I recently installed SharePoint SE On-Premises. I am in a hybrid environment and have users in security groups. I have a group called SP_visitors in my on-premises AD that is synchronized to the cloud and contains all users who should have access to the intranet. I configured trust between my SharePoint server and Azure AD using OpenID to allow members of my organization to authenticate via SSO to the local SharePoint site. Some users can successfully connect to the intranet without issues, but for others, after the Azure authentication page, they are redirected to the site and see the message "Sorry, this item is not shared with you."i need your help to solve this issue, as all users are in the same security group. Thanks
I would like to setup a SharePoint site with only certain folders being external.
Something like Client-> project 1 then having internal folder and an external folder with only the external one having the ability to be shared externally.
If a user syncs sharepoint folders to their personal computer for offline access and then leaves the company, is there a way for the O365 admin to remotely wipe those offline company files from that computer?
I'm trying to figure out a custom trigger/automation flow with SharePoint and the Excel App that seems simple, perhaps it's not.
At work, we have have excel files that are dropped into SharePoint each day manually with custom headers.
We then work the file until completion, and when it's done, I need the data from the excel file to copy/merge itself onto one existing file, but only triggered when someone sets it to "complete" status.
So far, I inserted a column with choices, and titled it "Reporting Status" with custom choices as "complete", "to do", and "in progress."
I can't figure out how to create a flow that's only triggered when that specific file is set to "Complete", and then how to copy it's rows/contents onto one large existing excel file in SharePoint.
We've already figured out how to have an existing file reflect in PowerBI, we're just trying to avoid having to use Excel Macros outside of SharePoint to do this.
I appreciate any help on this!
I am trying to add a footer to our default SharePoint site. When I click the "Change the Look" menu there is no option for The Footer. I am seeing options for Theme, Header and Navigation as expected. I even tried to enable the footer using Poweshell. The script runs successfully and I am able to verify that it's enabled using Get-PnpFooter but the footer and the menu option remain missing.
Is it still not recommended to use it? It has been more than 10 years since its launch.
Within a particular site on SharePoint online, around 2 weeks ago, users began being unable to share or copy links as it brings up the error stating a link couldn't be generated along with "Member could not share with higher permissions". Have been through all the permissions on another site and they're the exact same yet this one doesn't allow copy link or sharing. Users in the site owners group or higher are able to create sharing links but any permission levels below this are unable to generate a link. The setting allowing users with edit rights to share files and folders is also enabled. Users are added within the department document library with contribute access.
Has anyone seen this error before and care to share how they resolved it?
Hi there,
I currently manage my company's Sharepoint Intranet site from a Communications Perspective, we've had the site for a few years - since 2022 (pre-me joining the company).
I've been tasked with adding some more flavour and variety to our intranet by looking into new functionalities or apps that could be integrated with the site. Just wanted to see if anyone has any recommendations at all?
I found a Youtube video yesterday talking about the Co pilot feature which sounds cool, but I am not sure how to integrate this with our Sharepoint site, we do have a big IT team that monitors these things so need to be selective about what I request to integrate. In December we discovered the Advent calendar on apps to integrate but access came through late, so we used Canva in the end to build our own.
Any tips /tricks would be greatly appreciated as I couldn't find any threads discussing this (only people starting to build sharepoint from scratch).
If there's any examples of other communications sites to look at for inspiration that would be helpful too, I know alot of them are private as they are internal.
Thank you in advance

Has anyone had any success finding someone from LinkedIn, UpWork, or other sites?
Anybody have any good online resources for creating template sites in SharePoint? Has anybody created an online resource that will generate the JSON file and script for creating sites?
Our company policy is to use SharePoint (or OneDrive) for sharing files externally, but (for good reasons) our users sometimes use WeTransfer - particularly when sharing large files for public distribution, or for less sensitive files when our clients get frustrated that they can't simply forward working links to their colleagues.
