made this on paper with crayola watercolor and scar wax
I have only played with smaller cuts using wax so far so this was very out of my comfort zone. It's so hard to get such a big area of wax smooth. I used the spatula reapplying oil to it regularly but that stuff is always shockingly sticky, especially after warming it up enough to be malleable. I'm still pretty happy with how it turned out!
Hey, first timer here. Want to try recreating the Terrifier look using liquid latex, cotton balls and some scar wax. Now I’m wondering, is it possible to re-use all created shapes at a later stage? Ideally use these as mold / turn into a mask.
One idea is to create the shapes, apply vaseline over the scar wax, and build a layer of liquid latex over this that can be peeled off and reusable (and carefully peel off the other liquid latex parts).
How do you go about this? Thx!
Hey guys! I am currently working on a production of Shrek the Musical and the production team is wanting a cowl like the professional production for our Shrek. Is there any companies anyone knows of that can create the cowl for us using a mold of our actor? Hes a big guy so I dont think a premade cowl will work unfortunately.
Thanks for any help!
Has anyone got any tips on how to make coagulated blood a little runnier? I got some for tonight's Halloween party but it's very thick - is there a way I can add water to it or similar to thin it a bit so I have varying consistencies of blood?
Hi there!
I’m trying to learn how to color match and such. I’m trying to practice on my leg (so I have two hands to work with) HOWEVER…I used to cut my legs & hide it with jeans for years. I literally do not think my legs know how to produce melanin anymore. It’s just a weird tone & im having a lot of difficulty color matching. Any advice??? Thanks!!
I'm torn between which one to get as I must apply a white beard and mustache to my skin for the holiday season. I know tugging and sweating are possible, so I need something strong. I've seen Mastix P recommended for this. However, I do have sensitive skin, so I have heard Prosaide is good in that department (whether to get Original, II, or the Cream is beyond me).
Last year, I used Ben Nye adhesive, but I found it to be hit or miss when it came to staying in place. There were times I had to do a quick fix and ended up getting stuck to my beard or mustache pieces, or there was hair flying everywhere.
I would appreciate any thoughts on Mastix P, Prosaide, or alternative recommendations.
Thank You!
Very much a beginner but tried some SFX stuff for vampire Halloween costume
How did I do?
As title suggests, how important is a bachelor's or such. Coming from VFX, a lot of stupid HR departments still value a degree even if it's not in the same field.
Would it be better to go for some kind of self paced learning? How did you go about it.
no matter what I do my pictures aren't uploading and if you had the misfortune of seeing my empty post spam I apologize. tried doing screenshots and cropping them to lessen the file size but nothing worked so now I'm just rly mad lol.
Wanted to represent a really bad hangover, what do you think?
I'm staging a play where someone needs to be stabbed in the back, and there has to be blood.
We're using a retractable knife for safety, this is nonnegotiable. So what I'm asking really is: What material should my squib be made out of to pop under PRESSURE, not PUNCTURE?
I've heard that condoms work well for gunshots, but would the same hold true for stab wounds? I was thinking either condoms or make a baggie with saran wrap to tape to the actor. I can't use a sandwich bag since I've found they're too durable. Thanks a ton!
I spent a couple of evenings practicing for a Halloween costume party I attended. This was my first attempt using scar wax, liquid latex and makeup. I sculpted the scars, sealed it all with liquid latex, then added a bit of makeup... I found the biggest challenge to be getting the edges of the latex smooth. Thoughts?
