I am mid season nine. I think it’s sad that nobody really takes an interest in Liam. Like how the hell are they okay with leaving him with Frank. When he got kicked out of the school I honestly thought Fiona wasn’t going to ask about it. And then when that trashy chick said she was pregnant. No one ever talked to him about what happened?! Poor kid kinda just fends for himself.

I mean, these are the choices.

We have, An addict who was so self righteous and far up his own ass I was worried he would shoot heroin in there.

A band member who’s whole personality was based off a bad romantic novel written by a teenager with down syndrome, because all he does is sing, sing, and sing some fucking more while getting married and giving his grandma’s ring to someone he barely knows.

A glorified carpenter who is so bland that i had to invade India again to stuff my face with spices so i could feel anything but indifference for this discount Jason Statham from Temu. A ford raptors exhaust pipe has more personality.

Then we get the only reasonable choice, A cup salesman with a brother so bad, porn movie scripts will start making sense. What the fuck was that metro scene anyways? If you remove the brother, how frank removed his responsibilities towards his kids, I will bet you Debbie’s baby that he will still run because he “hate lies” and this ain’t that kinda soap opera. Once he gets close enough to the Gallaghers. It’s game over.

Then we come to our boi, the man, the myth, the fugitive.

If you put aside being a lying bastard who disappears multiple times, is always knee deep in some bullshit with cops, narco terrorists or being married to multiple random women. He was the only one who could take on the dumpster fire we call the Gallaghers, who we have come to love. Except Debbie, Debbie can eat shit.

The guy has a decent physique but let’s be honest he looks like a rat. His acting is incredibly one note and wooden, it’s not like he has this magnetic charm or charisma to sell him as this world class womanizer who is seemingly drowning in pussy. There are undoubtedly millions of actors better suited to play such a role, but they chose this nebbishy curly headed rodent with creepy Gollum eyes.

I’m currently re-watching Shameless and I’m at the part where Fiona becomes manager at Patsy‘s and Lip is at the unpaid internship and he was such a hater. Lip couldn’t stand the idea of Fiona being more successful than him because he had a superiority complex and thought he was better than her. He constantly put down each of her ideas or accomplishments. Like when she came home with that FAT check from selling the laundromat and he said nothing. I like Lip but it’s not Fiona’s fault you blew your chance at college.

Like I have rewatched this show more times than I care to admit, but every scene with her in it hurts my heart sm knowing this is what’s coming. As someone who sees first hand what dementia does to your loved ones makes it so much worse

I love that he was looking at bridal magazines picking out flowers and chairs. Not to mention wanting Franny to be the flower girl. Never would of thought that from season one mickey.

I might be in the minority here but I didn't like Ford. He just wasn't a very interesting character. He was really arrogant too. I mean, I think he was more of a narcissist than Lip and that's saying a lot.

After bawling my eyes out as a grown ass dude ive looked at Ettas situation with a different perspective. I used to look at Ettas scenes with a sorrow, as ive always had a soft spot for older people. Seeing her slowly have her dementia get the best of her was heartbreaking, and hearing her constantly refer to Fiona as Sandy would always get me teary eyed. However i feel like in a way, her dementia and Fionas resemblance to Sandy (and empathy) made her feel young and happy again. For example, during their dance, Etta mustve felt like she was dancing with Sandy like the old days, young and pretty, having bonding time with her sister, not a care in the world without any issues, and thats what broke me so bad. All Etta wanted was to have more time with her sister and husband, hence she has such happy memories of the two, constantly remembering the two and dancing/bonding with “them”. Im glad she was able to have extra time with her “sister”, regardless of it being Fiona or not. Seeing Fiona putting her in a seniors home was soulcrushing, but ive grown to imagine it as “Sandy” doing one last good thing for her. I still feel horrible as Etta was so confused and had no idea where her sister was going, but i look at Fiona and Ettas relationship with such a bittersweet point of view. I really hope she’s still alive and doing well.

plus, i see Ettas obsession with dancing as a way to resemble the purity and freshness/traditionality of the relationships between her and her husband/sister.

I loooove this relationship😂 they are so funny together. Peggy is probably my favorite character in the whole show

Like it's actually pissing me off. Maybe I'm just stupid?? But I genuinely don't understand how she's in the wrong for trying to make sure he gets the minimum sentence. The annoying Irish guy was pissed at her for trying to get him bail too, like that's her mentally ill little brother that she raised. Why does everyone expect and WANT her to let him rot in jail when they have the ability to help him

Karen Maguire as she’s called in the UK version is one of the most popular characters, which is weird to think about considering she’s one of the Americans versions most hated. The US writers completely butchered Karen’s character after making her rape frank. In the UK version, Karen and Frank have a full blown affair and have sex multiple times. The US writers clearly wanted to include this story of the affair, but didn’t want Frank to lose all likeablity so it turns into this grey area where Frank wants to sleep with her, confesses to fantasising about her, says he liked it after, but was also yelling no while Karen was on-top of him so nobody could say he raped her. The only thing stopping Frank from sleeping with Karen was it was illegal - and she was seeing lip, it wasn’t because he wasn’t attracted to her, he clearly wanted to. There’s a deleted scene of Frank confessing to fantasising about Karen, saying things about how her armpits will be smooth because she’s young and doesn’t need to shave, calling her a “tender age”. Again, they obviously didn’t include this because this would make Frank completely unlikeable to most viewers. Although it was in the UK version, the UK in 2004 is different to US in 2011. I understand not wanting to include a storyline of a grown man taking advantage of a teenage girl but why include it at all and throw Karen’s character under the bus in the process? Especially because their affair in the UK version is way more common and is actually realistic, the way the US writers did it seemed like a weird fantasy of making the teenage girl the perpetrator and the grown man the victim, which again is just unrealistic.

Karen also has bipolar disorder in the UK version, not Ian, which helps explains her hyper sexuality and gives her more depth. She’s also the only original character in the UK version to be in all of the seasons. The US writers really missed an opportunity of making an amazing character.

i watched shameless for the first time i believe around 5 years ago, and of course i noticed the switch of mandy’s actress. i was shocked to see the amount of hate the new actress got and how much people missed the original mandy. i think both actresses did a wonderful portrayal of mandy but i didn’t really miss the first actress as much as other viewers did. i think the second actress for mandy actually brought a lot too her character and added a lot of depth to her. she developed into this badass that eventually doesn’t really amount to anything despite wanting to help everyone else out (ex: lip). her story is tragic and i think the second actress showed this so well. am i the only one that thinks this?

I forgot how dark Eddie Jackson’s story line is. Bloody hell. Driven insane by his house ridden wife with mental health issues (and the pegging 😂😭😭) a daughter that doesn’t respect him and sleeps around. Shits gotta be the most depressing story arc in a comedy ever. Shit is absolutely wild

I honestly think that Sheila and Frank were really good together. Yes, Frank was very ignorant and brished her off, but in season 5 episode 2 "I am the Liver" I really think it shows their relationship for as raw and real as it is. Sort of helps for their shared hatred for Sammi haha.

Context: They had created a scene where JimmySteve's head is decapitated and Estefania's dads crew used it to play a game.

I genuinely think that I would've found that ending so morbid for someone who was such an important character throughout the first few seasons. I probably would've not watched the series as many times as I have had that happen - in all honesty. I can't say he was my favourite character though.
