whats the easiest gta 3/vc/sa speedrun method to learn?
Hi guys, I have always wondered if I am an Xbox player and I broke a record, how can I add my record in the game to the site for publishing records? At the same time, I am hesitant to tire myself out trying to break a record and in the end I do not know how to publish my record. Please help because my mind will definitely explode.
... that are NOT current WR holders or contenders?
I was (obviously) inspired by GreenSuigi's recent ludicrous achievement of sweeping 5/5 of SM64 main categories. However, I wanted to create this thread to celebrate some of the speedrunners who have been extremely dominant in their respective speedgames in the past, but (as time passed) are no longer active/contending today. Time tends to be unkind to former speedrunners, especially as strategies evolve and it becomes harder to understand the difficulty of older WR's, so I wanted to present an opportunity to celebrate these formerly best speedrunners' accomplishments.
I'll start with one of my favorite runners ever: Nindiddeh in Super Mario Sunshine. People who weren't around in 2016/2017 watching his gameplay don't understand how crazy he was. During this time, he was the first player to break the 1:15 and 1:14 barrier in Any%. And when he broke 1:14, the next best player had barely gotten a 1:15! His movement (i.e., Sum of Best Segments) was MINUTES ahead of the next best player. In fact, his 1:14:40 WR set in May of 2017 stood for 2 years before being broken by Weegee.
Nindiddeh would eventually be the first to break the 1:13 barrier in 2020 before moving away from Sunshine. If Nindiddeh didn't stop playing Sunshine in 2017 (for over 2 years) due to health issues, I sincerely believe he would have broken the 1:13 barrier in 2018 or earlier. (In fact, his movement in the 1:14:40 WR was already fast enough to break 1:13!)
And despite all of this, Nindiddeh might not even be the GOAT of SMS, perhaps not even second, because of Toobou and [redacted]! So now I move the conversation to y'all. Who/what are the most dominant peaks in speedrunning that are pieces of history today?

Splice Detective is a software that attempts to analyze speedruns in an attempt to flag potential splices. The current version is a proof-of-concept/pre-alpha that only analyzes audio to attempt to flag possibly spliced runs. I began working on this recently, when I was surprised to learn that (to my knowledge) nobody seems to have attempted this kind of program before. The idea is for this program to be useful for mods (or just other runners and viewers) to analyze the potential for cheated runs, without having to load 5 different programs and going through every single millisecond of every run by hand. I think this could be especially useful for large communities that receive a high volume of runs.
The following updates will include a frame by frame video analyzer which operates very similarly to the audio analyzer. There is also a much improved version of the audio splice detection that is almost finished.
I recognize that as it is, while it does "work", it's barebones and throws way too many false positives. But I've spliced some audio together in Audacity, and it already is decent at recognizing exactly where splices are as it is.
So I guess my question to this community is: Is anyone in speedrunning interested in a program like this? If there is interest, I'd love to spend a few months on it and continue to build it into the best cheat detection software I can manage. But of course, if nobody would want something like this I'd be better off moving on to the next project.
(The proof of concept demo is available now, but it only has audio analysis up to this point)

Trying to find a program or method to unload games universal
Beginner question but how does livesplit know when a split has ended? For example, in SM64 how does it know when you’ve finished SSL or another level? Are the runners manually pressing a key and I’m just not noticing it or does the timer have some way of detecting?
Anybody here have a .lss file they would be willing to share? I want to be able to load someone’s splits and see if I can beat them. I’m an extremely board disabled veteran with time on my hands but I’m having trouble getting the right livesplit for iOS to get into speedruns
I am excited to premiere a project that I have been working on. This showcases the history of the speedrun and some of the sick tricks that runners are doing. Hope you enjoy 😄 I'm definitely no summoning salt, but I think it came out ok
I would like to get into short speedruns preferably under 45 minutes in Xbox 360 games with atleast a somewhat active community.
Anything cool happening in the speedrunning world this weekend? Into a new game or streamer and can't wait to watch more runs? Just find an awesome speedrunning YouTube channel? This is the place to tell everyone about it! Feel free to link streamers, YouTube channels, or any other related information here, just be mindful of the subreddit and reddit's overall self-promotion policies.
what I mean by this is what is the actual time for a speedrun number wise? I ask this cause I streamed my speedrun of Devil May Cry 1 and I ended up getting 1 hour and 22 minutes on the result screen but the stream says it was 33 minutes, do I go by my results or what the time of the stream was?
