Hi,
Does anyone know of any swimming instructors or any capable swimmers open to giving lessons.
Training for 70.3 but I have a fear of water! I can swim to an extent but not well enough
I’m not anywhere near Salisbury haha but I had a close friend who lived there about 7 years ago. That’s the last I heard from him…
He had cancer then, and I’m not sure if he’s alive. I met him on a How to Train Your Dragon game surprisingly enough.
I miss him so much. The only info I have is his Pinterest account, his name, and kinda what he looked like 7 years ago.
His name is Austin norowski. I’d really like to see if he’s still alive.
Does anywhere in Salisbury do it?
What is this area like pls? Thinking of a move.
Hey, I’m in Salisbury for work tonight and fancy a few pints. Where’s a good spot to have a random chat with friendly locals? Looking for a place with good vibes and decent beer. Cheers!
Hello!
I moved into the area about a year ago, I absolutely love it, I brought a dog with me and it's absolutely fantastic for that.
Love the cafes, farm shops, and greenery! However, finding it quite tricky to make friends around here! Is anyone in the same boat, or fancies doing anything?
Thank you!
I found this website very useful for small businesses, good free advertising.

We need to promote more the local business, I remember couple years back how salisbury was nice and busy but now a lot of the small shops are closing down.
I made it to your lovely home! Thank you all so much for your help. I did take the train and after a long day of travel, I opted for a taxi to my hotel rather than a walk. Thank you!!! My next question is where to sit and write. I was told costa’s is a great place with free WiFi, and I have been able to get some writing done but it is rather loud and busy. Wherever I go I do plan to be a paying customer, of course! Oh, I was able to get out and stretch my legs a bit with a nice brisk walk to Tesco yesterday. Jet lag hasn’t been too bad. 😊.
Are there any pubs in Salisbury that regularly show rugby, not just international though, like English premiership games ?
Hey there, American visiting in October here again. Thank you all for your comments on my last post!! I greatly appreciate it. I do have a question regarding transportation. I will be arriving via train from Heathrow on a Sunday. I have read to book ahead of time but I’m hesitant as I don’t know how long it will take to get through everything after arrival, along with baggage pickup. 1). Do you think I should book ahead of time and if so, how much time after my set arrival?? If it means only saving a bit of money, I am ok with waiting. But I don’t know what the demand will be and am afraid there won’t be availability on the first train I can get on. And 2) I know my accommodation in Salisbury is about a 15min walk from the train, which is what I was planning to do. Telling family/friends this, they are saying that’s too far. I will have one pack and a medium sized suitcase with wheels. Am I crazy to walk or should I get a ride like Uber?? May be good to stretch my legs after the flight and train ride!
Thank you all again!!! I am getting excited

I'm running a LEGO Robotics workshop in Salisbury (St Pauls Church Centre) on Saturday (21st).
Learn how to program and build a LEGO Robot to have a battle in Brick Robot Wars.
It's a great alternative to Saturday sports clubs, especially for those kids that don't get on with team games.
I've attached a video to see a final melee battle with some imaginatively built competitor bots
Hello! I’m an American looking forward to my first solo trip ever in October and will be spending my first week in Salisbury. I am getting both really excited and nervous. Hoping for a blend of quietness away from my chaotic life here and some new experiences/friends! I’m very open to any suggestions, words of caution, meeting for coffee/tea, and everything in between. See you soon!!
Hi, I’m an intermediate (being generous to myself) tennis player looking for regular hitting partners. Happy to travel across Salisbury, just trying to get some time on court. Send me a message if interested!
Morning all,
A quick note to say that the subreddit is now under new moderation and is back open for posting.
I'm still in the process of getting things set up but have made a start on things like rules and flairs. If you have an suggestions at all please let me know.
hello all! i’ve suddenly gained the urge to learn how to roller blade, and i just wanted to see if anyone on here has any experience or actively blades? :p would love to get in touch!
Partner and I are considering moving to Salisbury. Can anyone suggest some good neighborhoods to live in or which ones to stay away from?
