Hi! My partner and I are new to Springfield and are curious if there are any mutual aid groups in the area. I looked online and couldn't find much which is pretty normal for mutual aid so I figured I'd see if anyone here had any ideas.
It seems like they are building new ones all the time! I think I counted 17 or so and N. Bechtle has just built a huge indoor one. They knocked down the one at Bechtle/RT 40 and the one on E. Main burnt down, but this was afterwards. Is there that much of a demand or is it a Breaking Bad deal?
5:57 pm a series of loud booms (different from gunfire) seemingly coming from west of Snyder Park. Anyone else hear them/know what were?
Hello Springfield!
I’m Pierre, a video journalist from Switzerland working on a project to understand how different communities are feeling as the election approaches. I’d love to hear from locals about what issues matter most to you right now and how politics is affecting your daily life. I will be there tomorrow Tuesday the 15th.
I know there’s been a lot of talk recently about animals in the city, but I’m not specifically focusing on that. Instead, I’m looking to get a sense of the community’s pulse as we head into the election, and I welcome opinions from all sides of the political spectrum.
The interview would take around 20 to 30 minutes, and I’m happy to meet you at a convenient location. If you're interested or know someone who might be, please don’t hesitate to reach out. Your voice is important, and I’m committed to representing it with care and respect.
Thank you so much, and I look forward to hearing from you! Feel free to reply here or on my email pierre.ballenegger@ringier.ch
Best regards,
Pierre
I recently spent a weekend in Springfield, Ohio and just posted this YouTube video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DWCdw5UyZD4 I wanted to capture the real story and not the caricature, in the words of people who actually live there -- so I spoke with lots of people from different backgrounds about what life is like there (before and since all the national attention). I really liked Springfield and the people I met there and look forward to going back someday.
Currently on AT&T home internet, have been on Spectrum in the past. I think both are massively overpriced for what you get. I’m a little leery about home internet that uses cell towers, though. Anybody have any experience?
Anyone else get letter from the Board of Elections changing your polling location? What’s up with the last minute changes?
The Winans block was blocked off and there was a big ass line.
It was a sort of group home/ boot camp hybrid for troubled youths. It was ran by a guy who used to play for the Green Bay Packers and it was based in Springfield. It operated out of 4 houses and had a big brick warehouse behind the main house, which was named the Anne (or maybe Anna) Francis house. I was in this program as a kid as part of my sentencing from juvenile court. I'm curious as to what became of it and the staff there and figured maybe Springfield residents may know more.
Thanks to u/berlin_blue over at the r/Ohio subreddit, the following links can be used by folks who want to help spend money for Springfield. My personal favorite is the Rocking Horse Community Health Center, but feel free to spend your dollars where you wish.
For folks unable to make the trek to Springfield to support their local restaurants, businesses, attractions, or arts*, here are some organizations you can send donations:
*e.g. Springfield Symphony Orchestra
Feel free to reply with other local organizations that are helping Springfield build community with their new neighbors.
Scouts will open at 3660 E. National Road on Tuesday morning at 6am.

Look at this, nobody can actually say they saw it themselves, just they heard it from someone. WOW I'm SO SHOCKED.
Do you guys have any recordings from groups or crowds of Springfieldians watching the last presidential debate that you are willing to share? I'm specifically interested in reactions to when your town was mentioned.
The local BMV offices have closed too. Thanks to all these rumors that literally were started by an out of state Nazi group about the Haitian immigrants in Springfield. Fuck Trump and Vance for amplifying this shit to a national level.
Hi, need some help here, this is my first time doing anything school-related as a parent. I enrolled my 3yo at Clark Early Learning Center on April 1 (first day of enrollment) and had our screening and were told we were set. Then I saw an announcement about teachers calling families the week before school so I called to see why I hadn't received our call. Turns out we were waitlisted. After our screening, I was told that we were in. I really don't understand why I had to call and ask just to learn that we were waitlisted. Anyway, now I'm wondering what to do about it.
First, how does a public preschool not have space? Is that even legal? CELC is my first choice, even if I had to pay for it.
Second, are there other options for free preschool? I called Clark County ESC and they said that they can't take open enrollment students now of course. I've had people recommend other preschools, which is fine, but I think all charge tuition (as they should). As far as I know, I don't meet any income requirements for tuition assistance. I just hadn't planned to spend thousands on preschool this year so it's a bit jarring.
The office at CELC said that if they have any students drop, they will send a mass email to the entire wait list and whoever responds first will get the spot. So far, I haven't received that email. I'm just not sure who else to talk to for answers and help on this.
