can anyone explain the climax of “The Gangster, The Cop, The Devil” to me a non-korean speaker?

the gangster enters the prison starts smiling at the devil where he was sitting and reading a book and then again the gangster enters the shower area where the devil was taking a bath and then they both exchange smiles the devil had a confident smile but the gangster smile was not so confident what does the climax mean exactly?

Moldy apartment scam?

Hi everyone, my gf is currently in Korea for a year and she just arrived today. She arranged for an apartment near her university in Hongdae.

She just entered her room and it is incredibly moldy. There is mold right above her bed and on the walls. I think maybe even on the mattress too. I’m frustrated because it’s obvious the room is not safely habitable.

It feels like my gf got scammed about $1000usd because she can’t get her deposit back for an unlivable apartment. Is there any agency this can be reported to? She has only been in the unit for about twelve hours.

This seems like a scam to force someone to pay $1000 for a room with serious water damage and mold issues across the walls and ceiling… it is utterly absurd and dangerous by any standards :(

Tips for exploring Ulsan

Hi, everyone!

Ulsan and South Korea in general is very welcoming place with a nice and kind people, beautiful nature and amazing food. This country is marvelous!

I’m here in Ulsan with my colleagues for 2 months because of our job opportunity, so would like to spend free evenings/time. Could you please give me some tips for living such as: application for delivery of food, taxi, map to be used(Kakao?), alternative amazon, shops, places to visit in Ulsan, bars, restaurants?

I would like to see something really local, to explore some bars with soju and beer and to have fun.

Many thanks to all of you in advance.

I am a bit of a beach enthusiast and like to see good beach spots to swim and boogieboard. Ive been to some of the coolest beach spots in Hawaii, Mexico, Malibu, and the Florida Keys.

Question: what are some of the best beach spots in South Korea? Places that are sunny and clean?

I Was Adopted From S. Korea As An Infant. Is It Possible To Get My Citizenship?

Hi - I was adopted from S. Korea and have lived in the United States since I was 4 months old. I've never been back, even though I'd like to visit some day. Anyway, I'm wondering if there's a straightforward path to citizenship, since I'm adopted. Thanks!

Be a psychologist in South Korea, mission impossible ?

Hi everyone!

I recently (2023-2024) completed an exchange year studying Psychology at Tsing Hua University in Taiwan and am now back in France finishing my bachelor’s degree.

With plans to pursue a master's in psychology here in France, I’m considering career opportunities in South Korea. I speak fluent French and English and am working on improving my basic Korean.

I’m particularly interested in working as a psychologist with children, perhaps in French or international schools in South Korea, since it seems too hard to do so with local people due to langage barrier. Is this a viable path, or are there restrictions on international psychologists practicing in the country ?

If practicing as a psychologist seems to challenging, what alternative roles related to education, mental health, or counseling might be possible?

I’d love to hear any advice or insights you have to share !

Thanks so much :)

Pop Tarts Search In Seoul

Hiya! My husband has been super sick and is finally feeling better. I really want to surprise him with some pop tarts. We just moved here from the States a couple months ago and he’s missing them. Our ARC card doesn’t come in for another few weeks so we can’t get a visions number yet.

Anyone know where to find these addictive treats in Seoul?

Veggie friendly food in Seoul

Please help to identify any safe foods for vegetarians, especially at the grocery stores (cu/7eleven).

It was super overwhelming today, as I was trying to translate every single thing I picked up and almost everything had some sort of meat. Is there any signs on the package I can look out for?

Or even what are your top veggie fast food things to eat here? (Please send pictures if possible)

Cosy winter retreat

Hi all, my GF and I have a last min trip to S Korea end of December - early January and are looking for a nice, romantic, wintery town to go for a couple of nights. We don't ski but I think that's the sort of place we are after. Preferably easy to get to with public transport. Bonus points for hot pool/spa/sauna vibes. Any reccomendations? Thanks!

Apricot Soju

Hey guys! I recently came back from South Korea and I must say what a lovely place!

I got hooked up on one specific apricot Soju and it is one of the best things I've ever tried. I can't seem to find it anywhere in the US. Does anyone have any idea if and where I can get it shipped here? Or if I can find it anywhere here. Thanks!

Bicycle Touring Question

Hello Anyo Aseio 😅

I'd like to do a relaxed bicycle tour next year from Seoul to Busan on my bicycle. My questions:

Do you think 2 weeks is a good time to explore Seoul for like 3 days and Busan like 3 days and spend around 8 days on the bicycle?

Is middle of April already somewhat warm or should I wait until late May?

Thx for your tips :)

Kamsamida

Need inputs for the "Best practice" travel guide to Seoul / South Korea

Hi Reddit

I always enjoy reading all the awesome recommendations on here, when I go travel - and once again I need your help!

I have set out to create the "Best practice" guide to visiting Seoul / South Korea, and I need all the help/input I can get.

Some info about the the trip:

  • I'm going with my wife - both are the 28.
  • I'm going to land in Seoul December 28th at 13.40 and will be leaving Seoul Sunday the 5th of January at 23.30.
  • We have 8 nights - is there anywhere else it would be nice to experience besides Seoul? We like hiking, history etc.
  • How should we split the nights in Seoul? Feel like it would be nice seeing some different areas.
  • We are both HUGE foodies! We love to try new food, we love great restaurants, and having a good time.
  • Advise to what to do at NYE would be great!

I will ofc. keep this thread updated and before we leave post the full travel guide :-)

Hope to get a lot of nice inputs,

Best regards,
Simon

Korean drinking age for foreigners

I am 18 years old (born 2006) and will spend a few days in Korea in December, Since the drinking age is 19 but I am confused on the international age and age of Korea. Will I be allowed to drink?? I have been to Seoul before for an overnight layover when I was 17 and ordered a beer at a restaurant but they never ID'd me.
