I watched Skins with my three kids, and they all loved it. Here are my kids thoughts on Skins
Me: What are your thoughts on Skins
3 year old: I love how skins shows how teenagers can do irresponsible things like drugs, alcohol and sex at such a young age, while still being portrayed as humans with emotions and complexity.
6 year old:
Holistically, "Skins" doth present itself as a pilgrimage of self-revelation and defiance against the strictures of society. Each character doth embody a facet of the human soul, wrestling with inner turmoils, doubts, and longings. The tumultuous happenings chronicled within the series doth serve as parables for the trials and burdens borne by youths as they traverse the passage from infancy to maturity. From conflicts pertaining to identity and carnality to struggles against the grip of vice and mental affliction, "Skins" plumbs the depths of youthful experiences, proffering a poignant discourse on the perennial pursuit of self-awareness and acceptance.
My 9 year old: Skins is a fantastic show, with great plot lines, that are very dramatic and shows us the difficulties in life. I like how many characters are shown as not only being good or bad people, but something in between.
I'm so prowd of my kids and glad they wacth Skins. There faivoright characters are Sid and Katie.
might get a lot of hate for this one but im prepared. pandora was a shit friend. i am not saying that effy wasnt, because fucking hell she was. but nobody talks about how shit of a friend panda was to effy asw. she slept with cook behind effys back AND lied abt it only happening once, when she was consistently seeing cook. she also broke thomas' heart for absolutely no reason, and then tried to get back w him after cheating on him and acts like its all hunky dory but then when he cheats its like the whole fucking world is about to fall apart and she turns into a complete bitch, thomas couldve done that to her, but he gave her another chance. (not to mention thomas cheated once and panda cheated numerous times.)
Damn I tried so many times to get into this series and every time I felt the same feeling. This series is one of the most depressing series you can watch, it's just so sad, the atmosphere, the characters and their story are so dramatic but actually normal.
I finished high school a year ago, I live in the Middle East, things here are completely different, but I would like to know if you think the series is realistic. I can't say because I was always a closed girl I didn't hang out with anyone "dangerous" I was and still am considered the "good girl" I didn't touch cigarettes or drugs or anything else that teenagers experimented with. This series romanticizes Effie's character a bit, in my opinion, I don't know if it's the fans or the way her character is written. Like I literally wanted to be her because it seemed somehow cool but the truth is it's not cool it's actually sad.
Bit random but i dont understand why some hate anwar. He always seemed so funny to me.One of my fave characters.
I dont care what anybody says-Effy was pretty annoying, always acting like the victim nd using pandora. If there was a girl like that irl she would always just kill the vibe at partys.Always acting mysterious nd like the main character, trying to be so different nd 'misunderstood'.
i never really use reddit, so apologies in advance if this isn’t the best, i just want to share a bit of my thoughts on this. i started watching skins again a few weeks ago, and i’m now on season 4. last night i watched the episode where freddie was murdered and all i can say was my jaw was dropped. freddie is one of the best characters in skins by far (don’t come for me). but his death just doesn’t even seem real. my view of the show itself was a portrayal of realistic struggles that most angsty teens face whilst growing up (drug use, mental illnesses, disorders, identity issues, etc). it made the show feel raw and relatable. but a psychotic therapist murdering a teenage girls boyfriend? it makes absolutely no sense for the show, and it is especially heartbreaking knowing that he died because of his love for effy. i honestly don’t even want to watch the rest of the show now. i know i will sooner or later, but i’m never going to be okay with his death.
Every time I rewatch I forget how unhinged and random the osama musical is lmao
I’ll preface by saying that the overall ending was rushed. They rushed the conclusion to Naomi and Emily’s reunion and Panda and Thomas’ implied reunion. They basically made JJ and Katie background characters (the infertility storyline didn’t add anything). The worst part of course, is no one besides Cook finding out what happened to Freddie, and even then it was in the last two minutes. Honestly the whole crazy doctor storyline was ridiculous and clearly for shock value. I feel like the finale was just thrown together.
