I’m so disappointed omg, I’ve been using the lash serum for 5 days every morning and night, I was already seeing improvement but I just noticed I got a small stye on my top lash line and I’ve been using a warm tea bag to try and get rid of it. I guess I’m gonna have to stop using the serum, I’m so sad about it. I even heard that some people’s lashes FALL OUT after discontinuing it, is there anything I can do to prevent that or regrow them if it happens cause istg I’ll be so pissed. 🥲 has this happened to anyone else?
Hi everyone. So I'm a 25 year old female and have been noticing a loss of volume in my mouth and cheek area since the past year. The loss of facial volume I have is most noticeable in my smile line area, where if I smile too hard and for too long, these super deep creases show up and don't go away for a couple hours (I have to be resting my face for those 2 hours and not smiling for them to disappear again). When I don't smile, the lines are either non-existant or just barely visible.
I've become really insecure about them and I'm not sure, but I believe they're do to lack of hydration to the skin, so I use hyaluronic acid and a good moisturizer as well as drinking 3 litres of water a day, but they still haven't really gotten better. When I wear makeup, the area also creases really badly no matter what I do, and it's just so discouraging.
I would like to know what you guys think these lines might be caused by, and what I can do about them? I would love to stick to the natural route as I don't want to get work done on my face aside from microneedling treatments and the like, but any adivce, cosmetic or surgical, is still helpful. I've added photos below for your reference. Please let me know what you guys think!!!!
I have closed comedones that were extracted about 10 months ago from a facial. They’ve since resurfaced recently because i tried out new skincare that had fungal acne triggers. I’ve been using chemical exfoliants (glycolic acid and salicylic acid) and they’ve gone down a bit… but there are still tiny bumps that are stubborn and won’t go away. I have a facial consultation booked at a clinic next week. What kind of facial treatments would be effective for closed comedones? I don’t want them to sell me something that doesn’t do anything, at the same time I don’t really know what works. Thanks for advice!
I have sensitive, extremely dry, and flaky skin on my face while also having moderate hormonal acne and eczema. All of these issues combined ultimately led me to the dermatologist and they prescribed Clindamycin - Benzoyl Peroxide Gel, Tretinion, Spironolactone for my face and Triamcinolone Acetonide Cream for my back and arms eczema ( when I told my primary care about the new prescriptions he said I might have gotten the kitchen sink thrown at me lol ). My dermatologist stressed the it will get worse before it gets better and it will dry out my skin a lot so I should start slow with the different creams. I usually use a hydrating cleanser, occasionally a softening toner and a thick moisturizer before bed. My main question is has anyone else with similar skin issues had these products prescribed and how did you incorporate them into your routine while avoiding over drying out your skin? Also wondering if these products helped in the long run with improving dry skin or do they just make it worse. I’ve heard of a couple different methods but none of them seem to have been for someone who already has super dry skin. Definitely feeling a little lost and overwhelmed on how to tackle this so any advice would be greatly appreciated!
I know, I know it's been all Over tik tok! I'm curious if this has been helpful for anyone. :)
I'm looking for recommendations for moisturizer that isn't going to burn when I use it. I have extremely dry, sensitive skin on my face and neck that breaks out into a giant dry, rashy eczema mess most of the non-summer months - and is one bad day away from a breakout during the summer (triggers: not drinking enough water, getting insufficient sleep - I have 2 kids hahaha, being stressed out, too much dry AC, etc.)
I've had patch testing done and I'm allergic to some very common perfume and fragrance additives, butyl alcohol, and neroli oil.
At the recommendation of my dermatologist, I've tried CeraVe and Aveeno Eczema Care, but those burn my skin. I've also tried Lubriderm, Cetaphil, Eucerine, and I can't even use Vaseline without my face turning into a red, burning mess.
Any product recommendations would be immensely appreciated!
Please recommend a moisturizer that fits these two criteria:
I have tried some gel moisturizers like Neutrogena before but they don't feel moisturizing enough. CeraVe makes my skin burn. I need a rich moisturizer but not to rich or I get those white heads 😭😭😭😭 Please help thank you.
Does anyone know what happened to the Real Skincare Discussion group on Facebook? It’s been offline since August. I loved all of the advice and input shared there.
I have naturally pale and very sensitive skin. I have tried a lot of products out there with no help. If I even two times a week use cleansers while in the shower with cold water that are labeled for sensitive skin I still get dryness. I have really ugly blackheads on my nose and I still get slight breakouts on my cheeks and forehead of acne.
