Bug with devotion level.. [XBOX]

I was switching over to the betrayers on NG+1 to get blood magic, I switched back over to the keepers of fire and sky, But I am devotion level 1 despite keeping all of my devotion rewards from I was in the keepers, so the NPC Vendors only sell stuff from when I was devotion level 1, This hasn’t really been a problem until now [NG+4,] Since I want guardian blade, but forgot to buy it, any help?

The next Salt game…

James posted on Twitter/X:

“The whole world map file of Salt and Sanctuary was 2.7 MB. The 8 individual map files of Salt and Sacrifice totaled 5 MB. The new game is one big file again, currently sitting at 3.7 MB.

“It's all just binary data -- singles and int32s, mostly.”

So the next game is coming!

a present

Hi! I want to make a present from some of the favourite games of my friend and that includes salt and sanctuary. I honestly have no clue what i could make/buy/write thatd be connected to it. It could be an inside joke in a community, a valuable item, a boss, a logo, anything really, e.g for another game im making a figure based on an item that a player can pick up. Any ideas would be appreciated!

Weppinnz Chat with a soon to finish NG + cycle any boss left basically. You can call me Wepwawet which is one of the many names Osiris had in old Khemet, he’s got that wennennefer one too. Sounds like a bouncy little bun bub. But your pardon, I do digress!

[edit: fixed some grammar. Still unfortunately a rant on weapon types in vague “character voice”]

I am Wepwawet and want to chat about the weapons and blades and stabby shoots smash and all kinds of sauce. The game clearly gave us complex and enthralling systems but I followed the two rules in the curmudgeon training book 1) Pick you markiplier damage stat fella : strength or Dex or either of the woo woos RULE 2/ although there are many possibilities for hybrid types this is sagrilegious. Big funny big scissor sword make funny big number damage. When boss strong on slice give strike with bonk: axe or hammer. All use STR, all make big hit.

Nexty dexty: despite the oft repeated myth of the strong good man with the good guy gun; guns can’t shoot with strength but need dexterity. You heard them city fellars squeezing the likes of “Sable Pitch Rag” and other favorites from the pump-organs? No doubt playin it so pretty means them fingers are all ready for quick daggers, bows, crossbows and flintlocks as well as a few other things I don’t doubt. Lots of fancy footwork fighting and cute flips in the sky and all that. That’s DeX for you, if weapon scales you close the sales. End of story.

That brings us to the woo woos - now I’m kinda scared of afraid: witches, monks, priests and all manner of holy or infernal demonologists. The Holy Boys call it wisdom and that sits right by me. Man does nothing but sit around getting wiser year after year it stands to reason that Most Holy might bend an occasional ear to such talk and if the table’s topic is efficient abridgment of certain human folks these could be seen as “due” for divine intervention and HE being wisest of all why wouldn’t HE intervene? It’s a sad specimens of the human creature what thinks them smarter than God Hisself but any way I’m quite done discussing that unpleasantness.

The magic fellows just calls it magic because what else would you? Not to mention I’ve seen magic rocks and trees and lakes and such so it strikes me a body don’t need to be that smart to learn the stuff. These fellows are real masters of hiding in the bushes and unloading all manner of fire and lightning on them that ainst’s sawed em yet which is not too bad as strategos go. All this casting (and focus) makes em tired so they sleep a lot too.

That’s pretty much it: sleep All you can, find a good hiding spot and blast whoever pissed you off from the surface of the planet. Not a bad deal all things considered though I do wonder if they get handed into a sweaty demon sex dungeon on the day of reckoning or such but BEGONE IMPURE THOUGHT! Not a bad shake all things considered is it?

So the one other thing about magic that sets it apart is the balance thing. If you throw fire all day with nary A spark of lightning or vice versa go big spark but no singe at all it puts nature out of balance some. The way I’ve heard the Matter efforts to restore balance generally find themselves being enacted on the caster’s delicate human flesh which WOULD make for a grim display if not for the Ring designed for this exact purpose that every fresh faced wizard grabs out the door from wizard school And effectively puts the whole problem to bed.

Burn and shock away boys! If the ring’s on a finger yer lives will long linger but if the ring weren’t equipped yet lifeline’s been clipped! Easy to remember that one boyos! Huzzah! huzzah!

