This is a place to talk about serial killers in history, in the news or works of fiction.

Is this the entire confession of Jeffrey Dahmer or does it have multiple parts
If people can write to serial killers/mass murderers, whats to say no one will try to be an edgelord and send them stuff just to mess with them? For example, what if someone decided to send Ed kemper a 'happy mothers day' greeting card?
I don't exactly know what it was, but in Lionel dahmers book, it is briefly mentioned that Jeff got some distasteful mail sent to him, joking about both his crimes and his victims, poking fun at him.
I wonder if any other high profile criminal has recieved mail like that too. I guess some people have a morbid sense of humour.
What would be the protocol for an issue like that? Ban them from getting mail or something?
An in universe newspaper article reads:
"The serial killer who has been beheading joggers and other people foolish enough to go out late at night on their own has struck again. This time, it's the same old story. A young victim found in a sports bag. No head. And cops left rubbing theirs, as they wonder what to call him"
And if that wasn't very clear, The wiki elaborates on what they meant, Saying:
"Throughout the game, Weazel News and various Internet websites report a mysterious, nameless serial killer who has been attacking, touching, murdering, raping and mutilating the bodies of people in Liberty City, leaving the police without clues as they instead focus their efforts on making a nickname for him"
It's very funny. The guy leaves the bodies in the open and makes no attempt to cover after himself... And yet he still wasn't caught, Because everyone is focusing more on giving him a cool nickname first than properly investigating who's their killer and where he is.
Hi, I am in college and I need to write an essay around 5-7 pages worth of material about serial killers and I went with Jeffrey Dahmer since his name always comes up for serial killers. However, I am very lost on what documentaries to choose, I am looking for a Dahmer documentary that would help give me around a few pages worth of what his crimes were, what his background was, and how he was caught, things like that. Is anyone able to help? I am open to periodicals also
I'm just curious. Do all serial killers have signatures? For example, Robert Ben Rhoades would shave the pubic hair of his victims. Does every serial killer have some sort thing they do consistently between their victims? If they don't and they are random, would that be considered a signature in itself?
Do Prisons Profit from High profile inmates? Do inmates get special privileges? How did the journalist who interviewed Aileen Wornos establish a connection with her?
Podcasts
Hi, I know there are lots of posts about serial killer podcasts but have you any good recommendations of podcasts were it’s just one guy who’s not overly dramatic or has his friends onboard were they are all chatting and joking and not taking the podcast seriously?
Everyone has different tastes, I know these are popular because a lot of you guys listen to them and that’s why they have good ratings. However, there’s only a couple that I like to listen to that I find interesting while walking my dog. The better the podcast, the longer I walk my dog.
Praying that soon someone will create a Serial Killer podcast with Robert Stacks voice as the host. That would be awesome. Using AI I believe this will be very possible, very soon (even if I have to make it myself.)
I’ll give you an idea of what I recommend. I liked every podcast I listened to about the Golden State Killer (EARONS). His story is so interesting it would be difficult to do a bad podcast on it.
I find the older episodes of casefile very good especially the one on the Moors Murders. Warning: This one is not for anyone sensitive. I have listened to many podcasts and read about lots of killers but this podcast really upset me.
Another great podcast (probably my favorite) was The Wests tapes by Howard Sounes. Again this was a very upsetting series but very interesting.
I’m looking forward to other podcasts like above. Casefile is very hit and miss for me but can anyone recommend any good episodes/series of Casefile or anything similar?
Not really into Zodiac at all. My opinion is there’s not much of a story there, just some averagely intelligent psycho with a low body count who wanted to use his communication with the media/cops to his advantage if LE were ever getting too close.
I suspect it was taken down now because i can't find it, but I can't wrap my head around how the prison system even allowed that to happen.
He even posted a picture of himself with his mum at one point during a prison visit, and put a santa hat filter on his profile picture for Xmas.
I noticed that a lot of these legendary serial killers like Dahmer, Bundy, Manson, Gein, etc had dealt with a form of abuse as a child. They were also part of the generation where men had to stfu if they had any sort of emotion or mental issues. Holding all of that back, eventually makes anyone snap, it leads to addictions to cope, then eventually drives people insane. I sometimes wonder if a lot of these well known killers would've still done what they did if they're generation wasnt frowned upon for a mental disorder or emotions. Would being able to seek help or vent or expresses any sort of struggle helped prevent some of their actions?
I have 5 familial connections to famous American Serial Killers/Mass Killers
My fiancés mom was working at the old Witchita Library when “BTK” Dennis Raider was dropping off all his clues there. She told me that everyone was on edge badly and it also pissed off many librarians cause his stunts caused them to be away from important work.
My fiancés grandma, the mom of the BTK Librarian lived in Lincoln Nebraska and personally knew both Fugate and Starkweather. Her grandma passed a few years ago and her mom has told me she wished she wrote down what she remembered of Starkweather and Fugate. Apparently Starkweather was pretty much described accurately by Springsteen.
My mom’s ex boyfriend Brian who she dated in college in the 70’s, not the serial killer but his Dad was the abusive male lover of Capote who wrote In Cold Blood which was one of the most famous familicides in American history. I got caught by a teacher in 8th grade reading the book and thought I’d get in trouble, nope. She knew what it was all about and encouraged my love of true crime!
A cousin who I’ve never met was pretty much best friends with the Columbine Shooters and his dad was the lead FBI investigator. I stumbled upon that info accidentally when my last name popped up in the article. It’s not common at all so anyone with it likely a cousin. Asked my dad about it and he confirmed it saying “Your grandpa called him when he saw the name.” Also all those conspiracies about my cousin are BS.
A cousin on my mom’s side has a longtime girlfriend. Her girlfriend and I are both true crime nerds and she just told me a little known fact about Bundy’s attack at the Chi Omega house. He got around so fast and easy not cause he was quiet or sneaky. He got around cause it was laundry night and the bedroom doors were open, I asked how she knew that cause I assumed he just broke in. Turns out she knows several of the girls who were there that night.
Is there anyone still alive to talk about their experience of their life being impacted forever from the above crime? Not seen any footage of families/jurors/detectives/potential victims, years later talking about this.
I've seen the famous black and white picture.
But on the others pictures from his arrestation they looks perfectly normal.
Why ?
(I Hope this is the good one because I've been deleted from two others subs)
Out of all the things I read about him, I've never seen someone explain how he ended up on a tv show? There is only one short clip of it on youtube too.
Are there any incidents of serial killing that involves music or musical instruments in some ways ? Suggest me about such cases please if you know .
Does anyone have any recommendations for books about cannibal serial killers? I already have My Friend Dahmer and several books with chapters dedicated to lesser known cannibals.
I already have The Eat the Evidence Trilogy on my list, but any other recommendations would be great!!
Hey everyone. I just finished watching the Zodiac and To Catch a Killer films. Before that I watched the ones on Netflix like Dahmer and Extremely Wicked…, Ted Bundy movie. I was wondering if you guys could recommend any films or series that are a similar style that informs? I have seen documentaries before but I like those film/series style over documentaries, just my cup of tea, sorry. Thanks in Advance.

Have you every encountered a serial killer by chance? When I was about 13 my dad lived in the US and was receiving treatment at mayo clinic. And i had a self soothing habit where I suck/chew on my thumb. Of course now I realise it looks wrong. Me and my mom were waiting outside a best buy for my brother. And this guy would not stop hovering around he would not stop looking and he wouldn't go away! Thank God my mom was there. Years later I got into true crime. And I see an interview on YouTube. Lo and behold. This little germ of a man.