Our global external sharing setting is New and Existing Guests but I would really like to create one site as a WeTransfer equivalent using Anyone permissions.
Does anyone know if this is possible without making the global maximum sharing setting more permissive? I really want to make this one site an exception rather than changing the rule for all (I'm aware that individual sites can be more restrictive than the global maximum).
Thanks!
My SharePoint list has two columns:
• “Start” (Date and Time)
• “End” (Date and Time)
What is the correct formula for a new calculated column “Duration” that returns the number of minutes elapsed between them?
I am trying this one:
=DATEDIF(Start, [End, "n")
But it is wrong.
Thank you!
Hi everyone!
Could you tell me how I can copy the structure of an existing SharePoint site along with its workflows and connectors in Power Automate?
I tried this yesterday and updated the URLs in the workflows within Power Automate to point to the new environment. However, the new SharePoint site is still using the data, user (owner), and some paths from the “old” site. Similarly, in Power Automate, it still runs the “old” workflow instead of the new (copied) one.
Any ideas on how to properly redirect everything to the new site and workflows?
Flow entity with name c60f7c8f-3e0c-4c02-bbc3-c027434ea82d does not exist in the store!
I have a SharePoint documents library on the backend that stores all documents on my SharePoint. Everyone in group 1 views the documents directly as a pdf. Everyone in group 2 is instead taken to the entire document library. Group 1 has edit access and group 2 has view access of the documents. What setting or permission am I missing that would allow group 2 to view the document rather than the document library?
I have a SharePoint list that has a text field that will have email addresses. Some of the email addresses could have a number in them such as myname1@gmail.com. It won't accept this value because of the number found within the email address. Is there any workaround for this?
Back in the day I was able to make InfoPath sing. I HATE that it's no longer supported. I am working on a new solution where I used to be able to hide sections within the form based on field values. I see that I am limited to form size now (we will only be using this on pc's, not phones) and can't find if sections are even a thing now. I am watching getting started videos and trying to get up to speed quickly. Any advice is greatly appreciated!!!!
I’m doing some volunteer work for a nonprofit and was asked if we could add more emojis to News posts reactions on their intranet site. Currently all that is available is a thumbs up 👍🏼.
I have SP documents with Managed Metadata columns.
I'm using several search methods for documents:
The problem is, our MM is hierarchical. Say in the term store, we have the typical hierarchical structure which looks like this:
- "Global term groups"
- Company term group
- Term set
- Term level 1
- Term Level 2
It appears some users are selecting Level 2 terms for their metadata, and some people are selecting only at Level 1. Can my three earlier use cases be addressed?
Hello all, I am trying to move an excel file generated by a form i created to a sharepoint document library. whatever I do , when i move the excel file, the link is broken, and then if i generate a new excel file in the form, it creates one in my documents in one drive. any way to move the file to sharepoint while keeping the link ?

Hi guys, how can I restrict users on SharePoint from creating new folders?
Hello All
so far i tried to make same reports as we are able to download from admin center but neither pnp nor sp module is not able to retrieve files and pages statistics like in original report.
gpt also fails to retrieve it from Graph although i have enough permissions.
any idea how to approach it?
I’m unable to install the January 2025 CI KB5002677 on our Office Online Server. The installation fails with a generic MSI error:
Event Log:"Product: Microsoft Office Web Apps Global Components – Update ‘Security Update for Microsoft Office Online Server (KB5002677) 64-Bit Edition’ could not be installed. Error code 1603."
Log File:"Assembly Install: Failing with hr=80070005 at RemoveDirectoryAndChildren, line 393."
When analyzing the process with Procmon, I noticed multiple "Access Denied" errors.
I have already tried several troubleshooting steps, including disabling the antivirus and UAC, as well as running the installation using the System account. However, the issue persists.
Does anyone have any ideas on how to resolve this?
Our organization has used SharePoint as an enterprise file storage for a decade (in libraries). We don't do anything else with it, just a file share. Around 600 users.