This brings me Wepwawet to the question of mixy-tricksy? Sounds cool in theory but if you were like me bulking up for big Cloud FF7 swords and Sweeney Todd scissors there wasn’t much time for Dex, Wisdom or Magic shenanigans. It always looked cool at the alchemist but between buying pages, getting renewing fire and lightning buffs for turning in gross monster bits to some cult leader it all never felt worth the salt investment. I played with a few axe types for fun but kept things simple and played to my strengths.

I had a stone for fire and a stone for lightning that refreshed at any sanctuary of the Three so slapping these on before boss fights made sure I’d get ‘em before that 60 second buff ran out. If not the first time usually one or two after. That was magic as far as a roid head like me could grasp it. That is until I found the axe.

I may have downplayed the amount of gear found in this game that scales with two or even three damage stats. Holy pickpocket with a pair of cutthroat daggers? They’ve got you. Burning whip that scales with strength, dexterity and MAGIC? It’s here. Mostly I ignored it. I’d been religiously dumping every gain into strength except for a few occasional crumbs for my stamina and carry weights and felt things were far too late to slip Magic or wisdom on the board.

But then I killed one magic axe to find another, the Aster Monolith: a type three axe imbued with lightning damage: scales with strength and magic. I’d seen it on the alchemist’s transmutation menu but couldn’t justify the vaguely rare (or not rare at all by now) gear I’d transmute it with. But here it was free! Who doesn’t use a FREE AXE?

[that was entirely rhetorical, please don’t give real reasons or rational arguments against just using magic artifacts conveniently left laid out in an enemy fortress]

It said I could swing type 3 axes and that’s what it was so in the sanctuary I went to swing away from sensitive NPC eyes and ears and I totally WHIFFED! Have you ever been on a little league league team and as a joke somebody’s dad picks up a bat like he’s swinging for the bleachers but at that exact moment of forward momentum and “follow through” they just drop it?

That’s exactly what happened. Maybe the coach or older brother is making a cruel joke about the vast chasm separating their own skills from those of the hopeless weenies they’ve been hired to teach and train. Nonetheless I’m an experienced lvl 3 Axe-Man and still I whiffed AGAIN and AGAIN and AGAIN. I even found some super weak enemies to drop the axe on top of in case it does some tiny damage. It does not.

Most of you no doubt already know what I would soon learn. “ITS THE MAGIC STUPID!”. I had to raise my magic stat to where I could cast lvl 1 spells and now I can really swing that bitch. Sparks all around and everything. It’s MUCH weaker than my level VI Jaws of Death or level VI Warhammer with the 60 second Imperial Shockstone on there but this one is ALWAYS sparky and that’s gotta say something!

I think I can even get a wand and cast simple spells now but I somehow don’t have one and nobody seems to be selling. You know what keeps me going? The idea that if this whole princess thing is real and a wedding DOES happen I can ditch sparky in the gift pile - either as a disinterested guest or as part of a dowry if I end up really mixed up in this marriage thing. Either of those should work and good luck to the brat eventually inheriting it.

Of course I could take this situation as a sign that I must collect all the arcane knowledge I possibly can, even traveling to the ends of the earth if said quest demands it. It’s not like there are endless fables and cautionary tales about just such a quest ending in spiritual, financial and corporeal ruin. Such occult knowledge, while amusing from a picaresque perspective, would be hidden under lock and key in the types of archives and monasteries that my career as an adventurer will leave me in wide berth of and if I can’t see it it can’t hurt me! Right? Right? Sweet God why on your sweet green earth did I pick up this g@dd@mn axe?!?

I’d been having fun in Hager’s Cavern but I figured maybe I should clear Red Cage Town for some reason…

I can’t remember how I crawled into Hager’s except that I’d just killed The Third Lamb and was going a little heavy exploratoroarily wise or however you say it. I got my blue bricks and was really ready for standing on and maybe jumping side to side on some. The bell noise is cute.

I wound up all kinds of places - creepy ziggurats and bits of bandit Beachy stuff and even a boat that took me to this cool island I was kind of scared to explore for some reason. Somewhere in the middle of all that I found myself in Hager’s Cavern and clapped my eyes on my first scissor mummy mommy. Luckily there was a Sanctuary nearby so I could kill it a million times until I got cool bandages for Jaws of Death! Snip! Snip! Snip!

