Hello fine people of Swindon, I am coming to your town for a course for a couple of days with 2 colleagues. Which Chinese buffet is best, HongXin or YC global buffet? One of my colleagues is a fussy vegetarian.
I remember the old double decker Leland olympian buses. They came as either Yellow with green and blue diagonal lines, or livered in blue and white. The yellow ones were gone in February 2013, with the remaining ones being replaced by the current double deckers in August that year.
As I started secondary school in 2018, I only went on the current double deckers, never the old ones, so I wonder what it was like to travel on the olders.
I've loved in Swindon for 20+ years and know about Lydiard, polo ground etc. but this year I have a two year old who has watched fireworks on TV but is not completely confident on them in real life.
We'd like to drive somewhere where we can sit and watch over an area of Swindon to watch the fireworks in the car so that she can gain confidence.
Any suggestions?
I am wondering as swindon has decreased in quality over the years
Today I decided to head to town to eat at Damascus Falafel (a middle eastern street food shop) and I usually eat their shawarma, however, it wasn't present and an Indian street food gazebo is in its spot. I am not sure if this will be permanent. Damascus is opened every friday and sat, so maybe they are only opened on school weeks rather than holidays?
Let me know in advance next Friday and Saturday please to whether or not it is present. I am aware they could be off somewhere else to financially support themselves following the wars the owners' country is going through.
I enjoyed eating from there. Their shawarma unlike other kebab shops is traditionally made.
I'm building a garden wall and want to have a Swindon named brick in it.
My wife is from Wales and her father has managed to get a named brick from their local brickwork so I want a Swindon one!
Does anyone have any GWR bricks, or other named Swindon bricks, they'd be willing to sell?
Naturally, I'd be willing to collect - I have no idea how much posting a brick by royal mail would cost.
Link to where I got this picture of the GWR buck: https://uknamedbricks.blogspot.com/2015/04/?m=1
I nominate TJ's Cafe at South Marston at the Industrial Park.
If this isn't considered Swindon, I'd nominate Lantern's at Rodbourne Cheney Social Club.
I would greatly appreciate any advice for someone who looking move to Swindon, on the best areas to buy a house whilst ideally being not too far from the train station and where to stay clear from. Thanks!

Hi ya I’m wondering what this area is like never been. Is it a nice area? Much to do? The only person I met from here was very very quiet so I never found out lol seems like a quiet life?
There are two brothers who run the business at Mr Kebab in Park South. One of them owned the Fish Trident Bar before selling it.
They were good bossmen, but I wonder what their names are.
Anyone else who goes to Mr Kebab, do you know their names?

Anyone know if any dentist are taking on patients right now on Swindon?
I've been trying for 2 months and getting no luck calling various outlets.
It seems most of the big ones with actual bonfires are going on this Saturday, but we won't be around. Are there any actual bonfires events on Bonfire Night (5th November)?
Thanks
I miss the car park, that used to be located on top of the bus station. It complemented the look of the bus station and it made it actually look like one. With the car park being removed, the bus station looks rather rotten. When it was there, carfax road was opened and I remember watching the buses coming and going; back in those days I was a bus nerd (not anymore).
What about you?
Wyvern Theatre - Coming to end of life. (New venue £30m+, SBC haven't got a penny for it).
Oasis Hall - won't be replaced.
DMJ Tower - Requires £30m of replacement cladding, Council don't have the money for this.
Link Centre - Was only designed to last 20 years, built in the mid 80s, prone to regular flooding.
Swindon Abbey Stadium at risk of being demolished and not replaced.
Mechanics Institute - Still rotting away.
Anymore you can think of?
Hi I’m 14 and me and my friend are looking for a basketball team that plays games maybe even in a league that I could join in Swindon. Preferably if the games or training are played on any day except for Saturday. If anyone knew any teams I could join whether there’s trials or you can just walk up I don’t mind if you could tell me the address and the days and times it’s on that would also help a lot.
Hi all! I’ve gotten into a routine of going to the bouldering gym in Swindon, alternating between climbing sessions and working on my laptop with a coffee/snack during muscle recovery breaks. I’m looking for other spots in Swindon that offer a similar mix of fun and a good atmosphere for remote work.
Anyone know of places that could work for this kind of setup? Ideally somewhere with a chill vibe, coffee/snacks, and something active to do on breaks. Thanks in advance!
Looking for a gym buddy someone preferably bigger and needs to lose weight like me so we can support each other and workout. Ideally female and open to a west Swindon gym. Even if you've never been in a gym before and want to start easy that's fine.
Was in town yesterday and just as I was going to walk past H&m. This man came round the corner with a crutch and hit this lady with a pushchair on the back of her leg. The mum fell forward and her child fell out the buggy.
Made sure she was ok her child was bit shaken after getting knocked onto the floor. Got the mum a drink and the child a gingerbread man from Greg's.
Then I don't know if you would call them town centre security or what but we told them what had happened etc.
He diid it intentionally and seemed to want to get a reaction from her and others around her.
Just be careful no idea what this guy might do.
I wonder what planet is present right now. Mercury or Venus?
I would have to nominate when they removed all of the greenery outside of Wharf Green/McDonald's
It took a huge amount of soul out of it.
I decided to look at ofsted ratings at many educational areas and many were rated as "requires improvement". These include New College (both campuses), my one (Cirencester College), UTC.
What the heck happened. Considering a consensus that states Ofsted being biased, I am confused by those ratings.
Cirencester College is good, the teachers I had last year were helpful (except for my Business transition teacher, who literally discouraged me from planning to do A-Levels) Though most of the classes were shit due to me resitting some of my GCSEs (did not fail but needed to get a higher grade for my A-Levels) with many students who were troublesome dicks who did not care about their studies and use AI as an excuse, as well as doing my level 2 transition.
I was staring at my window then I saw a yellowish ball of light skimming down northeast.
