Help

I just graduated from college a couple months ago and I live in a house with 6 other people. We initially moved into a house in September that was under construction without a lease and we had no kitchen for the first 3 months of us living there. Our landlord is barely around and we don't even know his last name. He told us that he would send us our utility bill every month but he never did. Multiple things are broken around our house and he never answers when we ask him to come fix it.

Our security deposit was $900 and he told us at the beginning of the year that everyone usually gets it back.

Everyone's rent is $1000 a month, 3 people have missed 3-4 months of rent due to personal, financial, and forgetful reasons.

The three people that missed rent are totally okay with not getting their security deposit back, but we're worried that the other 3 people who have paid rent every month will not be getting their security deposit back.

We're also concerned that he will hit us with a multi-thousand dollar bill (all of the missed rent and utilities) at the end of our lease, which is coming up at the end of August. Is this even legal if he does decide to sue us or is it possible that he won't even care enough to do so?

what is your biggest problem when shopping for an apartment

Hi everyone! My name is Dylan and I am trying to get some feed back on a concept I have. I am curious if you could tell me what your biggest problems are when shopping on line, especially that could included apartments, cars, air bnb, furniture, or clothing. I appreciate your time!

Saskatoon housing

I have been searching for a place to live. I am a professional female, but I'm looking for something affordable. I still have student loans that I'm paying and a line of credit. I just want a one bedroom that is not surrounded by students or children. Because I have a cat, I'm finding this to be an impossible task. Why are all the nice places not pet friendly?

You ever have so many apartment/landlord issues that you feel like you should have a lawyer on retainer?

Wondering if it's just me

Question about ac venting

So, to clarify. I live in a double wide trailer. Its under disrepair but not to the point of unlivable. However, my father decided to go under the house because one of the vents looked crushed, like animals had been sleeping on top of it. Now, our AC on one side of the house isn't as strong as the other side but with him 'unsquishing' it now we have no ac on one side at all. It doesn't make sense as we ran a snake through the vents thinking it was a clog, and a vacuum and nothing. The snake runs right through so it's not the vents. He went back under the house and it's blowing air under it like normal. What else could be the problem? I'm bad at electrician stuff or housing stuff in general but I'm asking for him cause he has no idea what else it could be. Ideas please if you can.

Pest control is part of the media package?

I'm trying to understand this:

We have a media package that you would pay for monthly, $174.00, that includes; internet, trash valet, pest control, Fetch and Dwelo.

So, I can understand "media" including internet, but I don't understand how they're tying in trash "valet" (?) or pest control, and I'm not finding what they mean by "Fetch", and I don't know why residents need "Dwelo" (I certainly don't care to have anything in my home relying on servers on the internet except for devices needed just to have internet).

Also, there's this!

Utilities are paid by the resident, gas and electric would be put in your name and are metered to your apartment. Water/Sewer/Common Utilities are also metered to the apartment and are charged to you on the first of every month with your rent!

Geesh, OK so that's probably another $200-300.

Have you run into this kind of nonsense? Any idea what's meant by "Fetch"?

I'll be passing on the place, especially considering their link to floor plans goes to a "403 Forbidden" page 😆

Questions about section 8

My parents was recently approved for section 8 and they found a place that they thought was suitable and they did all the paperwork with the housing authority but they still haven’t signed their lease they keep getting the run around and given different dates to sign and they are now having second thoughts and don’t think this is the right place for them due to that. Is it too late to back even though they haven’t signed the lease but did sign the paperwork with the higher ups?
