If they woke you up too let SFO know.
They've actually responded to me in the past so I guess noise complaints sent to the link below actually get reviewed by someone. If enough of us share our feedback, it may make a difference. I hate being woken up at 1 AM by screaming jet engines.
Hello all!
I'm a college student at UCSC, I'm coming back for the summer and want to thank my parents for working so hard to help me through my education. It's a big project but I should hopefully have just enough time over the summer break, and wanted to make them a rocking chair as a thank you since theirs is about as old as my grandparent. It could use the retirement and they could use a more comfortable piece of furniture.
I've been looking into woodworking spaces but have been having difficulty finding anywhere that's able to accommodate an independent project. I don't have any experience in this field and so don't have machines of my own (of which it seems I'd need a few), is there anywhere in the area that anyone knows of that I might be able to begin the project? I've got YouTube video tutorials and a drive to get it done, but nowhere to begin working. Any thoughts or advice on where to go/what to do would be really appreciated! Thank you and have a good one! :)
Hello,
My office is located in San mateo, walking distance from the caltrain station. I am looking for housing options around the area. Can anyone suggest which place would be better in terms of rents and convenience.
I do not have a car and willing to travel 20-30 min. I am currently considering Belmont and foster city.
Any advice would be helpful!
Does anyone know the resturant taking over where the attic use to be? And when it will open?
Hillsdale garden is charging me $120 $110 every month for trash charge , is that normal ? It looks too much , my rent goes from $2174 to $2450
Hi Everyone,
My dog Stella has been missing since last night, last seen near the corner of 9th ave. and Palm Ave. near Central Park. If you come upon a beagle with caramel spots on her legs, please DM me so we can pick her up.
Thank you in advance for your help!
Edit: We found her! Someone on Next Door brought her to the SPCA! Thank you all for your help!
Does anyone know where I can find some really pretty flower bouquets? Maybe around downtown San Mateo if possible?
We're back from a trip to Seattle and were amazed by the quality of fresh flowers at Pike Place market. I think I remember seeing some at the San Mateo farmer's market (and of course Trader Joe's always has some!) but was wondering if I'm missing out on any good places. Thanks for any recommendations!
Do you have any recommendations in the San Mateo area?
I live in San Mateo, and last week, my landlord said he's not renewing my lease and gave me a 30-day notice to vacate the property because he wants to rent to another person we both know. I have done nothing wrong as a tenant; he just prefers to lease to this other person, and he said as much. I was just starting to move when I found out that terminating tenancy without just cause isn't actually legal in California, and I'm guessing he's hoping I don't know. Not only is the eviction without basis, but it was also most likely retaliatory because it was given hours after a verbal disagreement we had.
I'm going to move out anyway because I don't want to live here anymore, but can I still sue him afterward for damages caused by his unlawful notice to quit like my moving fees? Or will it be better for my case if I pursue action now before I've vacated the premises, even though I don't want to stay? I don't want him to get away with this and just evict people because he feels like it. The first few days after the notice was extremely traumatizing and stressful before I found out it was illegal.

Looking to celebrate a birthday at a nice restaurant nearby. I normally go to Pausa but want to try something different. What do you recommend?
Hi, everyone, I stop by the Saturday Farmers Market at College of San Mateo regularly and was wondering who your favorite food vendors are. I'm looking for people who sell produce which is a cut above the usual in taste. Obviously if they are cheaper this is great but I also don't mind paying extra sometimes for the best.
Here are examples of what I mean:
- A few years ago, in Seattle, I had the sweetest, crispiest carrots I've ever had. They were short stubby carrots of the Nantes variety. I've had Nantes since but nothing like those ones.
- In Miami, we stumbled into a Latin American market where all the signs were essentially in Spanish and the cashiers mostly spoke Spanish. They had a huge display of what looked like ordinary beefsteak tomatoes for a cheap price. We bought some and were astounded to find how juicy, flavorful they were. Made the best fried eggs with tomatoes ever.
- In Beaverton, OR my friend bought me the biggest, sweetest blackberries. They were the size of golf balls almost and not one bit sour. Have never come across such since.

