I can’t comprehend it. It keeps me up at night. His hair is just so painfully dorky. Specifically his bangs (fringe for my British peeps lol). It’s slightly better in season 2 than season 1 but still so bad. I’m Canadian but lived in the UK (Scotland) for a year over 2003-2005 and I really can’t remember cool guys having bangs like that. Only the dorkiest of dorks would have a haircut like that in Canada. I know Scotland and England are different countries and admittedly I have not spent much time in England (and never been to Bristol) but from what I could tell the fashion trends were approximately the same. Is it a regional thing? Like how girls from Jersey do that pouf things with their hair? I just cannot reconcile a cool guy having hair like that. And Tony seems like a cooler than cool cocky popular guy…is he not as cool as I think? He looked so hot with his hair slicked back for the choir thing. Why wouldn’t he always do that? Or at least not have those fucking bangs…Please I must know…
Edit to add: I know Chris and Sid have the same dork bangs but somehow it doesn’t bother me as much as it does on Tony. I guess because they are kind of dorky 😹🤷🏻♀️
The mmhmm prick hard moment between Luke & franky makes me die everytime I hear it 😭 but let’s get a cringey gen 3 lines thread going here
Who gave the best / your favorite acting performance in Skins: Generation 3?
Hey guys,
Based on watching Skins and the reception in both countries. It seems there's religious groups in the US who oppose "debauchery" or anything to do with sensuality.
Historically, many Puritan groups from the US strongly advocated for an "ascetic lifestyle." I'm not the first to notice this idea. American filmmaker Larry Clark also said that there's groups in the US who dislike his portrayal of young people since it goes against their religious and ideological beliefs.
In my opinion, historically, British society has had a lot of libertine characters like Pete Doherty or Stephen Bear. I'm going to focus on Bear. It seems to me British audiences are more accepting of Bear: "Like keep Bear around; He makes for good tele." I think British Anglicanism understands that becoming good is a process. While in America, many denominations, like Methodism, have a black-and-white view of morality.
Or maybe I'm reading too into it, and it only has to do with TV censorship standards in the US. For instance, television authorities that need to determine what is acceptable to mass audiences.
Wait why does everyone dislike this gen?? I rlly liked it I would even say it’s my favorite (liv is my fav) I would rlly wanna know everyone’s take! 😌
Everyone needs to meet the woman that Liv meets at the hospital.
I fawkin luv it
Is there a collection of them somewhere?
I really like the headphones one he wears in S2 E3 (I think), but also most of them are cool!
Does anyone know the town where the boat Marlin Bay is in harbor? They dont say in the script the name of the town but I thought it was on the west coast somewhere does anyone know?
Freddie was clearly sexualy assaulted by her, i mean he was 15… And it’s not clear if he was okay with that or no but still, how can a grown ass woman do something like this, it’s not even legal, and even less moral… In the show, Cook and Freddie talk about it during like 30 seconds, but thinking about it it’s weird asf and quite disturbing. Idk maybe i’m a bit overreacting but they made it look like it’s not a big deal, but it kinda is i think.
JJ was always a character I related to so much, being autistic, and also being quite a doppelganger (I first found out because my friends asked me why I didn't tell them I was in Skins). Something I kinda always wondered though- in his sex experience with Emily, they both wear socks, whereas when he has sex with Lara, they are both barefoot. Is it supposed to be a sign of his experience being deeper the second time, is it a sign of confidence (like the socks were a sign of shyness), or is it just a perfectly mundane reason, like the second scene was a warmer time lol?
I watched some episodes many many years ago when I was a teen but I decided to actually watch the whole series as an adult. Almost done with season one and Angie makes me cringe soooo bad. I hope she gets caught and thrown into jail. It’s so crazy cause when I was a teenager I remembered I liked her character and almost sympathized with her
if so, do you think the writers had the intention?
I know he was going to die but a part of me wonders if she brought it on early.
Is it ever winter in Bristol? I was laughing my ass off half of the time, cos I swear I’ve never seen a character wear a sweater or jacket or,god forbid, both
Seriously,Effy is just half naked most of season 3 and then,in season 4,when she gets back home she’s wearing two shirts and a flannel, and it’s supposed to be August! (Cos they get the results of the exams)
Didn’t whoever dressed these kids think about temperature?A timeline?Seasons maybe?
I was fully supportive of Jals abortion storyline she was so young and had such a bright future ahead for her but after Chris died shortly after it broke my heart that she could of had the baby and had a part of him with her forever 😭
The fact that that baby would now be 16 assuming she had the baby in 2008 which is the age they were at the start of Skins like we could of had a reboot with their kid too, then in a few years Mini and Alos kid 🥲
Does anyone know how the skins us cast is doing today? I tried to look up some of the cast but didn’t find any information
So I am now all the way through season 3 and I see a lot of similarities between Cook and Chris. The pills, needing to always do something dangerous to feel alive, the family situation, etc. The only difference is that Cook is more of an asshole than Chris. Chris did care about his friend and had a huge heart that he wasn’t afraid to show. But Cook at least so far is just an ass to everyone especially Freddy, Naomi, and JJ.
I mean starting it off with a girl jumping to her death is certainly a way to get the audiences attention. I also see why everyone likes gen 2 so much, gen 1 will always be special (especially Cassie, Chris, and Maxxie), but gen 2 is so fun and I love JJ right now.
Just seeing her standing at the bus station abandoned (probably deservedly so), is a stark reminder of being left behind by all those you know around you moving on with their lives. Twisted character but I still feel a tinge of sadness every time.
First one sounds like some metal riff and second is more electronic. Sorry for bad grammar, not my native language. Can’t find these two tracks anywhere sadly
We got stand-alone episodes from Cook, Effy & Cassie so we got to see what they got up to years later but I thought it would be fun to hear some of you guys theories or thoughts on where the rest ended up?! You don’t need to do every character but you can if you want 🫶!
Has anyone made a digestible Timeline for skins?
