FFB Randomly stops working in RBR

Hey all, I'm having an issue in RBR when after playing for some time in the middle of a rally, my FFB just stops, The only thing i could find to bring it back is just restarting the game completely, I have a PXN v99 and I do have to enable the whell through the custom registry in the control settings in the launch menu to play with FFB, any info on why this is happening would be great, i cant seem to tweak the settings and fix it but maybe im missing something. Thanks in advanced!

Wheel Friction in Dirt Rally 2.0

I had to figure this out on my own. So, I thought I'd post about it.

I'd come to the conclusion that unlike in track racing you don't need heavy FFB to stay connected to the road in rally. My main objective was actually just to keep control of the car. And I couldn't do that if every time I hit a bump or went around a corner I had to fight the wheel. This was especially important because I'm using a sequential shifter and have one hand on the wheel at times.

So, I would turn my Self Aligning Torque down and make the wheel really light. But it still didn't feel good. I still wanted to feel the torque and bumps, I just didn't want to have to fight the wheel. I ended up taking another look at Wheel Friction, having previously written it off as a useless effect that just made my wheel heavier.

I figured out what Wheel Friction is actually doing is holding the wheel steady. I turned it up more than I thought was prudent and suddenly I could control the car again even with higher Self Aligning Torque. It didn't try to jerk my wrist when I went over a bump or around a corner and I could spin the wheel to its max rotation without worrying about it not wanting to come back the other way. In other words, my wheel was no longer trying to kill me. I could still feel the torque and bumps, but they no longer controlled my wheel.

TLDR: Wheel Friction is a bit like power steering when set properly. Balance control with feel for ideal results. Don't listen to the F1 bros with super stiff brakes and 20 nm of torque. Rally is its own beast.

RWD drift in RBR

Hi guys, I am having some troubles drifting continuously with RWD cars in RBR. While I can drift on individual corners, I can't do multiple donuts for example. I tried different things, throttle early-late, strong-weak, but one way or another I either spin the car or I don't have enough power, I can't find a balance. I am not a pro drifter, but I have no problem with drifting in AC, no matter if it is a front engine drift car or a stock mid-engine car. I mostly drive AWD cars in RBR, for fun I decided to try drifting and I am stuck with it. Are there any people among you who can drift on AC and RBR ? Can you please give me some tips ?

How much Force while breaking?

Hi, I recently discovered on RBR that visually I can’t see the weight transfer. Im having high FPS the games feels too smooth. I thought maybe I could motorise the seat belt and feel how much I brake is applied.

I wonder how much force would be reasonable and not too much to brake my collar bones 😀 Did anyone did similar things and know maybe which kind of motor to use?

Can someone help me find out why I can't turn with a handbrake?

[video below] I'm using RBR RSF, first time on a wheel controller, I've put in a couple of hours in the Rally School, now I'm doing the first advanced lesson, handbrake turning.

I'm using a Renault Clio R5. When I see the demonstration I just don't get how the guy slides as if on sand. But that's not the main problem. Right now I'm trying to understand why when I'm exiting the corner the engine shuts down even though I'm always keeping the throttle at least 50%. The RPM just slides to 0...

I'm using the clutch pedal as handbrake btw.

I've been itching to ask also another question, I've been using the 2 metal plates behind the wheel to gear up and down without using the clutch, and it seems to work ok, does it automatically press the clutch in the background?

RSF/RBR - I friggin worked for this time

Kicked off Holiday break with a bug in my buns to just try and push myself on a track and work up leaderboards some. I’m not all that great at this, so finding a stage that felt like the right challenge was a bit of a task. I ended up having a great time on Piren Tarmac, driving the 03 Impreza.

After a while, I found myself really wishing we could start a track part way through or drop a check point to spawn in.(That’s not a feature I’ve missed, right?) There were a few areas in the back half that REALLY wanted some precision if I didn’t want to go flying. Would have been nice to try a few different lines without having to redo the whole first half of the stage.

Anyway, I’m just excited about this and wanted to share! And if any one has any meaningful tips or thoughts on my driving, feel free to toss it out as well! I don’t really engage folks much with this stuff so I’d be curious what type of mistakes I could be making!

RallySimFans RBR sadden lack FFB

Hello its not my first install, I have been around RSF some time and it was great. I didnt had time for sim racing since summer so when I tried to run rsf i have spot there is an update (the big one which needs torrenting all the files). Whats more OpenVR stopped working so I figured out I will update the whole thing. After that not only OpenVR still doesn't work but I have zero ffb on my t300rs ! :( I tried to reinstall everything from scratch with no luck, please help ! Really I beg you guys. Its the best sim out there and its kinda depressing to not be able to feel anything. :( Thank you all in advance !

Professional setups EA WRC

Hi,

Do you know any sites- paid or free with professional setups for EA WRC (except RallyTechnical which I already know)? Like for example GoSetups for ACC.

Ts-xw

Hey all, just got my first wheel and wanted to hear about how you have it setup for dirt 2.0 and ea wrc. I’m on Xbox so those are the only two worthwhile rally games.

If it helps, I am looking for the most realistic experience possible within the limitation of my hardware and choice of games. (I know Richard burns is the holy grail but that isn’t on the Xbox).

Thanks in advance!

T300RS GT Buttons

Hey Simrally, I know this might not be the place for troubleshooting but I am really lost and demotivated. So I upgraded from a g29 to a T300 two months ago, was really stoked to play RBR with the new set up as well but the buttons on the rim does not respond at all, the ffb is fine though. I’ve got to ask as a last resort cause I havent rallied or raced in a long time and my holiday is about to be over. Any help would be awesome. Again sorry if this is out of topic.

Just a question from a rally noob.

(Just skip my background for this question if you don't care): One time, I decided to look at an edit for the Audi Quattro S1 since it is my dad's favourite rally car. An algorithm from youtube later and now I am watching old videos of Jimmy Broadbent from the KT WRC games and now really want a rally game myself. However, I don't know if WRCG has been updated for most it's bugs that were there at the start and don't know if I am going to like to play DR2 since I like the graphics from WRCG but know the handling is better for the older cars for the DR2 game. Sooooooo... now my question.

What Rally game should I ask for Christmas for my PS4 as a rally noob, WRCG or DR2?

Forza Horizon 5 Rally Adventure DLC vs Dirt Rally 2.0

I recently started simracing, using assetto corsa and fh5 and I tried the fh5's rally adventure dlc But I was wondering if is it actually simrally (difficulty set to simulation) in terms of handling or just arcadey and I should look into Dirt Rally 2.0?

RBR Help

Hello, about a week ago i installed an original version of rbr and i got pretty good at it. However i learned that i have an original version and not the one everyone talks about, So i installed it off of Rallysimfans, now i’m pretty sure i just suck.

Specifically making turns, my handbrake in this game doesn’t do jacks***t it just grinds me to a hault. i cant finish stages consistentlyish however i have to slow down to almost a full stop to make turns. Ive tried to disable NGP but that just prevented my game from booting. I just really need advice on making turns, btw im using an xbox controller

Importing Dirt 2.0 models to AC

Is there a way to put dirt 2.0 models into assetto corsa? Specifically the Rallycross Peugeot, 6r4, Delta, and RS200.
