like hello emergencies happen, getting sick can happen, etc etc. I’ve never called out once this whole year. We also do have “extended sick time off” Which shows as 16 hours. and I’m not sure why we can’t use that just in case? I’m just baffled
Is this a real thing? Someone please enlighten me
