Why does Stop Motion scare me?

I hope it’s ok to post this here, and if not please let me know a better sub to ask this- but can anyone tell me why stop motion animation freaks me out? First, I want to say how much I respect the craft. It seems so time-consuming and takes a lot of skill and patience which I find incredible and fascinating. But actually watching it, I get very unsettled when I see it, even just photos of it. Primarily clay stop motion, like Coraline or My Life as a Zucchini. I’ve also never seen Chicken Run, I refused to watch it when it came out when I was a child. However, I did watch Gumby with my dad and I remember liking that, but thinking about it now, I wouldn’t want to watch it again.

I’ve seen other forms of stop-motion, for example, made with felt or fabric- that does not seem to bother me and I find it fascinating. However, even human stop motion (someone sliding across the floor and getting sucked up into bed, or those types of videos) also really make me uneasy. I don’t feel like I have very many irrational fears, and idk that I’d call this a “fear”, because if I had to, I could watch it, but again- it just makes me feel really unsettled and creeped out. Have any of you heard of this before? Am I crazy? Haha thanks in advance.

I’m confusion

I have so many questions

How is this person moving around like this? is it some sort of stop motion? How is your bedroom so tidy? Can I play old school video games with you?

Help with model

I am making a lethal company stop motion and I don’t know what material to use for a hazmat suit.

If you have any ideas that would be useful.

I suck at Stop Motion which is fine, but I need tips on stop motion swordfighting (one sword is a pen) (tips on aligning sound with motion as well)

I suck at my class, gotta do stop motion animation. I choose to animate a swordfight without much expertise (ignorant I know). I have a storyboard to follow, which I will attach below (ignore my terrible drawing). I tried to follow the storyboard and ended up with multiple failed extremely short test run animations. I will attach these below as well. Problems such as stiffness, not enough movement, moving camera, etc. Does anyone have any tips for the motion, its hard to keep track of all the movements involved. When i try to move my clay model, it keeps falling down, as well as my action figure, though not as much. With the clay model, I'm not sure if its the pen or the loctite sticky tac sucks. I do have a cheap metal soldering helping hands but, worried that editing it out in premier pro would take too long. I have aluminum wire but cant afford to poke a hole in my set. I could bite the bullet and bring out the soldering hands or build a wired rig (not sure what size would be sufficient. Also, I was advised to film my character models on their side on the set floor, but I'm worried about how it would affect character motion and believability. I'm not sure what would be best out of the three previous choices. I just want to the animate my storyboard 12 second (16 fps) animation, then add sound like swordclanging, scream of agony and victory music. So far, stop motion is giving anxiety. Ill comment the other videos. EDIT: I can't attach videos, plus link won't work.

Confused about section in book about making registration brass stock for head mould

I am following the book Stop Motion Filmmaking by Christopher Walsh on puppet construction. Overall it's clear and well-written, but in one area I'm confused. After the clay head model to be used for the mould has been baked, the book contains the following instructions:

  • "Use the rotary tool to cut out the hole in the head [where the neck will go]." [stuff about cutting the hole which isn't relevant]

  • "Cut a piece of 3mm armature approx. 4cm in length. Push the wire into the hole, making sure it's nicely centered."

  • "Slide a 3cm long piece of 4mm square brass stock over this wire, and again ensure that it's nicely centered. This creates a registration for the soon-to-be created mould."

  • [a bunch of stuff about making the mould which isn't relevant]

  • "Carefully prise the two parts of the mould apart and remove the head sculpture."

  • "Pop out and discard the piece of armature wire from the neck area of the head. Ensure that the piece of registration brass stock is squarely seated in the mould, with a few mm sticking out into the mould area. The mould is now ready for casting."

I get the point of all this (you later slide a large brass stock onto the registration stock and cast the head around it). What I don't understand is what's keeping the wire in the head?

Using iPad as prop ?

I am just trying to create a birthday wish stop motion video for my girlfriend
Can I use iPad and pictures inside them to use as a prop for the videos - like I am thinking about creating motion with moving pictures and some other designs inside the iPad and capturing it . I know it sounds silly , but I am very bad in drawing props and as iPad already has tons of our photos in am thinking about using them . And also it will be easy to create virtual props inside the iPad.
Help me out