Aveeno Calm + Restore Facial Cleanser for Sensitive Skin is what I have been using more recently as a cleanser in the shower with cold water. I also have been using and Aveeno product as the moisturizer (Aveeno Calm + Restore Oat Gel Facial Moisturizer for Sensitive Skin). My friends that are into skin care have claimed that the moisturizer I have been using with Aveeno is not powerful enough and it's not going to help retain moisture within the skin. Some of them even suggested using this moisturizer and then putting a much more abrasive and heavy duty moisturizer on top of the moisturizer.
I want to note I have never used anything back other than a cleanser and a moisturizer. I am somewhat curious of what using products like toners might do.
my jar of ponds cold cream was once a creamy, thick lotiony texture (like normal) and now it is like a 100% melted runny milkshake texture. is it expired? is it just too hot in my apartment? i can't find ANYTHING online about this and it's making me feel like i've gone insane... why is there no info out there about this and what does it mean?
it's super strange to me that there's seemingly no information out there about why this would be happening so i guess i'm getting it out there. Why has my jar of ponds lotion cold cream turned into a jar of ponds milk? is it still safe to use (if extremely inconvenient and gross)? have i slipped into a pocket dimension where this has only happened to me?
Sit tight, this will be a long one. (TLDR below) So I feel like I’ve run out of treatment options. I’ve dealt with acne for the past ~13 years and have been with the same dermatology practice for about 8 years and have consulted with various doctors/PAs. I have normal/oily skin and am prone to acne.
Here’s a rundown of what medications I’ve taken and its duration (to the best of my memory):
Regimen 1: AM - Aczone + GlyCream 15, moisturizer + SPF PM - Aczone, Retin-A micro (0.08%), moisturizer Duration - about 3.5 years Notes: Mainly dealing with teenage acne but this really helped clear my skin. My skin cleared in within 3-4 months.
Regimen 2: AM - Clindamycine + GlyCream 15, moisturizer + SPF PM - Aczone, Retin-A, moisturizer, minocycline (can’t recall the dosage but it was a low dose) Duration - about 1.5 years Notes: Following my success with Regimen 1, this is the BEST my skin has ever looked! Glycolic acid (AM) and Retin-A (PM) was a godsend and my complexion was the embodiment of glass skin. My dermatologist suggested adding in minocycline because I was experiencing minor breakouts around my period. Understandably, it is normal to break out during my period, I just wanted picture perfect skin 😭
Regimen 3: AM - wash face, moisturizer + SPF PM - wash face, Accutane (20-30mg) Duration - 6 months Notes: So I was taking minocycline for almost 1.5 years. My dermatologist continuously urged me to stop taking them after 6 months of consistent usage since she was concerned I would become resistant. I was stubborn and scared my skin was going to break out egregiously so I continued to take a very low dose of minocycline. My skin wasn’t awful but, it could have been clearer, so perhaps I was slowly becoming resistant to the medication… I finally caved and decided to do Accutane, since a friend had great success with it. When they took me off the minocycline, to prepare for the Accutane treatment, I began breaking out some more. I experienced breakouts for the 3 months taking Accutane, but it began to clear up for the remaining 3 months of treatment and the month following post-treatment. After that, I began to break out. HORRIBLY. The PA I was consulting prescribed Winlevi (AM/PM) and Retin-A (PM) since she concluded my acne was due to a hormonal change (lowkey vague statement but I digress). Although she was confident Accutane would be successful, she reminded me that some people regress following treatment. I continued the Winlevi + Retin-A regimen for about 2 months but experienced the worst sensitivity ever. The Retin-A I was prescribed was too strong for my skin and was making it raw. I would apply LRP cicaplast balm and Aquaphor to heal my skin but the Retin-A didn’t allow my skin to heal in time before it peeled and shed off. Also, I was breaking out mainly around my jawline. Everyday, I would have 2-4 new pimples and was overwhelmed by hyperpigmentation and pitted scars.
My dermatologist altered my regimen to: AM - Winlevi, moisturizer + SPF PM - Tretinoin (0.025%), Winlevi, moisturizer, Spironolactone 50mg Can’t say my skin is doing any better since my acne has now migrated to my cheeks and temples. I have 1-4 new pimples daily but at least my skin isn’t raw flesh…
I went in for a check up so she could assess my progress and adjust my medication. She decided to continue the same prescriptions but increasing the spironolactone to 100mg. I want to be patient but I’m at my wits ends and am considering consulting a different practice to see if they have a different opinion.