I even fell into the Hager’s boss room somehow after playing with gravity flips and stuff but I underestimated whatever that thing was. I figured if I tossed my covenant Lightning and Fire Buffs on my big Fiskars I could just snip away while ignoring the boss’s offensive moves. It almost worked. It looked like the first three snips took like 75% of his health but then gosh darn it he did stuff! Didn’t exactly notice what that stuff was except for how it killed me and I wasted too much stamina to life up.

Anyway I figured I should probably probably go finish red torture jail for no doubt important and worthwhile reasons I would learn soon. The enemies weren’t too much trouble (except when huge mobs of half invisible xenomorphs ganked me or those hanging guys made me start throwing potatoes). Mostly it was a big Sen’s Fortress style tricky jokester maze to get through - roll under those squish you things, dodge fire jets, ride wheels of fortune and that kind of stuff. The big gravity puzzle bit toward the end where you have to wall jump to go downward got me twice. Snagged the ring up top ok but fell to my death trying to wall jump back down then came back and pulled a Nathan Fielder in The Curse when I accidentally floated upward to a crushing death courtesy of my brand.

All of this was a couple stairwells away from the candle room and boss so with looting/exploration done it was time to finish things off. Tree of Men was actually not that much of a problem. I got kicked to my death on my first try but the second one went ok and with the fire jets only giving chip damage courtesy of the Smith’s set it went down easy. I was excited to cross the room for my new NPC, brand, key, treasure, lore…. Pretty much anything would have been cool.

Walking into the area I’d just been exploring/farming was not the payoff I’d been expecting. I’d even walked into Red Hall this way a couple of times before but instead of crossing one room to realize I was already at the boss I always turned right around back to Hager’s. For some reason I thought quick travel to the main sanctuary would be a better strategy than the finish line I had no idea I was standing on.

Hey I’m a nature guy anyway. I LIKE trees! Men not so much but the point is I COUKD HAVE spared it. Too late now/. On to whatever’s next I guess.

Why is this game so expensive to buy online?

It’s not even that old yet. I tried the sequel and I like it so far but I’ve heard this one’s better. I don’t see an option to buy it from the PlayStation store on my ps4, but I can buy it from the PlayStation store as a digital copy from the website. What’s with this game? I just wanna play it. Like right now lol

Advice Request

I’ve never played any Souls-like games. Maybe Hollow Knight or Blasphemous is the closest I’ve got. I’m having fun with Salt & Sanctuary. But something isn’t clicking. All the RPG numbers and constant influx of new items can be a lot to wrap my head around. So I’ve really only focused on what makes sense to me. Which is a Knight melee build. Maybe I can get some advice on where to focus the next part of my play through? I don’t mind spoilers.

  • Level: 50 Knight
  • Creed: The Three
  • Strength: 26
  • Endurance: 18
  • Dexterity: 14
  • Willpower: 16
  • Magic: 6
  • Wisdom: 5
  • Last boss beat: Kraekan Wyrm
  • Location: Red Hall of Cages
  • Weapons: Kureimoa 5 and Battle Axe 4

There is a lot I’m not really understanding about the game. Transmutation? Two hand vs one hand sword? I haven’t switched Creeds and I’m not sure why I would? No idea what devotion is?

I keep my armor/weight under 50% of my capacity. To not slow my roll. But I’m far more effective with my shield.

What should I focus on? I’m usually a Metroidvania player and I haven’t done a lot of back tracking or hunting for hidden walls. Aside from an early game grind spot. I’ve just been following the path in front of me.

I’m a Knight with the Cloud looking sword, first playthrough.

Been playing mostly blind though I do peek if it takes me forever to find a sanctuary. Anyway I’m in the upside down dome about to fight bird lamb weirdo. I have like 30 strength, 12 or 13 of the stamina and equip load stat and I’ve never touched magic or wisdom. I think I can take him just gotta get better at dodging lightning.

