First off I am not involved at all in youth soccer so I am looking for enlightenment. I have had heard tidbits here and there about local youth clubs and their disdain for dealing with SKC and that is goes back before the rebrand and even before hiring Vermes but it starts when Vermes took control of Blue Valley. What happened? Did the issues then contiue after the hiring of Vermes and the creation of the Academy? Almost 20 years removed there seems to still be a bad taste, why is that? How does it affect getting the areas best to commit to the Academy and into the MLS pipeline?
If you could design the kits for SKC what would it look like? If you could use another kit company, outside of adidas, which company would you go with?
In light of Vermes recent comments about ownership being cheap and not spending on players, I started thinking "is Vermes the cheap option?" We only ever hear that Vermes answers to Jake Reid and the owners. There's no one in between. I personally think Vermes is still a good coach who is asked to do too many jobs in the club and cannot give any his full attention. We know he likes to be in charge and he wants to do this job, but it's debatable if should be allowed to do it all.
Vermes is GM, head coach, technical director, a scout, has scouting and oversight duties in SKC2, and in charge of the Academy. I know he's one of the highest paid coaches in MLS at $750k, but he's wearing a lot of hats.
When I started digging, good coaches are making $500k a year. Others with more to prove are getting slightly less and bigger names are getting up to $1m. A quick search on GM's showed an average of $200k. A technical Director is another $150k. An Academy Director averages about $100k.
When you look at other structures, the President and GM are often a shared role, but not always. Then you have a coach with all the assistants, a technical director with a VP directly under him, and then scouting and academy as separate entities.
So I ask my question. Is Vermes allowed to take on so many roles because ownership is being cheap? Has ownership kept Vermes because replacing him would likely add a minimum $250-500k to their salary obligations each year? Firing Vermes would require the club to hire a GM (Jake Reid has proven unfit to be a GM and hasn't taken on that role as president), a Coach, and promoting Mike Burns to an equal level as the new coach, an academy director, and a SKC2 director. Any promotion replacement of Burns as Technical/Sporting Director would also require filling out his staff to an appropriate size. With all the additional staff required, the franchise could easily be looking at $1m/year or more to fill out the staff and maintain a league average performance.
Long story short, Vermes isn't paid enough for the jobs he's doing and replacing him would be incredibly costly to the franchise.
Can we keep Ba ssoonng? Maybe, Ba ssong sa song song song!

How are the boys going to do on Saturday?
Are there any skc fans in Florida? I’m hoping I can get some people to hangout with during games for next season, my wife doesn’t like to watch it too much and my daughter is too young to understand what’s going on. I live in the panhandle near Destin
What are your thoughts on how Apple TV and MLS have done with content and the actual viewing experience?
Not only that… it would be cool to see preseason games (like NBA and NFL).
What is something you’d like to see added to the SKC app?
I think it would benefit the club to post all their vids on YouTube. I still don’t ever see the pregame interviews or the postgame interviews (only on the app). It would help get more exposure to the club that’s for sure.
Whoever is behind the “behind the shield” show does a magnificent job!
The offseason will be short with us qualifying for the Concacaf champions cup. It looks like it starts in February (not sure the exact day).
How soon do you think we will start seeing contracts being re-signed and new players being added after Oct 19th?
The entire defense giving up is a representation of how these players feel. I am specifically calling out Robert Voloder as he gives up and doesn’t even try for the ball. It is absolutely embarrassing and a slap in the face to the supporters of the club.
This doesn’t sit right with me at all.
Thommy, Russell, Walter, Melia, Fontas, Agada, Voloder, Ndembe, R Caste, Bassong,Rodriguez, Schewe, Afrifa, Flores, Rindov are all out of contract or have a team option.
Something needs to change with this roster. We need to find some players who will give a damn about the club and the supporters. We need guys with heart and passion and who want to bring the glory back to Kansas City.

sums up the season. cancelled my stm tickets and not spending another dime on this club until shit changes. top post on r/MLS right now is our back line standing still in front of the cauldron while we go down 2-0 before halftime.
