Do you remember hearing a different, Scooby Doo theme song ?

When "Scooby Doo : Where Are You ?" used to air on Cartoon Network, the opening theme song wasn't always the "Scooby Dooby Doo" song that everybody remembers.

Instead, the show uses the episode title card music as the theme song. It's basically an extended version of it.

This VERY RARELY happened, but if you watched Scooby Doo long enough, you'd hear this song instead of the more popular one :

^ Does anybody remember this ?

Can you guys let me cook for a second?

As a response to: Describe your dream Scooby Doo show?

Name of series (or movie): Scooby-Doo Resurrections

Rating:

  • TV-14 (if a TV series, and no, it's not going to be "Velma Version 2", so you can all cool your jets)
  • PG-13 (if a film series)

Character Art Style/Designs: My Own (currently working on the model sheets, will add a link to them when finished)

Animation Style:

  • Characters are 2D animated while backgrounds and other stuff is 3D (think the old CN City bumpers or some of the Gorillaz music videos)
  • Classic style for opening credits only (if a movie)

Voice Cast (for most of Mystery Inc. at least, also it's who I see fit for the role(s)): Scooby-Doo Resurrections Casting Choices

Influences:

  • Live Action 2000's movies
  • Some of the Classic Era
  • The 13 Ghosts Era
  • A little bit of the Zombie Island Era
  • A small hint of Mystery Incorporated

Setting: Modern Day

Locations Featured:

  • Coolsville (gonna be loosely inspired by H-Town, TX)
  • Coolsonian Crimonology Museum (mentioned/teased)
  • Crystal Cove/Spooky Island (I decided to combine the two)
  • Himalayas (mentioned)
  • Riverdale (mentioned)
  • !Moonscar Island (mentioned)!<

Characters/Allies Returning (might be slightly rewritten) or mentioned:

  • !Scrappy (rewritten, mentioned repeatedly, seen in a flashback, photo of him appears in the Mystery Machine, and occasionally as a figurine a la "Five Nights at Freddy's", NOTE: I cannot confirm or deny whether or not he's going to physically return and even if he does, it is not going to be an antagonistic role...again)!<

  • Emile Mondavarious
  • Reginald "Red Herring" Harrington
  • Crystal and Amber (from Scooby-Doo and the Alien Invaders)
  • Brad Chilles (new separate character as an analog of Fred)
  • Judy Reeves (new separate character as an analog of Daphne)
  • Ricky Owens (new separate character as an analog of Shaggy)
  • Marcie "Hot Dog Water" Fleach (somewhat new separate character as an analog of Velma)
  • Norman (original character very, very, very, VERY loosely inspired by Sam Richardson's version of Norville "Shaggy" Rogers, Crystal's boyfriend)
  • Louie Messick (inspired by the Voodoo Maestro from the 2002 movie, NOTE: This version actually HATES his job as the local Spooky Island Voodoo Maestro)
  • Mr. E (new separate character, IDENTITY: >!not saying!<)
  • Coco Diablo (mentioned/teased)
  • Patrick Wisely (mentioned/teased)
  • Sherriff Kailani "Kai" Jones (Fred's mother, Sherriff of Coolsville)
  • Mayor Pamela "Pam" Blake (Daphne's mother, Mayor of Coolsville)
  • Dr. Ken Dinkley (Velma's father, owner of Dinkley Tech and collaborator with Quest Industries)
  • Casey Rogers (Shaggy's father, owner of Kasem Records, voiced by Matthew Lillard)
  • Mayor William J. Lorde>!-Smithers!< (mayor of Crystal Cove, inspired by Mayor Fred Jones Sr., >!son of Old Man Smithers/the first Luna Ghost!<)
  • Sherriff Bronson Stone (sherriff of Crystal Cove)
  • Cassidy Williams/Angel Dynamite (role reprised by Vivica A. Fox)
  • The Hex Girls (mentioned and later appear)
  • J.J. Hakimoto (mentioned and seen in a flashback)
  • !The Reluctant Werewolf (clone of Shaggy's werewolf form from Scooby-Doo and the Reluctant Werewolf)!<

  • !Albert Shaggleford (mentioned, appears in a post credit scene)!<

Other Hanna-Barbera references/cameos:

