For years, I have been looking for a cloud storage solution-that truly puts user security first. Many users have relied on end-to-end encryption only to later learn that their providers held the decryption keys to access the data, and with it, I do something I never wanted: provide them access to my data based on the level of trust I have in them. All other attempts faded away with the dawn of FileLu's Secure Solo Cipher Encryption-the technology, leaving no shades of gray in the game of cloud storage security.
The Problem: False Sense of Security in Traditional Cloud Storage
So far, with a number of cloud storage service providers, it appears a feel-good proposition, i.e., they supposedly provide us with the security of encryption in transit and at rest with end-to-end encryption. How true is this? The truth is-we have seen cases where the storage provider does have access to the decryption keys and, therefore, to your data, and is often the culprit for data breaches. For people like me, that fact does not sit well; what’s the point of encryption if someone else has the key to unlock it?
The Solution: Secure Solo Cipher Encryption (SSCE) of FileLu
This is where the cloud storage game now becomes magic, thanks to the SSCE from FileLu: the next-generation encryption protocol that turns the table around. It stands apart from conventional models by making sure you-the user, and only you-have hold of the keys for deciphering the files. FileLu cannot access your files, rendering your cloud storage a unique persona
let me know tools are you are uisng for secure storage ?

not as comprehensive as Photoshop but the provided tools are pretty complete like a swiss army knife for images.
before anyone suggesting ImageMagick or other CLI software, let me preface by saying that I'd like one with GUI thank you very much.
Check it out: https://smart-listapp.vercel.app/

Open to any suggestions/improvements! 🫡
I'm looking for an alternative to macro recorder because I cant afford it I'm specifically looking for something that can either look for a specifically colored pixel then cause an action or look for a small segment of my screen and cause an action
I was frustrated with CompactGUI's odd lack of functionality - so I created my own Windows program to compress files efficiently and intelligently (using the built-in "compact.exe" utility).
Here is the app that I created in 2 days working for 3-4 hours each (entirely with GitHub Copilot, mostly using Claude 3.5 Sonnet): https://github.com/misha1350/trash-compactor
CompactGUI is made for compressing Steam games (and only Steam games), whereas I created my program following the DRY (Don't Repeat Yourself), KISS, and 80/20 principles all in one, This is the result after running the app on the a folder that was already compressed by CompactGUI - I recovered 25% more space:
I recommend you use it like so:
Don't compress your Windows installation with this - instead, use `compact.exe /compactos:always`. It's perfectly fine to use this command for compressing Windows libraries and binaries in the safest way possible.

Looking for an all in one Anti-virus and malware software that can run on windows and Android. I'm looking into the Norton and Bitdefender sales, not sure what is best.
Hi,
I've basically asked everything in the question, except that I did use darkthumbs on win 10 and noticed that explorer experienced issues + there's a question on high CPU in discussion on github, concerning the same app, which makes me a little reluctant to use it on win 11, though the developer claims the latest version has fixed a bunch of bugs. Is someone is currently using version 2.0 without issues - please respond.
I have a number of epub / mobi / pdf documents, but unlike pdf readers, I haven't found epub/mobi reader that automatically generates thumbnail preview in explorer. I can't navigate so many books without seeing the cover and I often use them for teaching purposes.
Thanks!
I am looking for some good text-to-speech software, I am not partial to one browser and don't mind changing for a good TTS set-up. where the voice does not sound robotic, I am happy to pay for such a feature, as I read around five journals a day, and this would make the process much easier.
Cheers
I am Planning a new sick Setup for Home Office and Gaming rn and i have some ideas, but i dont have a way to plan it. Do you guys know or use some Software for this? Some people use Blender but that will take to long to learn for me. There are some room Planning Softwares out there, but they are not focused on Setups, more on Room Planning.
I want to become a software architect after graduating. What are some examples of software architecture?

