How much storage space?

I’m a biology student and I just wanna take some notes. I have decided what iPad to get but I’m just looking at storage space now. I think it should be fine with 64gb.. it’s also a lot cheaper, but my mother is convincing me i need 256 gb. I have a laptop that I can move all extra files onto when I wouldn’t need them on my laptop so that could clear extra space. I’m also not thinking of downloading any huge games.

How much storage do you guys use up, if you have an iPad too?

1st Year Student, Nothing is Going Right…

Hello all, decided to reach out as it feels like no one in my world understands how it feels.

So I should probably start with the fact that I grew up getting pretty good grades until Covid when my drive and work ethic were completely destroyed. Finally I could do whatever I want… then I had to go back to high school and I constantly fell behind. My mom decided to work at a 4 year school when I was around 3 and still does, so that I could have an affordable education. That kinda backfired when my grades plummeted. So now I was stuck with pretty mid grades, (3.2 GPA) so the school she worked at for me was unattainable. I then decided to go to Community College as it was a bit away from home and I could discover more about myself. I was actually able to keep up for a few weeks until I got sick and was out of classes for a week. In that time I fell behind and am still struggling to catch up. My professors have been really understanding and supportive. But I just can’t force myself to get the work done. Nothing works. That’s been sitting with me for some time, and then Election Day happened and that definitely sent me into a spiral and I spilled shit all over myself in a lab. After that I basically said fuck it, and drove home. I just feel like I can’t pick myself up. I feel the weight of the world, everyone in my world weighing me down. The pressures of losing my car if I don’t get a 3.0 my first semester, my girlfriend being an hour and fifteen minutes away, my car guzzling gas and costing $70 a tank, my sex life not being the best rn, having a hemorrhoid that has made shitting impossible for the last 5 months, not having a job, etc. I’m sure these feelings aren’t just me. I know others most likely deal with similar shit, it just seems like there is no break from the depression, anxiety, stress, and anguish.

Thanks y’all for reading this fucking paragraph Cheers!

Been Caught with AI Plagiarism, what should I do?

Hey folks,

This is a feedback from my professor:

" The submission represents paraphrased AI content. I may have to go back to re-assess your previous contributions and even the mid-term assignment. Should they also prove to be AI written, I would have to file the academic misconduct form."

Any practical suggestions to prevent this disaster?

Hi, I was wondering if anyone in the sub would be willing to take this anonymous survey for my college’s Sociology Research Methods class.

Copy and paste the link to get to the survey: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/SVSU_END

It is about neurodivergence and disabilities in the US education system, but it is not necessarily as detailed as it sounds, it just takes like 10-15 minutes to complete. You don’t have to be neurodivergent or disabled to be able to answer the questions as any neurotypical or non-disabled person can also take it. It is completely anonymous so there’s no chance of someone finding out that you took the survey. I’m shooting for 100 responses and I appreciate any of you who decide to take the time to take the survey. Thank you for your time and I hope you guys have a great day.

Career advice needed

I'M LITERALLY FINISHING HIGHSCHOOL NEXT WEEK.

So, so far I just plan on doing a levels in subjects I like (which are; maths, eco, psychology and business/accounting) and I don't know what I'm gonna do after that.

Everyone (in my country) is encouraging me to study abroad because the unemployment rate here is high. However, every time I do my research about possible careers or countries to go to I get anxiety. Its either the country is getting overpopulated or it has a high inflation rate. If its not the country that the problem, its the career. Its scary how every time a career that I might be interested in may or may not be obsolete in the future.

Your advice on what I can do to start thinking about my future without panicking would really be helpful 🙏

finding a part time or digital job

Hey everyone, I'm a senior high schooler from Turkiye. I finished my university applications, so I have a lot of free time. I want to work and earn money since I will move abroad for university next year. I was wondering if there are any experiences you had that might give me an idea of where to start.

I considered teaching English or giving speaking lessons through online job sites, I already registered to one Turkish job site and working on creating a solid curriculum to refer to later on. Yet, I was wondering if I could find some more options that can be done digitally, such as working as a paid intern maybe? But being a high schooler doesn't help with these :)

I would truly appreciate it if I could hear some ideas from you guys, thank you already.