TLDR; So here’s my dilemma: My dermatologist suggested three contingency plans if 100mg spironolactone isn’t successful. A) Increase Spironolactone B) Second round of Accutane C) Take Accutane ONLY during your period
Has anyone had success once they increased their spironolactone intake? Any success with a second round of Accutane? Did a brief Google search on option C and haven’t come across any testimonials about taking Accutane ONLY during menstruation, so I’m highly skeptical of this option…
I genuinely appreciate it if you’ve made it this far into my post (rant?). At this point, I’m overwhelmed and beyond frustrated with my skin. Any recommendations and testimonials would be greatly appreciated! ❤️❤️
Ive used/using squalane, but i want to know what else. Jojoba oil was good, and felt nice and skin, and diidnt look too greasy, but i may or may not have broken out form it. I have normal to dry, clog prone, acne prone, sensitive skin.
im looking for an oil to use as a daily moisturizer, so twice a day.
Im curious about
Hemp oil,
Argan oil
Rosehip oil (will this slighlty irritate skin?)
Ive used differin for 12 weeks as i had horrendous break outs on my chin and jawline area, nothing really has changed other than texture and redness (which im greatful for) and im not sure where to go next. Private dermatologists in the UK cost a lot, and tret is only available on prescription.
Ive tried antibiotics (lymecycline) for 8 weeks and it didnt improve acne even on my back which i dont use any product for.
I have acne on my chest, back, face, neck, groin.
I used to have acne all over my face but then it shifted from my forehead (where i now have zero spots) to my cheeks (i rarely get spots here now) to now primarily on my chin. Any advice where to go next or what to do?
I received a large scratch from my cat on my face, going from my nose to my neck. Went to the dermatologist today to get some tips on scar prevention, and she recommended Scaraway silicone sheets, but I forgot to ask if sunscreen should go under or over them!
I searched this sub and saw a lot of people recommending both, but I haven’t seen what order to use them in. Should suncreen go over the sheets?
Also, does it matter whether I use chemical or physical sunscreen on a healing cut?
barrier is really damaged.
bought cicaflate to heal my skin - seems like it leaves my skin red, dry, and oily. have used for two weeks thinking that if I stick with it, the side effects would eventually go away. even barrier creams burn. going to purchase the avene soothing recovery cream. current routine is no cleanser, avene cicaflate, and I just got off soolantra like two days ago (soolantra did not work)
i'm 19F and my skin was clear all summer, but now i am getting painful cysts?!/nodules (or just pimples with no head) all over my cheeks and sometimes chin. is this hormonal acne?
i want to start adding spearmint tea to my night routine (drinking it) as well as begin to overall change my diet, because that might be it. i have been eating more chocolate + bread. i also was wondering what are you recent fav skincare products if you have similar situations, i also want to look into centella/mugwort for my skin.
my skin is normal/slightly oily.
thank you for any advice
Is it Milia..? I don’t normally get these and they’re persistent little buggers. They’ve stuck around through two facials. Any recommendations to get rid of them welcome!
I’ve been using the CeraVe moisturizing cream for years now and my dry skin loves it, but for the last few months I’ve noticed that my skin has become sensitized to it. Tried pairing back morning and night routines to just cleanser, moisturizer, and SPF for a couple of weeks to no positive result. It turns the skin around my eyes bright red and burns so badly that I had to stop applying it there.
Would appreciate some recommendations for similar ceramide-moisturizers that are available in Canada, and preferably cruelty-free😊
I’ve (22) been on Accutane twice now. My acne isn’t cystic, and it’s not severe, but I still get a lot of painful pimples. They’re red, sometimes even purple, and I’ve tried everything—diet changes, birth control, topical treatments—but nothing seems to work. I’m feeling really frustrated and defeated; I’ve spent hundreds of euros, and it’s affecting my mental health. If anyone has any recommendations, I’d be really grateful.
I've been trying to find a sunscreen I can't see/feel and it's between two. Beauty of Joseon and Supergoop unseen.
The BoJ I can't feel but leaves a slight sheen and the Supergoop I can't see but can feel all day. Any liquid sunscreen has been bad for me consistently so I'm looking for a cream/gel that's close to either of these.
I'm a 28 year old fella, there's nothing particularly bad about my skin (I think) but I reckon it's time I should start taking care of it before I get older.
Right now I just use E45 to moisturise in the morning and at night and some retinal thing I got, in the evening.
I don't have any proper cleanser, and not sure what exactly what else. I'm thinking to add:
Better Moisturiser (I see a lot of people suggesting cerave but I don't know which one(s) to get - preferably cheap)
Suncream (I guess the moisturiser could include that?)
