Very important

Hey everyone! I need a favor. My dad is currently battling the beginnings of pancreatic cancer and it would mean the world to him if you went to Sonnys BBQ facebook page and voted for the "worst tailgate". Vote for arthur, it would mean the world to him.

Tailgating questions from a tourist

Hey guys!

I'm from Chile and I'm taking my 3 1/2 y/o to NJ during October. Since we watch NFL games all the time I was thinking that it would be a cool experience to take him tailgating (as it's also something I've been wanting to do).

Since it'll be my first time, and I'm planning on ubering to the stadium. I wanted to ask you guys for help and tips.

Is my kid too young to go tailgating? If not. What can I take to keep him entertained?

Would it be cool for us to go to a tailgate even though we aren't tailgating per se? I would take a bag with snacks, sandwiches and drinks.

I plan on going to a Giants tailgating at Metlife Stadium, is there something I shouldn't miss?

What is something I could take to share in case we meet someone?

Thanks so much for your help!

[Seeking Your Input] Two Broad Tailgate Questions

I don't tailgate often but love every opportunity I get when going to local pro and college games. For those of you who do and don't tailgate routinely, I have two questions.

1.) As the host of a tailgate have you ever had trouble getting rid of the extra food and drinks you don't want to bring home? In other words, have you wished more people showed to your tailgate to help you consume more?

2.) As person who shows up on game day without a tailgate or plan, what's the best approach of finding a tailgate who might welcome you into the family for a few hours in exchange for a few bucks?

Thank you in advance for your responses

How do you store your tailgate supplies?

TLDR -->: My tailgating group is looking into new storage options for our tailgating supplies. I want to know what everyone else uses.

Background:

We currently have at least 3-4 cars who all tailgate together (Virginia Tech football), but we generally try to keep all standard supplies (paper towels, Lysol wipes, plates, cutlery, grilling tools, chugging duck(s), etc.) in one car. Right now we use large Rubbermaid (or similar brand tubs) for storage, but find that these come with a few issues.

While they can store quite a lot, the bins can also be cumbersome to move around and to look through to find what we're looking for. Especially since we seem to just dump everything in the bins at the end of the tailgate so that we can get to the actual game. By midway through the season, there's no rhyme or reason to the organization and we can never find what we need.

We've considered (clear) stackable drawer units, but these seem overly fragile for weekly transport to and from vehicles, and we assume that the drawers are like to open during transport, causing further physical damage or messes to clean up. Another possibility is something like the the Rubbermaid All Access organizers ( http://www.rubbermaid.com/en-US/shop-products/storage-boxes/all-access%E2%84%A2-organizers ), but as we've never used these, we don't know how sturdy they are or if they'll even be effective for keeping materials organized and more available for access. Also, we'd need to find a similar product as it appears that Rubbermaid may have discontinued this product.

How do you store your tailgate supplies for easy of transport, access/use, and cleanup?

**Edit: Updated to indicate that the Rubbermaid All Access organizers seems to have been discontinued.

Watch ESPN Tailgate question

For years I have used the watch espn app through my ps vue subscription via an HDMI cable and an Apple Lightning Digital AV Adapter. The new ESPN app where you watch through the old app does not allow for mirroring through the lightning app. The PS Vue does not appear to allow this either. Does anyone have any tips for how to get espn to stream through the lightning adapter?

Canopy TV Help

TV on canopy. I don't have a trailer we just load everything up in the truck bed and assemble when we get there. I have a nice canopy tent and I was thinking of using this to attach the TVs

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07G5LKM96/ref=psdc_760796_t2_B00BCRRUQ2

I found these also but they seem awfully high for just a TV mount. Any one used anything like this?

https://www.canopybreezes.com/products/thecamp

In the past they are literally on the tailgate but Wind has knocked them over. Sun can create a bad glare. If it rains it can ruin the TV it's just not a good idea to use the Tailgate so I'm wondering if anyone has ever used anything to attach the TV to the canopy. If so what has worked and what hasn't. Thanks!

