Does anyone else wish the panda King got a mission for us to play as him on Kaine Island? Like maybe a boss battle or maybe he takes out the flying creatures
I've seen discussions on other aspects of the games, but never this (unless I'm blind which is totally possible). What's yalls favorite intro card for a level? I've always had a place in my heart for Fire in the Sky.
Hello currently I'm playing the PS4 version of the original game I platinum the PS5 yesterday and I immediately began the other. Probably a stupid question but it bothers me since I replayed the PS3 version back in 2023. Are the safe code number mean anything or are reference to something or the just put those smart comments of Bentley for fun without meaning something?
If the gang were pokemon, what would they be? Here are my ideas:
Considering how if you watch how Penelope is as the Black Baron, during the welcome speech, Penelope apparently let a lot of hazings occur on her watch during previous ACES meetings. This included teams that severed the landing gear off of the other team’s planes, or putting rat poison in another team’s coffee. Note that Penelope, who was at the time the leader of the event, never banned anyone from coming for these infractions; she let them stay.
Cut to the battle on the wing in the end of the chapter: she could have nearly killed Sly to keep her secret, even though she had done everything she could to help them up until this point. Penelope could easily surrender as the Black Baron, but she was committed to the bit. It’s only when Sly breaks her mask that she concedes.
Then she is drafted into the Cooper Vault job. She’s a great RC expert, a master with computers on par with Bentley, and she’s a good person to be around. But suddenly she’s a bit of a damsel in distress; she gets captured regularly, she gets blinded in that one mission in Blood Bath Bay. It’s only when she has to duel against LeFwee that that competency she had as the Black Baron shines through again. But what is important here is what she is trying to be: an RC expert. A mask.
Cut to Sly 4. She is the Black Knight, drafted into service by Le Paradox in order to assist him in wiping out Sly’s ancestry. Penelope is convinced that Sly is the only thing standing in between Le Paradox and Bentley’s full potential, to the point that she is willing to go out of her way to try and kill Sly to do so. Yet another mask.
Penelope is a character defined by their mask; they are what people need them to be in that exact moment, to the point of it being a flaw, limiting her own potential for the sake of developing others. I like the idea of Penelope using her time as the Black Knight in Sly 4 as a vent for her own insecurity, as poorly communicated as it appears.
Something important I wanna offer as a bonus: we don’t really know Penelope’s actual backstory, how she grew up, and what her influences are. Compared to other characters like Panda King or Dimitri, she’s the character that is only defined by what she can provide to the team. She probably sees Bentley as suffering a similar fate, and thus empathizes with a struggle that exists primarily just for herself.
You could argue that Guru is sort of the same, but he is more of a ‘mysterious mystical teacher’ sort of role, and has only appeared once to provide support. His depth and backstory is self-explanatory. But Penelope is interesting, because I always saw Bentley as being a sort of deuteragonist in Sly. Bentley could break both of his buds out of jail off of smarts alone. Bentley can throw down with some pretty bad dudes in general. Bentley has access to abilities that let him freeze time.
I just think Penelope is interesting because we don’t really know her, just what she brings to the table and what she means for other people. Which is very interesting, in the sense that she seems to criticize Bentley for exactly her own purpose within Sly’s greater narrative. She is defined by what her potential means for other people, she is always defined by her mask.
Amazing to see sly take up the good spot to be a forefront to it. Seeing as it even was one of the first games I played alot on playstation 2
I hope we one day get a reboot or a deserving sequel. Until then time to add two more platinums with Sly 2&3
Just finished sly 1 a few days ago and it was my first time trying out the thief sprints, and out of all of them, there was 2 that gave me a hard time. The run up to Raleigh's, and the graveyard in episode 3. Was curious if these are seen as the most difficult or if there are others that gave people a hard time? For reference, I only used a guide for the first 3 in episode 1, and after that completely blind. Most of them took between 5 and 8 tries, while the 2 I struggled with was both around 15.
Sly 2: Band Of Thieves / Sly 3: Honor Among Theives Officially becomes available digitally to PS4 & PS5 December 10th!
Sly Cooper and the Thievius Raccoonus Is available digitally right now! On PS4/PS5
I've been working on a set of 30 character art cards to celebrate PlayStation's 30th Anniversary. I still have the backgrounds and lettering to do, but I am halfway through the set otherwise and wanted to share them so far! The Sly one isn't one of my better ones, but wanted to share.
i think the way penelope pulled a 180 is not a crazy thing because she was always ambitious, and the Black Baron persona was quickly swept under the rug in Sly 3, like she also pulled a 180 from Black Baron to Penelope
she was always in it for glory and money from the start, that’s why she was the Black Baron and the reason she joined the Cooper Vault Heist and also the reason she became the Black Knight
she just realized that settling in isn’t for her and regressed/relapsed into psychopathy, after all the Black Baron IS Penelope they are the same person, just because she put it behind her in Sly 3 doesn’t mean that it was deleted from her mentally/psychologically
personally i would loved to know more about her spiraling back into her older ways when she spent all those years settling with Bentley
tldr; it really isn’t the character assassination everyone make it seem to be, she just went full circle she didn’t suddenly make a 180, they could’ve executed it better for sure and tbh im not really a fan either, but this is not a character assassination at all
Just a small question. In this mission, when you play as Bentley. Am I the only one to not use the Grapple Cam but the Rage Bomb on the elephant soldiers?
I dreamed I unpacked alot of old games, forgot why...
But I found... 10 different copies of sly 2 (unique) and two that was the same with recoloured Murray on CD (Yes CD)
so... umm... I blame Dimitri, LET'S DANCE dududududuudud wooohoo hoooo oohooo! :D
the big parts of this level would contain the Vegas strip, with light guards and the big casino in the middle, tons of shady alleyways, some with small guards, and the boardwalk with the fountains of bellagio.
maybe the plot would be a lost family heirloom was being used as a chip to gamble with, and you need to track it down, while its actively being handed around and used at all the different casinos on the strip.
sly games dont utilize casinos often, even though they are perfect settings for him!
Don’t know why, but I got to thinking about the moves that are in the book, and just how they’d be written beyond “jump and hit the O button”. One that made me think of this was the Ninja Spire Jump. For a start, the kanji likely translated into French or English by the time of Sly’s family having the book would have to explain how to distribute one’s weight on diminutive points to land like a feather. Especially given that the Coopers (yes I’m including Thieves in Time) all land with both feet (or likely one foot in some cases for reality), and are in a squatting position the whole time. I’m thinking something along the lines of “to perch atop the points of poles, one must make certain to balance thyself before landing. Becoming unbalanced would result in thyself being injured instead.” Or something along those lines. Thoughts? I know I’m putting real world logic to a cartoon video game, but I couldn’t get it out of my head.
I've been a Sly Cooper fan for as long as I can remember. I remember going to Walmart and getting the first Sly Cooper game for the PS2 and I've been on this train ever since. This is the most visible Sly Cooper has been since honestly Sly Cooper 3 and to me this is very intentional. When sly 2 and sly 3 drop we definitely have to run up the buys because it seems to me that some higher up is paying attention it might be willing to invest in finishing the story.
Or it might be copium
Either way happy theiving
how can i transfer my save from the ps4 version of Sly Racoon from the ps+ premium to the ps5 version? i want the platinum trophy but i don't have time to play the game a second time.
