Scouts over the world, is the peacelight a thing in your country?

Tyi the orf peacelight is a austrian thing. There is one kid, who enlightens a candle in Bethlehem and this candlelight spreads over the globe (or at least over europe).

How much do you pay for being an scout in your country? (Research)

In Brazil we need to pay R$140,00 a year for the UEB (União dos Escoteiros do Brasil), which is 10% of the monthly minimum wage.

British Meat Badge

I've just been doing the pre - Christmas badge awarding, and picked up the new chef badges. Now half of the picture on the badge is a British Meat sponsorship advert, and the chef picture is tiny. Apart from our scouts now starting to be walking about more sponsored than an F1 drivers, surely someone in National Scouts, thought about the issue with vegetarians and people who can not eat for religious reasons, not really wanting to walk about with an advert on their arm for killing and eating animals.

Scouty Gifts

Hi, my partner is big into scouts, done kings scout, the whole 9 years. I however missed out as a kid so I don't know much about it. With Christmas season coming up I was wondering what kind of gifts are good for a scout?

Is there much local pride where a specific district theme would be good or with the global reach should it be something more broad?

How Do I Stay in Scouting

Hi, I'm a Scout From Ireland and Right now I'm struggling to stay scouting and it's not due to lack of availability for scouting time. I'm a full time college student and Part time employed and as of late I'm really starting to feel burnt out.

My Enjoyment used to be going to camps and meeting new people but ever since becoming in the governance pf the organisation I've been feeling isolated and stuck not making much progression.

It doesn't help that to people outside the organisation see scouts as the usual stereotype and the historical abuse cases.

Should i Quit and try picking up a new hobby and try to make something new of myself?

I think there should be a rule for people to join scouts, they must be able to hold the scout sign properly. Most people are unable to even touch their pinky with their thumb and shaking. Even if you did your best, you made your group a failure. What's your opinion?

Is it worth it?

So I'm 15 years old and currently have 3 main hobby's and a job working in supermarket. My first hobby is drumming, my second Dungeons and Dragons an my third hobby is baseball. I always liked baseball because the group is really tight and it wasn't really that competitive compared to other sports. But now im going further and it's getting really competitive to the point the trainer yells at us if we don't win or do bad in training. Now the only thing keeping me at baseball are my friends there. Now comes the question: would It still be worth it to join the scouting and stop with baseball? I always wanted to do scouting but was never allowed to do so from my dad. Now my parents are separated and I'm allowed to do I from my mom (she was in a scouting group herself). I already know 2 people at the scouting so I think I will fit in. But I'm not sure if it's too late or not to start scouting?

Among Us: the wide game

I adapted Among Us into a wide game last year and Cubs have been harassing me ever since to play it again.

So last night I took them out in the park to play the game in the dark. It ran for the whole duration of the meeting and the Cubs were super excited.

I wrote up the game description and instructions so other leaders can use it if they want.

edit: I changed the link to my blog this way you get access to the resources :)

Happy Scouting!

UK: uniform what if.

Just a complete what if here not based in any fact and I know the new POR has dropped and we are keeping the current uniform but what if.....

So we have explorer navy blue right. Give the explorers a navy blue shirt and let the leaders have the darker brown coloured shirt :D that way I wouldn't have to worry about retucking in my shirt every time I have a bloody campfire haha

Or a complete update what about for leaders a navy blue shirt. Grey activity trousers and switch the belt from black leather to brown leather

Should I say something?

My son recently went to a Jambo and came back with a lot of badges and started swapping with his troop. Eventually he got to where he was happy with what he had left and didn't want to swap any more. There was a scout who kept begging for more badges but my son refused. Then my son's whole bag of badges disappeared. Today, another scout gave my son one of his lost badges back, saying the kid who had been begging for them before gave it to him.

I'd brought the matter of the missing badges up before and the SM freaked out at me, that I'm evil for even considering that there may have been a theft, talking about getting the Council involved and everything. But now, there's sort of proof that yeah that may have happened. Spouse says I should let it go but we'll he's my kid and I want to protect him. Should he tell his patrol leader instead?

UK: Adult First aid badge?

Question just thought id double check. someone mentioned that the adult uniform First Aid badge is only to signify those that have the 16 hour outdoor first aid, and not the 6 hour first responder level. so if your 16 expires and you only have the 6 hour redo you should take off the badge?

Looking for Simple and Low-Planning Fundraising Ideas

Hi everyone,

I’m part of a Venture company, and we’re currently looking for fundraising ideas to support our activities. The challenge is that our group struggles a bit with planning and organizing complex events, so we’re hoping to find ideas that are straightforward, effective, and don’t require too much preparation or logistics.

If you’ve had success with any easy-to-execute fundraisers or have suggestions that have worked for your group, we’d love to hear them! We’re open to creative and practical options that can help us achieve our goals without overwhelming our team.

Thanks in advance for sharing your experiences and advice!

Arrow of Light stripes

I got some wooden dowel arrows to present to my crossovers. I'm struggling with the colors of the rank stripes I need to add. I see conflicting things when searching online. Is there an official color list? I have one that has come all the way from Lion so I'm excited to stripe her's.

Where can I buy badges?

Hi,

I was a scout as a kid, and unfortunately the group I was with excluded and isolated me due to being disabled. I was left out consistently, and eventually had to leave. I was never given any support with badges or anything, despite wanting to earn them and join in.

I've started volunteering recently, and am aiming to work with accessibility within British scouting, and one thing I'm doing is tracking what I've helped work or learnt through my volunteering (in certain aspects, I'm delayed, so practical skills I'm often learning with the kids, but I'm able to help organise, facilitate etc too). Unfortunately, all of my badges were destroyed after my father spilled something (I think it was oil?) on them.

As such, I've been trying to get badges myself to make my own camp blanket. I've got a few, but I've got gaps too. I've obviously tried the scouting website, but it's restricted. I don't want to do this via my group, as I want to ensure it comes from my own money and can't be confused as being from theirs. Any help would be advised, as right now I only have ebay.

TIA

Scouts in Marrakesh

Hello,

i'm a Scout from Germany traveling to Marrakesh from the 9th of December until the 12th of December. I would like to meet up for a coffee with a local scout and talk about the scouting culture in Morocco. Maybe one of you would be up for that. :)

Greetings from Germany

Cornwell Badge UK

Does anyone know how many Cornwell scout badges have been given out in total, or the rough estimate? I’ve just found my dads Cornwell award from 1988
