Hey friends, I'm doing some research for something I'm writing and was hoping you all could chime in with all your red/green flags you look for when buying a second hand scope.
What to look for when buying reflectors vs. refractors?
Red and green flags for used mounts?
Thanks in advance.

Astro modified Canon T3i, full spectrum modification with Astrodon clear glass (additional $115 expense for the glass). Excellent sensitivity, just a great camera all around! Sample photo taken with this camera here
Comes with 3 batteries, 12v to 7.5v DC converter for field usage, AC adapter for home usage. Body cap, and I'm pretty sure I have the manual as well (though it can be downloaded if not).
Also, this camera will come complete with my library of dark frames shot at various tempuratures and exposure lengths at 800 and 1600iso. Superbias frame is also included and individual bias frames at buyers request.
Hey guys, I bought an iOptron Skytracker (+ iOptron Ball Head) a few weeks ago. I used it about four or five times. I am selling it already because I had enough money in my savings to buy a telescope and a mount.
It is in perfect condition, not a scratch, if you want to see what you can achieve with it, look at my shots: https://www.reddit.com/r/astrophotography/comments/3zucc3/my_18_targets_of_2015_without_a_telescope/
Comes with: -iOptron Skytracker -Ball Head -Finder Scope -Case
I bought it $299 + $58 (ball head) = $357.
Since it is really like new and recent, I am selling it $280. I don't know how much the shipping costs, it is pretty heavy, but just add an amount that you think is fair and I will ship it fast.
