Want someone to pick up some gear for me.

I'm a retired AF guy who was stationed over there in the mid-late '80s (52nd CRS). I would like to get some Spangdahlem t-shirts or sweatshirts. Even if I can only get a link or email address it would be appreciated, just PM me. Thanks in advance!

Hi there! I will be at the dog park AT 5 today!

Come and play with all the corgis and dig up some dirt on Spang! You don't need a pet(or a corgi) to hang out with us! You can just ask questions about the area, food, castles, kids activities, or just to get out and do something after work! I will be there as well, my name is Liz. I will be frequenting this sub more often now since there are more people here (YAY). I have been here for almost 2 years now and have been active in site seeing and outdoor activities. I have two kids as well. I hope to see some of you guys there!

What's your favorite hangout in the greater Spangdahlem area?

Hello Spangit!

We are getting stationed there in about two weeks and, even though, I'm a Germany national, I have lived in the US with my husband for the last seven years and don't quite know my way around this particular area. I had a really nice coffee shop here that I'd frequent pretty regularly so I'm hoping to find a new hangout over there. So where do you like to unwind? Are there any coffee places, bars, cigar lounges or other hangouts that I should know about?

What is the farthest from the base anyone lived?

I lived in Trier for about 6 months...granted I worked night shift, so the commute wasn't brutal, but I only did it for a while...I actually live farther from my work now, but then it seemed like a long trip.

Spangdahlem Sabers Hockey team.

Does anyone have any information on the Spangdahlem Hockey team. I am very interested in joining but have no cue if there is still a team. Google shows we play at Bitburg ice rink, but i can not seem to find any contact info for the Sabers hockey organization.

Where was your favorite place to party around Spangladesh

Now this was the 80's, but I loved Zur Kayute in Herforst, The Madison in Trier (right next door to the Eros Center) and there was a place called Yvettes in Speicher owned by a retired AF guy that I enjoyed too... Anybody have anything else?

Any homebrew stores around the area?

Does anyone know of a home brew store in the spang/bitburg area? I need to start brewing beer again and I'd rather find some local ingredients rather than ship from the states. Thanks.

To anybody that may be moving here soon or has been at spang for a short time.

I was told about a book called Panther Paws, it has a ton of information on little towns around the base, where to eat, shop, and sight seeing stops. It covers all of Germany and other countries, really handy. I got mine the other day at the shoppette, it costs only ten bucks.

Moving in Early February: Neighborhood Suggestions?

My husband and I PCS to Spang in February. Does anyone have neighborhood recommendations? I've heard Spang is loud because of flights.

I pass on the B50 and the L46.

Useless rule. Irresponsible drivers are still going to do irresponsible things and those of us that know how to drive and know when are where passing is safe should not have to worry about someone tattling on us.

Bitburg was interesting for the first time.

Ok so I got to go to Bitburg the other day for the Xmas shops. I loved it,the kids had fun and my husband. Although when we where getting to to leave the curb near a bakery an elderly women missed a step and fell and smashed her face in the side walk. She had skinned her chin up,her gums where bleeding and her nose was bruised and scrapped up. My husband ran in the store and tried to get help they didn't understand him at first, I was outside and people waiting at the light got out and helped me to get her up on her feet.(I had my son in my Moby wrap,it was hard to get her up with him in the way) within like five minutes I think there was six ppl with her and the called the ambulance. So my husband to wanted to get back because it was dark. We walked back to the park house and the ticket machine was broken, so my husband tried to get hold of someone on the gate and they did not understand English. I got out and saw three women and asked if they could help us they did( most of them do speak some English) they where very nice I might add and they got it so we could get out. After all that though the ride back was nerve racking for me the roads are like the back roads of upstate ny. They twist and turn all over the place, and the Germans get pissed off and fly by you. This week we plan on going to Trier and then to another town I cant remember the name of.

Golden dragon on base.

So we checked it out tonight because my husband finally got the car here. We ordered a fish plate,a beef and chinese mushroom plate with glass noodles, wantons and a rainbow maki roll. The beef dish came with a side of steamed rice. So for me I had the beef dish which was pretty good but was very earthy and had a very shroomy flavor. Though it hardly had noodles in it, it was loaded with mushrooms and a nice hot broth. My husbands though was kinda gross in my opinion, the batter was a tempura and was very greasy with pockets of grease in the batter next to the shrimp. The wanton rolls and the maki roll were really good, no problem there at all. All and all the golden dragon is far better than the wok place in the bx. We then walked over the Kuhl beans and bought two slices of cheese cake and a eggnog latte all pretty good.

To the blue 1 Series BMW driver Reg#BIT A something.

Fair warning, you know who you are, you drive like a douche. I drive a motorcycle, and you came out of a roundabout (leaving base) sped up to my tail and tailgated me, and I was not under the speed limit. I took off, faster than I should have been going) and you sped up and got behind me again, on a road outside the base to binsfeld. I did it to get away from you, not to race, I don't need to race cars.

You make people, including myself, scared; and scared people don't always react rationally. Especially when I know I can go from 160 to smashed on your front bumper and windshield with a flick of my fingers. As a reminder, proper following distance is 2 seconds, not 2 meters. By the way, we all know your cage is a kinda quick, that's why it's Lemans blue and has a body kit and M badges all over it. Now get over yourself before you hurt somebody.