However, the final scene I think was brilliant and pretty much encapsulated the main theme which was ultimately Cook’s love for Freddie and Effy. The build up of music, Cook’s speech, and the final shot of Cook screaming and lunging at the doctor, implying that he almost certainly made him pay (as we later know by killing him). Cook was basically the heart of Gen 2 so it made sense he’d get the climatic scene. One of the great things about Skins is that they don’t spell everything out for you.
Yes I'm aware that a lot of ppl hate Tony and felt happy when he was disabled physically and mentally. I actually felt bad because he was really well written and his character background was fully well developed. He was the reason I got interested in watching Skins. But later I'm watching S2 and it's all about him being coldly knocked out into a disabled person and a girl chasing him, yes the person who treated her like shit and so was whiny about him. After recovering he just didn't feel interesting at all and he was barely there 2nd half of S2. I mean he must have been taught a lesson by Josh and Spencer so why go hard?
I was on an instagram live with Lily Loveless, and what happened was traumatic. To start off I'm a big fan of Skins, and when I saw Lily Loveless was on Instagram live I had to join. And I swear to god, when I joined the live, Lily was looking straight at me. And her smile turned into a frown. I found that rude, and very judgemental of her. Then I typed and I said Hi Lily, hope your having a good day. She just ignored me. Ignoring Hello's is just people acting like there better then you. Now I'm all for revenge, so my mom got me Kaya Scodelario's phone number I called her, and she's going to get Lily fired on the show she's in Stranger. Hope Lily thinks twice, before being rude to people, now she's fired while I'm friends with Kaya Scodelario. Karma is real.
(Not doing gen 3 cos who gives a fuck)
what if it was always effy and cook and freddie was never involved?
So just to explain, Franky is surely flawed but I understand her for parts and she was interestingly chaotic. And Rich is not ranked so highly cuz.... he wasn't that interesting or anything. Sure he was sweet but... meh, I cared more about other people. THERE YOU GO ❤️ I watched Skins countless times but the first, I was about about 13 years old and... I'll never forget this series. It has a very special place in my heart. Everytime I think about it (especially the first gen) or hear the opening song... I have a pain in my stomach. AHHHH NOSTALGIA BREAKS ME
i think this is how it should go if im honest and i only put luke in okay tier for doing that to franky bcs shes an annoying bitch and deserved that shit and his lowkey hot so 🤷♀️
So, I just stumbled upon this gen 3 group photo and was shocked when I saw Mini in this. Were the writers initially going to have her become more alternative later on? And Nick was going to have a scooter? You could say this is just a promo photo that doesn't mean anything, but it's strange that her appearance is so different when everyone else looks how they did in the show.
I kinda like this look on her. Might have been interesting if they explored her trying to understand her identity as they did with Franky in s5 and also what happened to Mini/Franky as a ship?
ok I just finished the 3 generations now I'm watching season 7 it's meh here's my list recency bias is probably in effect lol Also I might put liv in top tier
If Chris (god rest our Monkeyman) had been able to cross over with Alo and Richard, would they or would they not have been like the best of friends?
Is it just me, or did they completely throw out the character outline they had for S6? Like okay I GET that he was scared and on the run, guilty over causing the accident. But it seemed like the writers turned my guy into an absolute pathetic doormat in S6, I wanted to slap him with a newspaper so many times. " SHE'S🗞️ JUST🗞️NOT🗞️ THAT 🗞️INTO 🗞️YOU🗞️🗞️🗞️🗞️"
Im on Vol.3 and jesus the soundtrack is so bad i just couldn’t believe It (i watch on Netflix) and then I serched on reddit why is the soundtrack so bad and It turned out they changed it for netflix thats such a bummer bc when i look at the original soundtrack on Spotify these are such great bands like Portishead and all.