My question is it too late to really diversify my character? Every weapon transmog (haven’t found the scissor ghost bit) either goes to Dex or mixed scaling of some kind. I like the idea of tossing in some magic or prayers but don’t really get how much investment that entails. One level won’t let me, is it three? five? More than that? As much as I wanna tweak my character should I just resign to being Cloud and swinging big number swords until NG+? I got a Halberd and Battle Axe but all seem weak against my big sword. I spent the point for whips but all seem bad for strength guys. Should I start over as a Dex, Magic or mixed dude?

Not really sure where to go from here.

What is the build version for Nintendo Switch? Also, how much gore is reduced with the update?

Howdy!

I was interested to this game, but never really getting to it since it was too gore-y.
According to the updates, you can reduce the gore through the options.
So I wonder how much gore is reduced and what is the build version of the Nintendo Switch (and so if stuff like Enhanced Mode and the gore reduction are included).

Thank you so much and have a good day!

Im new

I am really new to the whole dark souls or any games like these. I have really fell in love with them because I am 50 and grew up with the scroll or 2d type games. I am on twitch and stream quite a bit but, i suck so bad. Lol. I think the reason im so bad is just because i dont know where to put points. I love a sword type magic build or a paladin type.
Im thinking fir my first playthrough to be a shield sword type paladin. Where do i put points at? What skills should ud i pick on the tree.
I would like to be able to cast some fire spells or magic type Anyone could help or even watch some streams i do and tell me what im doing or chosing wrong i would be highly appreciated. Thnks my peeps

Question regarding first playthrough and modding.

Hey Gamers, I am looking to likely stream a playthrough of this and from there figure out if I want to do a 100% playthrough. From some research I see that people feel the "balancing" of the game to be off. Listed below is the link to Resalted mod I see recommended. Essentially, I just want to know if veterans of the game would recommend a new comer play the base game or do you think it would be a better experience with this mod?

Need help to understand stuff

Just started the game some hours ago, decided in the beginning to aim for the steel centipede.(Skilled into whips and dex).
After some bosses i realized, i didnt choose the right creed in the beginning to get the iron ones. is there anything i can do, to change to that or do i have to fine their sanctuary? im done with the castle of storms and I am kinda lost where to go and if I just should upgrade something else, currently running around with a Varangian Spatha II.
Any pointing in the right direction would be appreciated. I dont even know where I would need to go for their sanctuary.

Mid game salt farming spot?

So I transfused my sword, but didn't realize it required a level 5 sword fighting class. Is there a good mid game salt farming spot?

Lost all buffs?

Just bought a ton of elemental buffs and elemental throwing items from a merchant at my sanctuary (Devara). I did not use any items. I stopped at another sanctuary (did not take oath, just used it as a checkpoint), and after going on a bit I noticed my items were gone. All of the newly-purchased elemental items are missing. Is this a known glitch or did stopping at a different shrine remove them from my inventory?

so i finished salt and sacrifice and i got some problems with

Before anything,i dont think this game is bad, there are some questionable desgin choices in this game which make is me feel that it was rushed

anyway i finished the game and i would like to give my opinion about it

lets start with the bad stuff

1-why make shields exclusive to swords ? it really hurts the varity of builds and there is not much varity in these shields either and the overall weapon varity is meh compared to the first one

2-the game feels slow, not performance wise mind you,but everything in this game have a lot of animation frames that it feels slow after playing the first game for a while

3-mage hunting isnot bad but i really think that having to chase the mage and then fighting it a couple of times before you can fight it like a normal boss fight is tedios, not to mention the minions that spawn and keep respwaning,i think that following the minions and following a different kind of trail (an example is the fire mage where the the path he took is burning, the ice mage leaving a frozen path, etc)

4-despite having shortcuts, they dont feel as meaningful as the first game not to mention not having a map with a game that big makes backtracking more difficult than it should

5-there is so much knockback when getting hit in this game to the point that you might go flying like why ? i barley moved when i got hit in the first game and only did fly when i got hit by a strong attack or by something big which makes sense so how did you miss it up this bad ?

6-the crafting system feels underutilized, there is no varity when it comes to crafting weapons or armors, you can only craft one armor, one weapon for each type (you killed the ice mage ? here is the heavy armor and no there is no light armor, you get what i am saying ?)