These types of experience make me think that not all farms are alike: it depends on the varieties they grow, the skill of the farmer, and likely the soil/ air/ weather of the farm. Often, it's the farmers who specialize. In San Mateo for example, here are some I've liked:
- Prevedelli farm for apples
- Tomatero farm for strawberries (I think they sell a different variety than the common Albion)
- Lady on the edge of CSM lot who only sells citrus

Hi! Visiting town for the weekend and wanted to see which ramen place most people would recommend.
I'm currently eyeing these 4:
Kajiken Taishoken Himawari Ramen Nagi
Hopefully can get some help with this!
Thanks in advance!!
Lived in San Mateo for about 14 years now, and I don't think I had ever seen a cockroach (insect). In the last week, I've seen a ton outside.
I go on night time walks and I've never noticed them... but I was looking for them tonight and started seeing them all over 😬
Is this normal? Or is there an uptick? Anyone else noticing this?
The new station, which could begin construction in mid-2025, will provide barracks and garage bays for additional equipment and amenities, as well as provide drinking water for students and staff at Pescadero Middle and High School.
I’m a low NTRP 4.0 player looking for some hitting partners in the area, but specifically ones that can play weekday mornings or afternoons. Is there a site to find hitting partners near SM? I’m willing to travel 15-20 min up or down the peninsula too.
Thanks in advance!
Looking to stay back in San Mateo because commute just works out somehow. Wondering what your experiences have been with some of these schools to decide on a neighborhood. Thoughts anyone?
Moving to the Bay Area and looking to take over an existing lease if anyone is interested.
My friend mentioned that she had one of the most amazing cookies recently but the bakery was in San Mateo and while you can get them mailed (we’re in Oregon), they are expensive. It’s her birthday next month and I want to surprise her with the cookies but I don’t want to ask the name and give away the surprise.
All I know is they came from somewhere in San Mateo and she had a cookie with sprinkles on it
Any ideas?
Update: We have 8 people now, min group size req is 6 and max is 30. If anyone wanna join still, they are more than welcomed to. The more players the more fun. It'd be $23/person at LaserMaxx San Carlos. Comment or DM pls, and I will reach out. thx!
The San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office has announced plans to host an anonymous gun buyback event in South San Francisco next month.
does anyone have any tips on getting an rv encampment removed in san mateo? i live in the station park green apartment complex and there's 8-10 rvs parked on the road by my building. they have unleashed pit bulls roaming around, always have cars double parked, they put up cones to reserve spots, are out there fixing their additional cars. it's getting out of hand. i've been at this spot my fourth year now and it's grown considerably. there's hardly any visitor parking and my building's lot is completely full by the end of the night because people keep letting their guests park in the lot. can i just report it to the city/county?
Does anyone know of a good place in San Mateo that has both ramen and tempura ice cream? My husband is craving both, and it would be great to surprise him with a new place when we go into downtown SM tomorrow for groceries. If there's a really good place on the peninsula, we would be willing to drive as well. Thanks for any recommendations!!
Edit: Ended up going to Himawari and Icicles afterwards. They were both super good and husband was very happy. Thanks again for all the new suggestions to try!

The fact that it closed in January 2020, just before the Pandemic makes its demise more dignified. What a special place it was for so many.
Hi! Just curious if anyone can share their recent experiences at Bayside's "lower school", especially around diversity, how teachers and admins manage kids' bad attitudes and manners, and also how they treat kids with learning disabilities & IEP's.
Also is the school really as smelly as people say, since it's next to the waste treatment plant?
We have an incoming sweet but impressionable kindergartener and curious what to expect...
Anyone have experience or knowledge about the likelihood of successfully getting an intradistrict transfer into Parkside? Since it's a magnet school does that means all students are there through the transfer system?
My family and I thinking of moving into the area and see that Bayside academy is the default district. The Parkside program looks better though.
Any help/advice is greatly appreciated.