  • Blue Falcon and Dynomutt (mentioned, appear on one of Shaggy's alternate outfits)
  • The Banana Splits (poster appears in the Mystery Machine)
  • Jabberjaw (The Neptunes mentioned, poster seen in the Mystery Machine)
  • Captain Caveman (the Teen Angels make a cameo appearance on the plane to Crystal Cove/Spooky Island)
  • The Funky Phantom (the Funky Phantom crew make a cameo appearance on the plane to Crystal Cove/Spooky Island, Auggie sits next to Daphne on the flight)
  • Hong Kong Phooey
  • Wacky Races (an arcade machine based on the series appears, Wanted Posters of Dick Dastardly and Muttley make small appearances)
  • Johnny Quest (Quest Industries mentioned)
  • Speed Buggy (Tinker listed in Shaggy's contacts, Mark and Debbie make a cameo appearance on the plane to Crystal Cove/Spooky Island)

Non Hanna-Barbera references:

  • Archie (Jughead mentioned by Shaggy, Archie and the gang listed in some of Mystery Inc.'s contacts)
  • Josie and the Pussycats (mentioned)

Veteran Cameos and/or Roles:

  • Matthew Lillard as Casey Rogers (Shaggy's father)
  • Sarah Michelle Gellar as herself (cameo inspired by Pamela Anderson's appearance in the 2002 movie)
  • Rowan Atkinson as an Island Emissary (cameo inspired by the Island Emissary and ultra loosely inspired by Simon Cowell's appearance in Scoob!, was originally meant to be Freddie Prinze Jr. but due to him being uninterested in doing another Scooby-Doo related project, I had to improvize)
  • Grey Delise-Griffin as a News Reporter (announcing Mystery Inc.'s arrival to Crystal Cove)
  • Robbie Amell as Brad Chilles
  • Kate Melton as Judy Reeves
  • Nick Palatas as Ricky Owens
  • Hayley Kiyoko as a fan of Velma
  • Frank Welker as (apart from Scooby) a bartender (designed to look like an older version of classic Fred)
  • Kate Micucci as Marcie Fleach
  • Linda Cardellini as a News Reporter (for the aftermath of the TV series/movie)

Main Antag(s):

  • Luna Ghost II/>!Mayor William J. Lorde-Smithers!< (loosely inspired by the original script from the first live action movie combined with the Masked Figure from Monsters Unleashed)
  • N'Goo Tuana
  • Spooky Island Demons

First Monster to Appear: Luna Ghost I/Old Man Smithers

Monsters Returning/Brought to life:

  • The Black Knight Ghost

  • Ghost of Dr. Coffin
  • No Face Zombie
  • Demon Shark
  • Neapolitan Phantoms
  • Pterodactyl Ghost
  • Phantom Racer
  • Skeleton Men (all 3 of them)
  • Snow Beast
  • Tar Monster
  • Old Iron Face
  • Jaguaro
  • Feline Creature
  • The Mantis
  • The Cotton Candy Glob

Original Monsters: Dober-Demon (context-wise, replacing the original villain from "Decoy for a Dognapper")

Monsters Rewritten/Mentioned/Very Loosely Referenced:

  • The Specter (from The Mystery Begins, mentioned by Fred in a flashback)
  • Frog Monsters (from Curse of the Lake Monster, mentioned)
  • The Ghost of Zen Tuo (not appearing physically but rewritten to be reincarnated as a mob boss, while still keeping the art smuggling part, mentioned)
  • The Ghost of Merlin (mentioned)
  • The Ghost of Witch McCoy (mentioned)
  • The Ghostly Gondoleer (mentioned)
  • Most (not all) of the monsters from A Pup Named Scooby-Doo, The New Scooby-Doo Movies, Scooby-Doo and Scrappy-Doo (both of them), The New Scooby and Scrappy Doo Show, The New Scooby-Doo Mysteries, Scooby-Doo meets the Boo Brothers, and Scooby-Doo and the Reluctant Werewolf
  • Weerd and Bogel (mentioned by Flim-Flam)

Monsters Just Not Appearing:

  • Dracula, Frankenstein's Monster and Wolfman (overdone)
  • Loch Ness Monster (again, overdone)

Monsters Mentioned, But Not Physically Appearing PERIOD (for good reason):

  • The Native American Witch Doctor (REASON: No, just no, mentioned)
  • The Tiki Witch Doctor (REASON: No, just no, mentioned)
  • The Gypsy (REASON: Still, no, almost mentioned)
  • The Caveman (REASON: Not risking it, not mentioned)
  • Ghost of King Katazuma (REASON: No, just no, not mentioned)
  • Mamba Wamba (REASON: No, just no, not mentioned)
  • Medicine Man Ghost and Tamuka the Ghost Bull (REASON: No, just no, not mentioned)
  • Willawaw and the Owlmen (REASON: Not risking it, not mentioned)

Other Villains: The Groovy Gang (>!as hired guns sent as an attempt to kill Mystery Inc.,!< from Venture Bros.)