SA cream? I think my pores in my T-Zone look like they could do with a cleanout
Tretinoin (ordered already from skinorac)
Cleanser - I have no idea what's good
I've tried looking into these things but there's so many options and I'm finding it quite overwhelming. Could anyone recommend some products to me that you stand by? Preferably not high budget items 😬
Hi all!
First of all I’m no expert, but I love skin care and have been a true addict for a long time. I would love to hear your opinions about my AM and PM routines. I’m in doubt if I’m doing it in the wrong order and if I should cut something out or add something else.
AM: Hyaluron + Niacinamide + Day cream + SPF
In my PM I switch between some different routines:
1: Lactic Acid + Night cream + C Vitamin Eye cream
2: Retinol + Night cream
3: Drunk Elephant TLC Baby facial mask / Hydrating mask
I was wondering if I should add C vitamin to my routine? And if so where and when? And should I skip something else?
I’m 30 years old. My skin is normal with some pigmentation/sun damage and some redness here and there. My skin is clear and my skin can tolerate everything (so far).
Thank you!!! Would appreciate any advice!
Ps: I was just gifted “The Glow Serum” from Mantle - was wondering how I should incorporate this in my routine?
I am 22f and I have never really had problems with my skin and it has been clear other than the occasional chin and forehead acne during my teenage years. Previously my routine consisted of Cerave Hydrating Facial Cleanser and Cerave Mosturizer with Sunscreen. That’s it lol. Even thought I don’t have problems with my skin, I really want to hydrate my skin more and target dark spots I’ve noticed on my skin. I want to start exploring different skincare products.

Any product recommendations or changes I should make based on what I want to achieve with my skin??? Advice is appreciated!!!
Hiii I’m trying to get rid of stubborn milia on my cheeks, I use Glycolic Acid and Tretinoin in rotation & need a really lightweight water based oil-free moisturiser that won’t clog my pores. Ideally no vitimin C or Salicylic acid because these irritate my skin. I’m used to using Clinique Dramatically Different Hydrating JELLY and I love how thin this is and how quick it dries but I really want to try something different. Also if anyone’s had milia in the past and knows of any tips or products that might help I’d really appreciate it, thanks :)
Hello all!
I stopped using tretinoin (0.025% prescription) about a year ago after 2-3 years of consistent use for my acne and skin texture. I discontinued it due to a bad episode of POD and other skin issues. At that time, my skincare routine was just a face wash and moisturizer with the tret.
My skin has gotten better since then with my current routine. Still occasionally having few pimples (which I suspect are hormonal). Now interested in reintroducing tretinoin to some acne scarring and fine lines.
Here’s my current routine:
Evening: LRP Effaclar H Iso-Biome wash, Soon Jung Relief toner, The Inkey List Azelaic Acid or Paula’s BHA (alternating every other day), CeraVe Moisturizing lotion
+(Sometimes LRP Cicaplast Baume, Aquaphor, Mixsoon Bifida sheet masks)
Morning: water rinse if i feel like it, hypochlorous acid spray, Soon Jung Relief toner, The Inkey List Azelaic Acid, CeraVe Moisturizing lotion, Skin1004 SPF
How should I go about reintroducing tretinoin? Should I stop completely using azelaic acid and BHA, or is there a way to safely use everything?
Edited; spelling
My face is the only place I wear sunscreen daily, but it's also the darkest part of my body compared to all the other parts that's often exposed to sunlight.
I'd love to age gracefully! I understand that we start producing less collagen, so I know about the collagen supplements part. Is there anything else you would recommend I start doing? Truthfully, this is a skincare subreddit but any beauty and generally health advice is appreciated! I'm thinking of starting botox soon. I get microneedling done once every blue moon.
What are you guys using to help with dark spots and hyperpigmentation on your hooha & bum areas? Prefer cleaner products and safe for the vag area.
I know this is early but what are some good affordable advent calendars? (I'm in US, and usually uses little to no makeup, mostly lip products and skincare) Thanks!
Years ago i used isotretinoin and skin was better, Some months ago I started to have cystic acne and some pimples, the first one was in my shoulder, then in my neck and chin, I was using neutrogena cleanser and moister, then changed to cerave oil cleanser, stopped using ZMA, creatine, protein powder, all dairy (3 weeks ago), coffee, started with zinc, continue with benzoyl peroxide (I was using it for a long time), green tea, and nothing, now I have the same old one in my neck that dissappeared and some pimples in chin and mouth.
Went to 3 Dermatologist and did nothing, zinc didnt help, quitting dairy neither, now I readed in the reddit than cerave caused cystic or breakouts to some people, but I think I had the first cyst before cerave, Im thinking to change to la roche posay effaclar.
Any recomendation?
