Skaters?

Anyone in the Sudbury/Bury/Ipswich area who’s around 20+ wanna come and skate with me? I’m 20 years old and I’m a father and really want to get out every now and then. I’m just getting back into skateboarding and really want to find some friends to do so? :)

Moving to the Area

Hi Guys. Moving from T'Up North to the area for work in November so beginning the house hunt now. The job is in Stowmarket. I'm looking for recommendations on places that are within an hour commute. Ideally I'd like to be coastal but that's not a deal breaker if not. Somewhere where there are things to do and able to meet new people. Outside of Ipswich I dont know the area too well. Would consider Norfolk if its within the hour commute. Budget circa 8-1k

Church bells

I live in Stradbroke, the church bells ring the hour, every hour 24/7. Now I’m not complaining, it’s been going on for hundreds of years and I actually like it, what other villages/ towns still have this going on?

Missing dog - Aldeburgh

My sweet girl, Maisie, has been missing in the Aldeburgh area (Church Farm holiday park) since 9pm last night. The last known sighting was approx. 10pm on the high street.

Maisie is 14, she is mildly deaf & blind and requires medication. She is microchipped and wears a red tartan collar.

Today was hot and we suspect she may have tried to find shade in peoples gardens or alleys. We are desperately hoping she has been taken in and will be dropped to the local vets tomorrow.

We are from the Norwich area, so this is a very unfamiliar place for her. She is friendly, but may be very timid or get spooked given the circumstances.

If anyone has ANY information on Maisie’s whereabouts I would be extremely grateful. Thank you.

Ed Sheeran causing a splash in Suffolk again

Seen another news outlet slating Ed Sheeran saying he's been annoying his neighbours. Has anyone actually had problems with him? I don't see swimming in a pond as a big issue but they've made it out that he's the bane of Suffolk ruining the area for everyone https://www.express.co.uk/celebrity-news/1939194/ed-sheeran-slammed-neighbours-diving-wildlife-pond?utm_source=reddit&utm_medium=post&utm_campaign=reddit

I am trying to start a nano brewery, and it's really hard to find commercial suppliers / orchards in this part of the UK. If you know anyone / any place, then please let me know! Much appreciated!

Moving to Suffolk & Commuting around

Hey everyone!

I've heard amazing things about Suffolk and its beautiful scenery. My wife (32F) and I (32M) are planning to move to Suffolk from Manchester because She's starting her specialist doctor training (St3) at Ipswich Hospital, and I work remotely (but occasionally would need a London office visit). We're originally from India and have been in the UK for just under three years.

We’re trying to figure out where to live in Suffolk while my wife completes her six-year training. She’ll be rotating through different hospitals in the area (Not a confirmed list but - Starting with Ipswich, Colchester, Bury St. Edmunds, Norwich and maybe even Cambridge at the end). Initially, we thought living somewhere central might make commuting easier, but we're also drawn to a slightly more urban lifestyle with good access to London and Europe. Plus, we’re planning to start a family soon, so good schools are on our radar.

Here are a few things we're wondering:

  1. Do you think moving to Bury St. Edmunds (very expensive and less convenient for London I gather?) or Ipswich(only town which is central but terrible area around the station and town center is a tip) is a good idea? We love being around a culturally diverse and intellectually aware community, and we’re pretty well-traveled.
  2. We're thinking of renting at first to see if BSE or Ipswich is the right fit, but we’ve saved enough to buy a house if we find the right one. Is Suffolk a good place to invest in property with the potential to sell in a few years?
  3. We’re looking to spend up to £450K and want to be in a good location for commuting. Please help us with your recommendation of good areas within our reach

Thanks in advance!

Update : We recently had a few house viewings in Ipswitch, but were disappointed with narrow lanes and even semi-detached houses felt like terraces, outside ipswich felt great but would be painful to commute around

Does anyone know what is living in my garden?

We mowed our very small meadow patch recently, and left a pile of the grasses on the ground. Today I found this burrow/hole in the side of it - does anyone know what it could be from, and how I can safely move the grasses without harming it?

Friend gets sick at KFC (its not the food)

My friend works as a mechanic and they went to a KFC to fix something. They got violently sick, and had to be hospitalized for a few days. After recovering, they went to fix something at a Different KFC, and started to feel sick after an hour, and left before it got worse.

And its not just my friend, but a few of their coworkers too.

None of my friend's coworkers, and my friend, ate anything there, just there to fix something

My friend was hospitalized because their throat was closing up, and having breathing problems from their lungs.

Anyone else have issues with any KFC's in Suffolk

Husky/Lab mix in need of a loving family

My daughter needs to re-home her dog. She writes that Astrid is a 7-year-old Husky/Lab mix in need of a loving family. She is active, affectionate, and very sociable. Astrid enjoys being outside, going on walks, and cuddling on the couch.

She has lived with cats and children without any issues. However, Astrid can get jealous of other dogs' toys and food, so it’s ideal if she is the only dog in the home. Due to her typical Husky personality and occasional stubbornness, Astrid responds best to an experienced dog owner.

She has been an integral part of my family since I adopted her at 6 months old from the shelter. After experiencing a traumatic leg injury I have been struggling to meet her needs for a few months now. I hoped things would get better as time passed but even though I'm on my feet, I can't take her on walks or play with her without pain. She deserves more. Please consider adding her to your family, you won't regret it!

Some pictures of Astrid are here: https://imgur.com/a/LI6V5zU

(Shamelessly stolen idea) Does anyone have any good Suffolk based conspiracy theories?

This idea has worked well on other local subreddits so I thought I’d ask if there was anything more local anyone knew about?