  • Ted
  • Patty
  • Val
  • Sonny
  • Groovy

!Villains Teased:!<

  • !Dr. Phineas Phibes!<

  • !Professor Pericles!<

Objects Appearing (or mentioned):

  • The Daemon Ritus
  • Planispheric Disk (mentioned)
  • Chest of Demons (mentioned)

Tone: Light enough so that it retains its Scooby-Doo feel, but not dark enough that it's unrecognizable and loses its intended-audience(s)

Filming Coloration: Vibrant but not too bright where it hurts your eyes and definitely not dark enough to the point where you can't see jack)

Other Facts:

  • I've decided to age Mystery Inc. to be in their mid to late 20's, with Flim-Flam being the current youngest member (around 19, 20, 21)
  • The characters are more diverse than previous versions due to my preference for open-casting and ability over appearance (again, no, it's not going to be "Velma Version 2")
  • Despite me aging the characters, that does NOT mean I am giving the girls any skimpy, oversexualized, horny, or prostituted outfits
  • Minor references to the 2002 movies as theories (the gang splitting up, a script for an in-universe movie featuring Scrappy as the twist villain, which Fred and Velma utterly hated)
  • Other outfits from other Scooby-Doo media will appear in the TV series/movie (slightly modified versions of the movie outfits seen in posters and promo art appear in the first scene with the Luna Ghost, classic outfits appear in flashbacks and old photos)
  • There will be a running gag on people asking Fred if he's ever thought about going blond (referencing his standard design)
  • Classic designs (and other previous designs/appearances) might have cameos or may be used as an influence for certain characters
  • Live action movies might be used in certain scenes where there's a TV or some form of screen (Vincent Price might make a post-humous cameo via archived footage from some of his movies)
  • !Minor "Here Comes Peter Cottontail" and FNAF easter eggs may appear (as references to Shaggy's spirit animal/fursona animal, rabbits/bunnies)!<

Fred is underrated

I think "Velma" helped me realize how great of a character Fred is. He's awesome because he's the opposite of how he's portrayed in the Velma show. He's kind and calm with everything. A good example of this is "Homeward Hound" from "What's new Scooby Doo?" an episode I watched a few days ago where Fred just rolls with the punches. Everyone chooses to go to a dog show instead of visiting Fred's uncle, Fred doesn't want to do that but agrees anyway because he's outvoted. He also gets attacked by a dog pretending to be Scooby and Fred's just like "Yeah, your right Shaggy that isn't Scooby." He also gets an embarrassing haircut in this episode and is cool with that too. He seems like a nice guy who is a competent leader for the gang. The worst thing I can say about him is that he makes Shaggy and Scooby be the bait everytime they need to lure a guy in a costume to them, maybe he's being chivalrous by not making Velma or Daphne do it but I don't know maybe he can be the bait next time. I'm probably wrong on that one though, all in all I think Fred deserves more love. There's not much of a reason to hate this guy honestly.

Question, is Scooby genuine Great Dane or is there something else?

I’ve heard him called mangy mutt many a time, but heard bloodhound mentioned, more specifically in what I’m currently watching. New Scooby Doo Movies S1E16 “Guess Who’s Knott Coming to Dinner” and Don’s making Scooby act like a bloodhound. He’s gotta be a mix right?

A pup named scooby-doo - remaster?

Hey, so I came across some archived epsiodes of a pup named scooby doo from tubi (they deleted them from tubi a couple months ago) and I was wondering if on hbo/amazon/hulu episodes are straight from dvd or remastered as well? from what I saw, on tubi whole season 2 was remastered, and a couple of episodes from season 3 but not all (episodes number 2,3,4,6 - according to numerology from wikipedia). Someome on this sub told me that whole season 1 and remaining episodes 1 and 5 from season 3 couldnt be remastered due to some technical issues. Finally, I would like to ask you guys, if you have hulu/amazon/hbo max/bought those episodes on vudu - are those episodes remastered? especially those that I found not remastered on tubi. Thank you guys in advance, im trying to have the best expierience possible with a pup :).

Scooby Doo (2002)

I feel like I’m going crazy. I watched Scooby-Doo (2002) the live action version where they go to the island the night before halloween but I got sleepy and turned it off. Now, I’m trying to continue and I can’t find it anywhere! I have almost all of the streaming services and I’ve checked every single one of them. I could have sworn I watched it on MAX but now it’s not available in my country? Does anyone have a similar experience or any explanation?
