Hello dudes and dudettes,
I recently purchased the Haze folding eBike at Costco (https://www.costco.com/jetson-haze-electric-bike.product.4000025081.html) in hopes of using it to easily ride backup the Blacks Beach lifeguard road, but it failed to live up to my expectations.
On my test ride without the extra weight and drag of a surfboard and a wetsuit, this eBike required 4 stops because the motor shut off automatically due to usage limits... yes, I was pedaling a lot as well.
Since it does not serve my purpose, I'm returning it and now I'm in search for another option.
Anyone here that uses a eBike for this purpose? I'm interested in recommendations.
Cheers!
Yes, I’m sure the first response will be drink lots of water and pee in it.
Hopefully, now that that’s out of the way.
I bought a full length 3/2 wetsuit last year. I have 3mm booties. And have some gloves.
I am planning to buy a hood.
Beyond that, what else can I do to help me stay a little warmer in my wetsuit?
Ideas I’ve had or seen elsewhere, but wasn’t certain if they’d work:
wear a rash guard or 1-2mm neoprene vest under my wetsuit. I’m thinking wearing something outside of my wetsuit wouldn’t help. I already have these items so it wouldn’t cost me anything.
Wear a pair of polyester/quick dry leggings under my wetsuit
wear socks. This sounds kinda suspect, but I’ve seen other crazy ideas work
Any other mostly serious suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Wife forgot to tie down and board fell off near Scripps lot. She realized 10 min later and circled back and it was gone.
Hydro full 9’1 epoxy, pretty old faded had a 8 inch blue single fin if anyone sees it pop up anywhere…
Pretty quick for someone to grab it but 🤷♂️
Hey everybody, I just wanted to reach out to see if anyone could help. On Thursday July 21st at around 4 pm, I lost a GoPro Hero 10 Black while surfing on Law Street Beach. I was probably 25 yards off shore and the current was moving towards the north side of the beach. It was also high tide. If anyone comes across it or heard someone talk about finding one, please please please reach out. The camera was on a black head strap, in a waterproof case, and filming when I lost it. I will give a $300 reward to anyone that finds it. Thank you!
Hey SD, I’m gonna be in San Diego for one day this Thurs. Anyone want to surf?
I’ll need to rent a board. Do I need a wetsuit too? Wasn’t planning on packing one. Coming from NJ.
Any advice appreciated.
Beginner surfer here, just finished up a 5-class package with a local surf school. Looking for a more personalized coaching experience to better understand surf forecasting, selecting the right board/location and build on mechanics and techniques. Strong swimmer, good conditioning, good kinesthetic awareness(Pilates/Yoga instructor)
Does anyone know the answer to this? I've noticed between surfing Mission Beach (just along the beach, not up against the jetty or anything, I get that the jetty can magnify the waves in that spot), the waves almost always seem to be a bit bigger, steeper and more powerful at MB than at PB. My understanding of this stuff is obviously pretty weak, but looking at a map of the bathymetry, it doesn't seem particularly different between the two spots and they're basically part of the same strip, facing the same direction. Am I imagining this or is it a thing and why does it happen?
