This is an umbrella for all space sim related games. Anything from Orbiter to Dark Star One and anything in between is fair game.

I was wondering if folks had any game recommendations for RTS or 4x games with ground combat where you can actually control or otherwise get involved with ground combat, ideally seamlessly? I'd prefer deeper\crunchier mechanics if possible, but if there's a game that fits the bill I won't complain!
Some games that come to mind that I know of, or have played that get close to this are:
Star Wars Empire at War (not seamless, but really good) Fragile Existence (bang on, but unreleased) Dual Worlds 2 (combat is hands-off) Stellaris (hands-off)
If anyone has any recommendations, I'd appreciate it! Thanks all!
Hey guys I would like to know about some low spec stellaris alternatives, something that I can easily learn and master, it’s ok if it has a learning curve but I don’t want to read 19393 pages of a wiki to make a building. Also it doesn’t have to be limited to 4X.
I also accept suggestions for games like galimulator, etc etc
I wanted to ask if there is any sim that is similar or better than space engine. I'm looking for one that is just the raw experience of flying a ship, from take off, to going into space, alongside having mechanics like docking etc. I'm not really interested in the game having any purpose or goal in mind, just simply to fly around in space. I have seen multiple posts with a lot of recommendations, but none of them seem to be similar to space engine (even though the main purpose of space engine isn't flying around in a ship). Elite dangerous was the most common one I saw, but after seeing its gameplay i wasnt really interested in the warping and extra parts. Like i said, I just want to fly around and explore space in a decent looking sim (with a accurate scale) that has realistic physics. Any recommendations are welcome, thank you
Hi spacesimgamers,
We're working hard on the next big update of Earth Analog, called v2.0.0. It will change the game in radical ways. The highlights are listed here: Steam page
To make sure the new gameplay systems are polished and engaging, we’re inviting players to join a playtest of the build, which includes the first 2.5 planets of the main quest line. If you’re interested in playtesting and providing valuable feedback, please email us at info at funcraft-games dot net for further instructions. All playtest participants will receive a free copy of the full game as a thank-you!
Best regards,
nkm
What have you been playing right now? What are you excited to see come out in the near future? If you're making a game, what are you working on? Anything Space Sim Game related, let us know.
Looking for some good space sim games for mobile and i was hoping this wonderful group could suggest things outside of the google play store ??
I normally pillage everything i can from google play and looking to scratch the itch but want to look outwards and try to find something not typically listed or no longer listed.
any and all suggestions welcome and appricated :) thank you
As title says, a space sim game where exploration could also be trading or a combination of both and ship management is the focus. i want something I can play on trips on my laptop. So better not too demanding on hardware.
I have a Asus Flow Z13, so it's not too bad, but struggles with cooling after a while.
EDIT: I should add, I'm no big fan of those deck games I guess they are called? Those you attack other ships based on a deck of cards.
I'm trying to find my niche so to speak. I love all space sims, and space games, but I'm looking for a game to associate myself with.
I tried some Elite Dangerous, but the material collection grind is unfun. I almost filled up my bins with manufactured materials, but the material trading ratio is so shit that it's becoming a waste of my time.
Star Citizen is my second choice, but I lack a PC powerful enough to wield it properly.
My next choice after that is X4 Foundations. With the DLC, and the open sandbox nature of the game, I figured I could get many hours worth of gameplay out of it. The only concern I have with that is the gameplay itself becomes mostly menu based towards the mid to late game. Might be boring for people to watch?
I welcome any and all input, maybe there's a game with replayability that's gone under my radar. Love y'all.
I've looked this question up on google and came across some other posts on this subreddit, but I wanted some more up to date opinions to make a more educated decision on what I want to buy. I originally played lots of EVE but got tired of having to pay a subscription just to do the majority of what I liked doing (mining, trading, economy, etc.) What games are there right now that lean heavily into economy like EVE and which would you guys recommend?

Hi y'all, I'm one of the developers working on a first person spaceship simulator at Radvok Studios. We're an indie team making this game in our spare time and we're at a point where we can start to show off some small parts of the project. We all deeply love sci-fi and gaming. We've been inspired by:
If that sounds interesting to you, please feel free to leave some feedback and ask questions here, such as what you would want in a game like this, or any other thoughts you have. Additionally, feel free to signup for updates at our website.
When we deploy our first official Alpha Tests, the mailing list on the website is how we can get in touch and invite you.
We're shooting for a Q1 2025 Release
About the Game
It's a multiplayer co-op PvE same-ship simulator, meaning you'll be bumping shoulders with your friends as you scramble to keep your ship flying.
The largest priority for us while making this game is to make the player feel like every action they take isn't a "gamified" mechanic. We don't want the players to decide to retreat because their space ship is at 20% health, we want them to retreat because their aft compartment is on fire, their reactor is leaking radiation, and the engine coolant pump is down.
Every screen, button, switch, has some important mechanic and isn't there for display purposes.
We also loved Lethal Company. This is the only game I've personally played where I prefer to play it without Discord. We want to capture the chaotic adrenaline rush moments of crew members racing to divert water to cool the core, while the pilot is desperately dodging homing missiles, all while the mechanic is patching up holes to conserve what little oxygen is left.
If you're still here...
Please leave any feedback, and especially any questions. If you're so inclined, we'd greatly, greatly appreciate any support on our Patreon! - Includes discounts as well as the completed game!
From what I understand Sector does not have mining without mods? Looking for something where you can chill and focus the above mentioned activities.
What i remember is that every pixel in a ship we be destroyed separately, and there was ship management aspects to it, it was similar in style to starsector with its top down view, but exploration was in a single map, i remember art for it with a white ship with red stripes, i have been looking for videos of the game for a while now.
A free browser idle game about traveling in space, keeping the systems secure from pirates, and mining valuable ore.

I made this for fun, there are no mtx or payments.
I don't care if it's entirely abstracted, and all I'm doing is moving spreadsheets around or just names on a list, but what is the best game for feeling like I'm taking *people* around rather than cargo? Refugees, space tourists, a family of 16 Vulcans that want to see the logic of the Pillars of Creation, whatever.
Elite?
X3AP?
Hi everyone,
I am currently in school studying to get a compsci degree. I have always been in love with simulator games and how they function in a totally different, ultra realistic realm compared to anything else in the world. I have played everything from space engineers, to KSP, and I even have simple rockets on my phone. I love this genre and am focused on being apart of it, because in my opinion this style of games is the way of the future.
However, I can’t seem to get a decent explanation or guide from any counselors or teachers over what classes to take when it comes to developing a space sim. The level of experience I want is to be able to develop and understand the entire process behind making a game on the level of Star Citizen.
Any advice would help.
Hello everyone, I am looking for what you guys think is the best space sim MMO for being a cargo-focused pilot.
Quick points to help with your recommendations:
Any and all recommendations will be appreciated so thanks in advance!
I'm looking for a Space Combat game that is quick to get into the action for PC. Maybe something similar to the old Wing Commander or Battlestar Galactica on the original Xbox. I don't even mind if it's an old game. Thoughts?
The Litcube's Universe mods for X3 are one of a kind to my knowledge, simulating both empire and fleet building and huge fleet battles. People have described it as a first person 4X game built out of the well known X3 engine.
However the base game is over 10 years old and features a cumbersome UI, and being a mod of an old space sim, is missing many 4x features one would find in a 4x strategy game like Stellaris.
What I'd love to see is an immersive 4x game with modern UI and gameplay features like Stellaris, that features space sim level trading and fleet battles that the player can take part in.
Are there any games like this in development? I know it's extremely niche but personally I'd love to see it.
