In Undertale, this kid speaks in a southern accent and is associated with the color yellow, which the western-themed soul has. That's because Toby Fox thought players would be introduced to the character without realizing that he's indeed, a cow boy.

In Dragon Quest VIII (2004), I first played this game and my friend called me. We talked for 3 hours and I spent the time grinding on the overworld because I couldn't really play on the phone. I thought I'd be over-leveled...but the boss was somehow 2 levels higher than me. Like, what the hell?

In Terranigma (1995), the entire world is revealed to be a cycle where the ending goal of the game sets up the beginning of your next playthrough. This is reference to hit, indie darling, Undertale.

In Dead To Rights Retribution (2010), Jack Slate, a US Cop, gleefully disarms suspects with brutal methods that murder the suspect after excruciating pain. He also gleefully sicks his dog, Shadow, on unarmed suspects. This is the most accurate and realistic element of the entire game series.

In YiiK: A Postmodern RPG (2019), you can mock a party member to unalive themselves by mocking their dead sister. This is a subtle nod to the game devs not knowing how to make any of the characters likable.

In Unlimited Saga (2005), I don't know what's going on? How does anything work? I have watched the tutorial series twice. Someone help, I only know CoD and Final Fantasy! Why is everything a slot machine!

Despite being the first game in the series to feature the Revenant's ability to fly, at no point during DOOM (2016) do Doomguy nor Samuel Hayden quote Star Wars

In Spiderman 2, there is not one single reference to the sacred time of day, known as Pizza Time. This breaks the sacred Spiderman 2 rule, that Pizza Time and Spiderman 2 are inextricably linked. Thus, on May 24, 2026, The Pizza Monster will destroy us all.

In Super Mario Bros. Wonder (2023), the final bonus stage of the Special World is titled "WONDER?". This may be a subtle nod to the fact that the game is called Super Mario Bros. Wonder.

The Evel Knievel 3D Stunt Game from the late 90s that my dad and I used to play allowed you do stunts which we would fail majority of the time. This is the reference to Xbox and Sony pulling big stunts these past 2 weeks and flopping hard in the eyes of the public.

Toby Fox's hit indie game 'Undertale' (2015) is a game that I like. This is a subtle reference to the fact that I'm queer.

The final boss of Metal Gear Solid 4 switches your HUD to say "Naked Snake" as a reference to the protagonist of Metal Gear Solid 3. However, this is actually a misconception, instead being a leftover development asset referring to how Old Snake was originally planned to be nude during this fight.

In Disco Elysium, if police detective Harry points a gun at the girl Cunoesse, she encourages him to shoot with the words, "SET ME FREE!" Harry's partner Kim then says "Don't" to Harry. This proves that Kim supports slavery.

Disney will be releasing a Star Wars Overwatch Clone next month and a Marvel OW Clone next year. This is a reference to how (just like with their movies and shows) Disney likes to oversaturate the market with their IPs.

In Mario Party Superstars, there’s a character to greet you as you hover over the menu options, except in the friend house. This is a nod to the fact that you have no friends.
