I am looking forward to (not confirmed yet) spending around 5-6 months in Malaysia for my student exchange program. it will be in UPM (Universiti Putra Malaysia). Though Im really excited but there are a few concerns as I have never travelled alone.
Firstly, any kind of general advice is appreciated! I know very little about traveling alone and living in malaysia.
Some specific things that are in my mind rn are:
Food (i can cook so i need to know average costs for 1 person, and what options do I have and what to expect, what to avoid, what to go for etc, everything should be halal though)
Travel (recently saw a post about someone complaining about bus/train system, so need a bit more insight on it and maybe some tips and tricks, average prices of travel etc)
Accommodation (are hotels a good option? renting a place out? should be economical and any tips on finding a good place, what to look for when getting a place, average rent etc) ( I also found some rentals online, some had electricity bill included some didnt so wanted to know how much of a difference does it make?)
Language + weather + general safety related stuff (things to avoid)
Must visit/ or things I should try
going out at night, how long can i stay outside before it gets unsafe etc
apart from these any advice you have to give is highly appreciated! Thanks in advance!
Hi.
I'm moving back from Glasgow to my parent's house in Cheras, and will start a new job in Shah Alam. I'm looking for a recommendation for a decent motorcycle store that can get me a new bike ASAP to help me start my job in January.
Any recommendations?
Hey everyone, I’m 26 and from London and I’m looking to play football more regularly. Does anyone have any suggestions of casual/semi-casual football groups or teams active in PJ?
Im living in a shop lot apartment and random people are placing cones to 'chup/reserve' the available parking space. Meanwhile the apartment residents are in finding trouble to park the cars. What can we do about it ? Can the goverment place a banner or something, mentioning that the parking space is for the shop lot apartment residents ?
Hi everyone, I am looking to apply for jobs in higher education as an expat. If successful, I would be moving from Aus with my husband and two sons. I've read some of the other threads about cost of living, but I'm wondering what the preferred option would be for buying a car?
Is it worth it to buy one? Where I currently live we have to have two cars for our lifestyle but I'm not sure if it would be different over there. The public transport seems to be better, but I would still need to pick children up from school etc. We also love to explore and I wouldn't want to move to a new country and not spend time getting to know it.
If a car is recommended, how would we go about purchasing one? Are there any tips we should know first? The idea of doing so in a foreign country is a bit daunting.
Thank you so much for your help!