7-leveling up kinda sucks, the fact that i need to go back to the statue every time i want to level up is just bad,and leveling up doesnot make you feel stronger like the first game like in the first game i could level up endurance to an insane high level that i could light roll with golem armor (which is around 93 kg) here i can even midroll roll with the earthstone armor (which is around 36 kg) so basically the max stats here are very low

8-since the game is divided into different worlds and not connected like the first game, you would think that you can fast travel to the different check points but nope you cant which is insane since each world is rather big

9-the scaling is rather wierd, you start the game and the first enemy you see can take away like 20% of my health,i max out my health and wear the best armor i can find and he now takes away like 13% of my health, like what the fuck ? i am supposed to feel stronger with time but instead i feel like my character doesnot get that much stronger, and that is just the first area, every enemy in this game hits like a truck, which is just bullshit and dont get me started about the katana wielders

now imagine all of that but with ng+,unless you like suffreing, dont do it

these were the things that i found it to be bad about this game, others may disagree but that is just my opinion

now lets talk about the good things

1-the music is fantastic, espically the soundtrack that plays whenever you are fighting mages

2-the grapple felt like a really fun gimmick and hope that it comes back in future games

3-the combat is overall good, and every weapon felt unique and fun

4-the multiplayer was a fun experience

what are your thoughts guys ?

Skill tree allocation for tachi dex build

I've gotten up to rank 4 daggers and rank 2 light armor. I'm lvl 43 where should I be spending skills now? More into light armor or marksman? Cleric for healing?

I just bought Salt And Sacrifice after playing Sanctuary and..

Honestly as a fan of Sanctuary, Sacrifice isn't THAT bad.

I just got done with the first boss & first mage hunt. The boss was harder then the mage but im running Highblade so its easy to duck and hit.

As far as the quality of the game, it's fun. It isn't a MASTERPIECE but the combat system is enjoyable and fun.

The magic system is okay (tried Sage and the combat is weird with magic + melee) the lack of a shield is an odd choice (well except for Vanguard) but the weapons and offensive combat make up for it.

The NPCs are oddly animated and the art style is both really interesting with enemy designs but lacking in some aspects. It looks like a newer version of Sanctuary.

But overall I like the game. I'd say a 7/10 or 7.5/10 maybe even an 8.

6 save slots is a bummer considering there's 8 classes.

For some reason there's no humans(?) And everybody has elf ears.

If you liked Salt And Sanctuary but felt it was too punishing or clunky in some aspects

If you're still wondering or on the fence, Salt And Sacrifice is worth around $5-$10 I'd argue.  $20? Nah. But I paid $7 and thats a fair price.

edit: to everybody saying "you only beat the first boss" read again. first boss + mage. the game consists of hunting mages. literally rinse and repeat.

since I enjoyed the tutorial, I'm confident to say I enjoy the mechanics of the game.

edit: I just beat the Venomancer and a nameless Pyro, I've also gotten to the 2nd hub area and i still stand by what I said initially.

and honestly this game is an 8/10. it's so much fun and needs more love.

there isn't much else to add after playing it for a few days except there ARE builds and you can grind mages. the game can also get really difficult at times but it's still very enjoyable and I never feel like I'm at a wall.

solid 8/10

Weird encounter with the bloodless prince

So I was just exploring ziggurat of dust trying to progress through the game and I went to the left side of the arena for the bloodless prince and there I found some candles for my next checkpoint. When I went to the left I didn't see any indication there was going to be a boss. Did I go the wrong way?

New player need some advice

I'm lvl 26 fighting the kraken wyrm and getting wrecked. Up until this point the game was easy enough. I have peekslaw rank 2 and a bunch of skills in the assassination tree but I do very little damage. Am I doing something wrong? Should I have upgraded my armor? Or is this boss meant to be hard

How is NG+ in salt and sacrifice ?

I remember maxing out my character in salt and sanctuary and basically becoming unkillable while in sacrifice I would still lose half my health to the starting area`s enemies even with maxed out stats

So how is NG+ ?

F*cking red hall of cages

why does this hell hole of a place exist, damn near lost 50'000 salt there, and I don't think I even got close to the boss room, then there's that area with the hanging ghosts that swap places with you and hang you, and the exit to that place has a drop to almost the bottom floor like half an inch out the door way and don't get me started on the guys with the shield and a sycle or whatever it is, and I'm really hoping that I don't have to compleat this god forsaken place to progress the story
