If I could move anywhere where would I want to go if my main objective were to be able to buy the cheapest crab/seafood?
I’ve seen posts of people who say that they can find Dungeness crab for $5 a lb. Snow crab for less than $10 a lb.
Where are these places? Anywhere in the world!
When I cook frozen shrimp or langoustibe from Costco, they taste like soap and don’t taste good. Some other frozen crustaceans I’ve tried don’t have that issue. I tried to thaw completely and rinse them with water before cooking, but they still taste like soap or bleach. What could be causing this and how can I fix it? I wonder if it’s some chemical they put in there.
They are plain, raw, and peeled with no seasoning or spices. I don’t add cilantro.
You know why. Ok maybe you don't. I'm just really self conscious. My dad LOVED getting crab legs and lobster tail when he could splurge for it, but to this day I cannot crack open a shell for the life of me. And here we are, many years later and I travel for work and the local delicacy is all about crab legs and lobster tail.
And I'm really self conscious about going to a restaurant (by myself btw, as I'm a solo traveler) and sitting there probably upwards of an hour just trying my best to struggle through a shell.
Now, if they did that sort of butterfly thing with the lobster where all the meat's already out, I'm all in, but unfortunately that's rare around these parts. Also I'm avoiding the fried variety right now.
Halp me plz.
Hello, A question for people maybe working in restaurant near the sea.
I went to a restaurant with a friend who ordered "moule frite". She found two mussels which were full of sludge and a rock. When asking about it the manager said the cooks couldn't possibly check all the mussels because they are received and cooked in batch and the rock looked like a mussel because it was black so... My friend was worried about being sick because sludge would have mixed with the sauce but the manager was very patronizing about it so we gave up speaking with him.
Is that something that happen that often? Neither me or my friend ever experienced it before.
Last crawfish boil before I moved. My crawfish dealer hooked me up.
As title states. Looking for insight if this is ok to eat or not! Thanks for any feedback
My favorite type of crab!
Hope we have another bumper crop this year

I got some shake boil from a restaurant. I am unfamiliar with clams as I've only had them once or twice before in my life. I put the left overs in the fridge overnight and just warmed up some for a snack.
One of the clams was still closed. I opened it - relatively easily with my finger nails and the fluid inside was still cold from the fridge. It looked sort of different than the other clams but I'm not 100% sure as I don't normally eat them. I decided against eating the leftovers but without thinking I licked my fingers where some of the juice had gotten on them.
It does have an off smell to it, Is there a good chance of food poisoning? Anything I can do to prevent a bad reaction? Or just wait and see...
