My solidworks started running slowly. When i make any change to part, or apply a mate in assembly, it takes about 20 to 30 seconds to update? PC has no specs issue. What can be the problem please
How to create a dimension line that is far away from the letters(I do know how to change the gap settings, but how do I do that for just one dimension)
Hi all.
I have designed a fuselage to 3d-print for my rc plane project. I want to shell out the fuselage sections for obvious reasons; electronics and decreased empty weight. I've split it into two halves, when I try to shell either one of them, it doesn't work. Please see the attached files below. I want to give it a thickness of 30 mm. Apparently, my model is not symmetric. I will also attach the full model so that I can be assisted with making it symmetric.
To summarize; I have two issue.
This is the error. How to resolve it
Thank you for taking the time to read this.
Dropbox folder with the two portions of the model and one attached model of the entire plane.

I have just graduated and looking to make my career as mechanical designer and fea analyst
Ok so I’ll start with my 3Dexperince has not been great, I’m following a YouTube tutorial on how to create a tool path and get as far as creating a 2mm end mill but when I select the pocketing process the tool search comes up and my created tools disappear. They don’t nt show up in search and I am blocked from selecting them in my manufacturing tree. Why is 3DX so painful to use?
Okay so I am creating the parting surface of a mold by hand by sweeping a line across the edge of a fillet. So far everything is going great, I created multiple of these surface with no issue at all (I created 3 surfaces this way). However when I try to create more of these surfaces, Solidworks will no longer accept the profile. The problem is so bad that I can't even create the SAME surfaces with the ORIGINAL sketches. By that I mean if I delete the sweep feature and then try to create it again with the SAME sketch, it gives an error when selecting the profile (a straight line). That is what I am demonstrating in the screenshots. Wtf?
Why is SW rejecting the sweep profile that worked fine previously, and why is it rejecting sweep profiles that I create using the exact same method that worked previously?
This is the desired result. If I leave it alone, there are no issues or errors. The surface was created and resolves with no issue
If I delete the sweep feature, and then try to create the sweep again, OR if I try to create another sweep in a similar way, I get this error when selecting the profile. I can't create another sweep or even redo the original sweeps. For clarity, I don't need to "redo" the original sweeps, I'm just including this to show how broken the feature is that it is now rejecting a profile that it accepted perfectly fine earlier.
Hi. What option setting enables Solidworks to open part file from assembly step file? Usually when I open a step assembly file from another PC, Solidworks does not let me open part files in separate window.
I am creating a chopped off cone and need to not have a perfect cone. I need it to lean to one side, as shown in the picture.
Is this possible in Solidworks? If so, how is it done?
(Note: any answer is appreciated, but as a Solidworks beginner, I appreciate a bit more detail when possible.)
Can someone help me out? I need to control a robot on SOLIDWORKS with the help of a desktop application built on visual studio c#. I have zero experience of it.
I'm trying to convert entities for an airfoil curve, however, the error above prevents me from it. I am on a 3D plane, and have tried editing/deleting relations. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
It turns out that when I installed the program I got the error (-15,10,10061) and when I saw why I realized that the service does not start and without this the program does not open
We recently upgraded our computers and OS at my work and I noticed that now when I replace a model in a SW drawing I no longer have the option to choose from open documents and can only browse to the file I want to use. I still have this option when replacing a model/part within an assembly, just not with drawings. Does anyone know if there's a setting or something I can change?
On the machine I just got for work magnetic mates are active by default in assemblies and I have to manually turn them off each time, how do I change this to inactive by default?
Edit: Is it only possible to change this in the context of custom template settings? At my current position we're supposed to use our company standard templates for all parts and assemblies so I may be out of luck if that's the case.
I'm having difficulty with a route assembly one of my co-workers has put together, one of the elbows in the route keeps merging with pipe parts it's placed between and gets placed in the "Route Parts" folder in the route SA instead of being placed in the "Components" folder like the rest of the fittings used in the route. The BOM then treats it as just a length of pipe instead of breaking it out as an elbow fitting. When dropping the elbow into the route it even shows up in the "Components" folder like it should, but then when I exit out of editing the route it merges with the pipe parts and gets dumped into the "Route Parts" folder. I've never seen this happen before, and I'm really hoping I can fix this without scrapping the route and starting over. Has anyone run into something like this before?
After finialaizing the instructions created with solidworks Composer, needed to update the file, cause of some missing fasteners, updated part geometry, nothing huge, I always get the same result - ALL My views, collaborations ar messed up.
Have tried all the export and import options. Contacted with PLM Group, who is promoting Solidworks. Nobody has an answer.
Added some insight pictures with the problem.

If this doesn't get solved within 2 weeks, I don't see the reason to pay for this software anymore.
So I've been designing a propeller using imported airfoil coordinates, however, when trying to use the loft command to complete the blade design, I am getting a rebuild error message saying, "The feature could not be created because it would produce self-intersecting geometry."
If anyone knows where I am going wrong, it would be a lifesaver. Thank you.

I'm from Brazil and I'm trying to but a new license for my team. The sales rep here is trying to sell me one license for R$65000,00 about U$13000,00 dolar. Is that right? About 3 years ago I bought one for 5k dollar.
Edit: is a professional license
So i recently got my solidworks back after i reset my windows and the person reinstalling the solidworks installed sw 2019 and said that we would check for update after installation, if i would be under subscription(he said something about aimc) then it would update or it will remain on 2019. So my question is that is it normal? I have a perpetual liscence.
Hello!
I want to make this 3D model of a step pyramid with Solidworks.
Is there a more efficient way to do this than creating a sketch + extruding every level of the pyramid?
I tried with defining a Linear Pattern, but I can't figure out how to reduce the size of each step.
I am new to solidworks.
Thanks for your help.
My colleague inserted a design table but it changed her line pattern of how many extrudes she had I can't seem to find what went wrong and haven't had it myself. So did anyone encounter the same problem or know
- what could have gone wrong.
It's in insert Exel design table->auto create In SolidWorks 2022 It has a lot of different configurations that has different lengths and for certain lengths the hole number increases or decreases.
-If anyone knows what could have happened i would appreciate the information.
If you have more questions be sure to ask
So I've been making some parametric designs in SolidWorks, it's going pretty well for the most part. There is only one thing I'm still struggling with. I want to automatically change the pattern of a linearly patterned object.
The distance between these objects should be equal, should never exceed 100mm but should stay as close as possible to 100mm. Currently I'm using an equation that makes it close to 100 and if it exceeds it, it just adds one more.
Example of how I have it now: Quantity=int(space/max distance + 1) Space inbetween= space/(quantity - 2)
D1@LocalPattern1= int( if( space inbetween > max distance , quantity + 1, quantity))
The "+1" and "-2" are numbers I found gave me the most accurate answer in my situation.
Is there a more elegant way to do this?