Opinions on this teacher/student syllabus debate

Basically today in lab I was wearing Ugg boots, I believed this was ok because in the syllabus it only has in issue with slippers and just says “closed toe shoes.” Today my assistant lab teacher stated that I would get 5 points taken off for professional behavior for my boots. (These are points that get deducted and can’t be gained back.) I said ok but now that I check the syllabus it says nothing about boots. Is this worth debating? I have a 79 in a class that needs a 77 to pass so every point counts for me. My teacher who said this to me be is assigned to my lab but the head teacher is assigned to the other and people wear boots and crocs all the time with no repercussions. (We all stay in the same classroom, only when we scan we’re next door to eachother.) should I talk to the original teacher and show her the syllabus or just as the main teacher how she feels about it?

Best International University in Belgium for English Bachelor’s in Computer-Related Fields?

Hi everyone! I’m an international student interested in studying a English bachelor’s program in a computer-related field in Belgium, and I’d love some advice on the best university to choose. Here are the options I’m currently considering:

  • KdG University of Applied Sciences
  • Thomas More University of Applied Sciences
  • Howest University of Applied Sciences
  • UCLL University of Applied Sciences

If you’ve attended any of these or have some knowledge about them, could you rank or rate them out of 10? I’d appreciate it if you could give some detailed reasons to back up your ranking or rating—like program quality, support for international students, job prospects after graduation, or overall student life.

Also, if you know of any other universities in Belgium that offer English-taught bachelor’s programs in computer science, IT, or related fields, please let me know! Thank you so much for your help

best way to catch-up on missed content?

hi all, posted this in a few subs as i’m really looking for advice. i am in my second year of a BSc psychology course. my university is two months into its first semester and i have hardly attended any sessions/lectures etc.. due to poor mental health and the lack of motivation to commute in the mornings (it takes an hour from home to uni).

my assessments are rapidly approaching and i was wondering if anyone had any tips or advice on how i best go about catching up with the course material. i scraped by in my first year with equally poor attendance and don't want to continue the same pattern again this year.

i have four modules for the year, and each week i have a lecture, seminar and additional session for each module.

any and all advice is hugely appreciated :)

Is it ok to fail in uni?

Hi guys, I’m an international student doing bachelor of cyber security. I did well in my first year of uni but second has taken a different turn. It went downhill when a family me ever died and seeing my parents distress I started feeling homesick. Mind you I had not felt homesick before that.

I have to study as a full time student I.e 4 units a semester. I had requested my uni to reduce my load as I didn’t feel confident in starting the semester full time. But my request was denied. At last I failed almost 50% of my classes in second year. I feel home sick and want to go back but I’m so busy with my life here, it’s really difficult for me to go back. One of the reasons I have been failing is also when there is a huge assignment and I feel anxious I end of shutting down and just doing nothing. This has caused me financial loss and mental load. I’m starting to also get worried about my ability to get job after graduating or get an internship as it looks impossible with my transcript.

How should I move forward in my career path? Any suggestions especially from ones who are hiring manager, student counselors or people in my field of study is much appreciated.

I switched programs a year ago, and did not inform ircc

Hi, in 2023, I switched my program from one science course to another but the same university. I am meant to be in my third year, but because of that I am in my second year, and early this year I extended my study permit using my original acceptance letter rather than the one for my new program, so ircc expects me to be done by 2026. I was going through their page, and found out that I am meant to inform the about switching program, unless it would be detrimental to my studying im canada. I don’t know if that’s the new rule, or it was there at that time in 2023 when I changed, and what do I do in this situation, has anyone been here before? Please, thank you

Is tech useful when studying ?

I (19M) am studying in engineering and I've always been working on paper, but recently, my brother (22M), who also studies engineering bought an Ipad Air 13 inch. He said that it was a game changer, but I don't really know. Is it really that useful ? Also, I've been wondering if buying quality headphones is worth it ? Some people have said that the Sony XM5 are good. Money is not really an issue, I'm just wondering if these 2 items would be useful or if I should continue studying the way I currently am.

Thanks for the answers !
