I am adopting a small, 16 lb. tripaw and I wondered what harness would work best for walking them. He does great on his 3 legs since its an old injury.
Not sure if this is the right place to post this so sorry in advance, but I’m at a loss. I’ve got a rescue pit who has severe allergies and really bad skin. He is a super good boy but is terrified of the vet. He won’t let them touch him and has over time began to get aggressive. I know he only behaves this way because they quite literally back him into a corner and he doesn’t understand that they’re trying to help, he just knows that they’re gonna poke and prod at him. Are there any vets in Phoenix, AZ that you guys recommend who know how to work with dogs with severe anxiety like mine?
I adopted a stray dog about 4 years ago. She is currently around 10 y.o., but due to a sudden, autoimmune illness has lost vision of one eye entirely and can barely see certain shapes and shadows with the other one.
She was very active, and loved to spend day on the first floor of our house, but moved upstairs in the afternoon to be with us (almost all the stuff we use daily is on the 2nd floor). She would also follow my mother around the house, which wasn’t a problem until she started having issues with going up/downstair.
Does anyone know if she will eventually move around the house by herself or should we put a gate or something to stop her from moving around? She already tripped once and since she’s a large dog I’m afraid she could get hurt, but I’m also afraid that restraining her activity might be bad for her.
She was a stray for most of her life and doesn’t really follow orders, she used to move around as she wanted to, but maybe that won’t be possible anymore.
Thanks!
Anyone who’s familiar with rehabilitation I have my boy up an walking but he’s still really weak and can’t lift his back end up. Does anyone know any exercises or anything we can do to work on the lift from The ground??
My boy of 13 years had a stroke last week. He also tested positive for Lyme disease. Getting stronger every day but still can’t walk. Will post more updates when his lift harness and wheelchair come this week.
My best buddy Corbin has lost his eyesight due to diabetes. He went from seeing to blind really quickly. I know he is old (12-13) but he’s a little guy (Jack Russell mix) and he can probably live a couple more years.
I take good care of him. He’s so wonderful. I don’t mind giving him his insulin and I don’t mind helping him with his eyes. I thought that making him a halo would be helpful. He runs into a lot of things. Walls, furniture, people, etc. and it seems to scare him.
I was planning on getting him some goggles to protect his eyes. I have taught him “step up” and “step down” and we are working on left and right. He already knew wait, stop, back and several other commands that have helped us out.
Have any of you made halos for your dogs? Do they help? What are the drawbacks?
Are there any other things I should do to help him out?