I'm looking for a video player program to start using. I really don't care for something I have to do a whole lot of configuration for and while I'm not looking for a powerhouse player that'll do 4k I would like some quality video. I just want a simple go-to player for all the various types of video files I collected through questionable means during my more reckless youth. My go-to has always been VLC for its simplicity, but as I understand it's been well surpassed as a good player.
I also intend to start working as a freelance video editor come next year, so that might need to be in consideration as well.
For tech specs reference this is the new laptop I got that I want to put it on:

I am starting a Home server NAS, and while I wait for shipping, I figure I should start now. Does anyone know some good software that can handle up to 4k dvds? (most will be 1080p)
Im gonna be trying out my own Plex server or something like unto it, and want to get some files to it, but never done it before. Anyone got ideas?
Software for streaming live audio through the internet on Windows and hopefully, ChromeOS
Thanks
I'm looking for a program thats similar to this.
I have two clips, Clip A and clip B.
Clip A is guitar music, and clip B is drum music.
I put both Clip A and Clip B into the program, and the program will generate an audio transition from guitars to drums that sounds like a natural progression.
Is there anything like this?
I am trying to install Files because I am sick of Windows' File Explorer that goes crazy constantly:
But when I try to install Files it asks for:
I get that it is a File Explorer and that it needs a wide range of permission in order to work as intended, but aren't these a little too much? I think it would basically have every and each permission possible, or am I being paranoid for no reason?
I need a software that holds the enter key indefinitely for me (not tap repeatedly) I am on windows 11
I'm just starting my journey into IT/coding/Cyber security
I have zero background
I'm just learning about Bad USBs and dummy charging wires
I tend to save money by buying the noname brands for practically everything
Just ordered a few USB drives and card readers from Amazon, of course they're no name but have a good number of reviews
How do I make sure I'm not plugging in a Bad USB?
Should this be a concern or is this a highly unlikely situation when ordering from a known source?
Is there a way to check?
Hi, I've created an encrypted-journaling command-line application inspired by https://jrnl.sh It is just a single bash script for the app, and another script for the setup. I wanted something that was dead simple, and something that does not have too many dependencies.
The idea is to use existing tools to just start writing, and have the records automatically arranged in a specified folder.
Please check out the project here: https://github.com/nilz-bilz/cli-jrnl and let me know if there are any changes or improvements you guys would like to see. I haven't yet tested this on mac and other Unix systems, so it would be great to get some feedback on those platforms as well. Thanks
This post is an addition to the previous one Modification history and saving of related files : r/software, but I prefer to deal with the topics separately: is there a browser-like ‘History’ functionality but on the whole operating system? To put it more clearly, is there any way to automatically track every action performed on the PC, and thus include every operation performed on every single file and with every single software used? Basically, at the end of each day, I would like to have a record of the activities. I'm asking this because yesterday I realised that some files and folders have disappeared despite the fact that I had a generic backup. First of all, I'd like to understand what happened because I can't explain it to myself and then I'd like to be sure that it won't happen again in the future to avoid redoing a lot of work as I'm doing now. Thanks
Hi all, I'm looking for software that allows me to automatically save changes I make to a file, it seemed to me that FileHamster might be useful, however when I go to download the exe file of the trial version I get a message telling me that the download is stopped and to check the reliability before opening it. Can I trust it and force the download? Or can you recommend me some other application that performs the file history function and allows me to backtrack to one in case I need to? Thank you
Hey everyone,
I recently came across remove-bg.io, and it’s been a game-changer for removing image backgrounds. It’s super simple to use and has some awesome features:
Completely free—no hidden costs or limits.
No sign-ups—you can use it without creating an account.
HD downloads are free—no quality loss at all.
You can edit the cutout by restoring or removing parts of the original image.
Add shadow and blur effects to enhance the final look of your image.
It’s been perfect for quick edits, especially when I don’t want to use complicated software. The editing options (like blur and shadow) make it more versatile too.
Here’s the link: https://remove-bg.io
If you’ve tried it or know similar tools, I’d love to hear your thoughts!
Voicemod is too expensive for me, are there any good voice changer programs that are free?
I am a time management and business networking coach. I am interested in building a solution for my coaching/consulting clients that would include a task management system and a CRM plus some task and networking follow-up templates I will design.
Some of the options I am looking at include Clickup and Go High Level. I have used Notion for many things, but I just can't get past Notion's lack of support for recurring tasks.
What other options should I consider? Bonus if it supports automations and a white label version.
Hello! I have been using Itunes since 2005 when the shuffle first came out, but I think its finally time to move on. However, I don't really want to go through making all my playlists again.
I am wondering if there is an music program that can take the library xml that itunes can create and import all my playlists into? I looked into Foobar and Aimp but I can't figure out if they can import the xml or not