There are significant issues saving and working with files. Saved files can refuse to edit because another user has it open - not the case.
Editing a file will be unable to save and you have to save-as locally. Then try to overwrite the original file in SharePoint and can't because someone else or yourself has it open - they don't.
Can't drag and drop from Outlook, have to land on desktop first then to SharePoint.
Every time you open a file you have to answer a prompt if you want to edit or read only - we always want to edit.
Explorer view of the library is helpful but the same issues apply.
Our IT department knows little about it. Once we had a wizard but he left for greener pastures. Can a professional SharePoint person fix these types of problems Is there a better file system like one drive? We used to just use a network folder and it worked outstanding.
Anyone come across this error before and got a solution to fix it?
I've got one Hub Site in SharePoint Online named 'Projects', and 40 other SharePoint Online sites, that are all associated with the 'Projects' hub site. The 40 other sites are individual project sites (one site per project) that are either coming soon, in progress, or recently completed.
The 'Projects' Hub Site has a custom list that has all the individual project site names on it, with hyperlinks to the associated project site. I had to build the list manually, as I didn't see a web part that lists all sites associated with a hub site.
Does anyone know if such a web part exists? Can I have my Hub Site display links to all the associated sites?
Is it possible to sort a list by web traffic? I'd like the sites with the highest traffic visitor-wise be listed near the top of the list of the 40 project sites. Right now its alphabetical.
If that isn't possible, is there a way to display to a user their most common actions within a particular site? I am thinking a web part that looks up that user's history on the Projects site and displays their last five clicked links/docs/lists/libraries. Or their five most common clicks? Just to make it easier to get to certain sites?
how do I to setup a power automate Flow so if a status of an item in Sharepoint list changes to something like Obsolete, Broken, or sold then the whole row of that item will be removed from existing Sharepoint list and added to a excel list

I created a document Content Type probably at a site level, and created a Managed Metadata column called 'Project'; possibly it originated on a site.
I migrated all my site contents to another site, and remade the content types at the site collection level. I also moved the managed metadata to the global level in the Term store.
I made read-only and published my content type from the admin center, then updated and published from the Site-level content types page.
In Site Settings > "Content Type Publishing Hubs" I 'refreshed all publish content types on the next update'.
However, it's been days. In my Documents library, users cannot see Project in the details pane. In the Library Settings, the column is not getting used at all. On Show/Hide Columns, I cannot see a "Project" column to unhide.
Why is my column not associated with the Content Types? Is it possible to fix this without losing data?
Worst case the fix requires we delete and recreate the column with a new name. We have only a few hundred items in the library for now.
Hello all, I'm working on developing a SharePoint home page that documents each Task Order my department works on, and every subsequent project. For the larger task orders I was able to use "Quick Links" and the filmstrip function to display each subsequent project page. In the filmstrip, I can edit the image that is shown for the project page. For the task order I am currently working on, it only has one project rather than 12 like the others. I want to use the basic "Link" function to pull the project subpage to the main page. When I select edit properties on the link, there does not appear to be any form of image editor. All that I am provided with is the link title, the description, the display link toggle button, and alternative text. How do I edit the image so that it doesn't just show the grey/white broken glass looking image and instead shows a custom image?
Edit: If it matters, the subpage that I am linking already has a thumbnail.
Hi,
Fairly new to sharepoint, I have set up the site, however, I find the editing capabilities rather limiting. I would like to change the way "people" are displayed on my sharepoint site. I have added the people and the only way I can see how I can do that is by typing in their emails, the people listing populates, however, some are listed with names and some are only listed with their emails. I assumed it was because they were listed that way some place I had no access to? Is that correct? Is there a way I an change this or override this. I need the names to all be displayed the same way , First name, last name or Last name, first name. Also, I can select the "people" and get info on email address and other info, however it doesn't seem like others can do that? How do I fix that?