A new way to Tailgate

Hi Everyone,

I am releasing an app in the app store and google play called OpenGaters. This will allow people the ability to sell tickets to their tailgate and hosts to attend tailgates across the country for any event. If the app is successful people will be able to connect with each other prior to games, concerts, racing, etc. Things are in the early stages now but check out my website www.opengaters.com for more information. Cheers!

Actually fun ideas for company Brewer's outing w/ tailgating?

Hi!

I am running my companies Brewer's outing this summer. We do the usual grill out, have tons of drinks, play bags and do raffles.

This has been pretty consistent over the years and it's always a good time but the event still feels like it's lacking. Does anyone have any other ideas that are somewhat business friendly (we're a rowdy bunch but it's still a corporate outing, ya know?).

If your company was going to take you guys out, what would make it an amazing event?

Thanks!

Must Read Tailgating Tips for Oklahoma Sooner Fans traveling to the UCLA game!

Tailgating at UCLA games is a unique experience since games are held at the nation’s most famous college football stadium - The Rose Bowl. The Rose Bowl was constructed in 1922 and has been the home of the UCLA Bruins since 1982. The Rose Bowl is located in Pasadena, some 30 miles away from UCLA’s actual campus in Westwood. So if you’re hoping to check out the campus at some point, be sure to keep this in mind!

The Rose Bowl is situated in a ravine surrounded by hills and mountains which makes for a lovely view from the golf course and stadium. On the flip side, this location creates significant traffic issues since there are only a few ways in and out of the stadium and most are small residential streets. Which is even more reason to get to the Rose Bowl early, set up a great tailgate, and enjoy the comradery of your fellow football fans!

Rose Bowl Parking

Parking opens six hours before kick-off and is first-come, first-served on the Brookside Golf Course which surrounds the north side of the Rose Bowl. Prices average $40 per car. You can pre-purchase parking at ParkJockey.com so you don’t have to worry about having cash on game day. There is also parking south of the stadium near the ball diamonds but most of the tailgating action is up on the golf course.

For more information on parking at the Rose Bowl, check out Parking Central.

Rose Bowl/UCLA Tailgating

Fans can set up one 10’x10’ tent behind their car. If you have a bigger group you might want to caravan in with multiple cars, so you can set-up multiple tents and have enough space for all your guests. No outside caterers are allowed on the golf course so make sure to plan to bring your own food or give yourself enough time to pick up a catering order before driving into the Rose Bowl.

If you'd like your tailgate ready and waiting for you when you get there, check out Tailgater Concierge's UCLA tailgate packages here.

Given the tough traffic mentioned earlier, make sure to pack up your leftovers and save it for the post-game. We’d recommend hanging out in the parking lot for a bit to let the traffic die down. The lots are officially open for 1.5 hours after the game.

A great catering pick-up option at the Rose Bowl is Newport Rib Company. Check out their tailgate menu options here.

Rose Bowl Shuttle Service

The Rose Bowl does offer a shuttle service from Parsons Corp. located at 100 W. Walnut Street. Fans can ride-share or take the metro to Parsons and then take the shuttle down to the stadium. Taking the shuttle makes it very difficult to bring tailgate gear so hopefully you have a buddy with a tailgate you can join.

More game day information can be found on the UCLA tailgating game day guide page.

Extra Tips

*UCLA Stadium has adopted the Clear Bag Policy. Find more information on what is or is not permitted in the stadium in the UCLA game day guide linked above

*The Rose Bowl has VERY limited food & beverage sales outside of the stadium, so make sure to pack accordingly for all your F&B needs while tailgating

*All rideshare options will have a pick-up and drop-off located in Lot H. Please keep this in mind when coming and going from the Rose Bowl. If your friends are tailgating out on the Golf Course, you may need to factor in a 15-20-minute walk to get to them!

So how does tailgating work ??

Hi, I’m from the uk and we have nothing like this over here. As far as I can tell you just turn up with your truck, get the BBQ going and have a few drinks and a party. Do you all share your food and cook for everyone or just stick to the people you came with ?