My husband had a massive panic attack today in Salisbury and somehow made it home (to Somerset) this evening without his phone, coat or bag, and with no memory of how he got from the train station to the town centre or into a taxi to get home again. His bag has a kindle in it with our phone number on, so I’m hoping some kind person will find it and call us. But if that doesn’t happen, is there any kind of lost property office in Salisbury? If you found a coat and bag in town, what would you do with it? I appreciate that getting his stuff back is a bit of a long shot, but there are more good people in the world than bad, so I’m keeping my fingers crossed! Grateful for any ideas on where to look / what to do. Thank you!
That's it really, just glad our worst resident has finally been arrested and hopefully now stop being nasty to everyone unfortunate enough to come across her.
Hi there fellow Smallsbury citizens! Does anyone know of a local shop where I can buy the Korean drink, soju?
Hi guys, bar recommendations please! I'm staying with my husband in Salisbury tonight but not been around for a few years, where is good to go for a few drinks and a bit of music these days? Gay friendly a big plus, thanks in advance
Hello, we are a group of psychology researchers from the University of Kent, UK. We are conducting a study about UK citizens' views and perceptions of society and we are trying to recruit a representative sample from different areas in the UK, including people from Salisbury.
It would be a huge help if any UK citizens interested would fill out our online survey (18+ years old only):
EDIT: The survey is now closed! Thank you very much for your time, we will be sure to post the results up here when they're ready.
The survey takes around 15 minutes to complete, and we are happy to respond to any queries or questions. Please private message us to avoid giving away the point of the study to others.
Although the study is voluntary, participants who complete the survey will have the option to take part in a raffle of three Amazon Vouchers (£20).
Thank you in advance for your time!
So I posted a few weeks ago about visiting and I finally made it after a 2 week delay due to illness.
Currently sat in The Bridge Tap and it's like a fucking lunatic asylum. Is there anywhere quieter with sky sports lol
Hi everyone, just wondering whether Salisbury has Uber available? Cheers
Does anyone know of any pubs that run a quiz on Sunday evenings? I see The Pheasant used to but Google says they close at 6pm on a Sunday.
Hi locals,
So I'm going to the tank museum in Bovington on the 17th and as it's over a three hour drive I thought I'd get a hotel for the night in Salisbury on the way back to Warwickshire rather than do it all in a day.
So on that note, I'll be in Salisbury from about 5pm on the Saturday to whenever I decide to head home on the Sunday and need a plan of action.
Any recommendations for food? I'm a 5 minute walk from the centre of the city so I'm going to walk in so I can have a few beers, so any pub recommendations are also welcome (I'm partial to a real ale). The mexican looked good but I can't get in now, there seems to be a few well rated Italians - any thoughts on these?
On the Sunday I have to be out the digs at 10am but it looks like the cathedral doesn't open until 12.30pm so anywhere decent for breakfast? For the cathedral I see it's book in advance for a bit cheaper, does this give full access to the spire as well?
I'm not bothered about Stonehenge as I've been before. I'm curious about the Novichok poisonings is there anything related to that about? My other thoughts are going to the aviation museum just outside Salisbury as I enjoy that sort of thing, has anyone been and is it worth going?
Thanks all, looking forwards to your suggestions 🙂
Coming over from USA this summer. Spending some time in London but looking at landing and doing Evensong at St George’s chapel before staying near Highclere Castle for that tour. Then looking to come to Salisbury for a few nights. Looking at the Charter House. Want to do the cathedral there obviously, but will probably skip Stonehenge. We want to do the Tuesday market too!
Any suggestions on what else to do at the tip of your list? Trying to decide which manor house to visit and want to do high tea. Maybe a better and more local experience than we would find in London.
Would love to hear from the locals! Thanks!
Hello,
My wife and I live in the States and will be moving to the UK this summer, with extremely high odds that it'll be Salisbury (waiting on her job to finalize that detail). That said, we have a few questions and would like you all to assist—my most sincere thanks in advance.
We have found only a few rental properties allowing pets. We have a dog (about 22kg) and a cat (about 6kg), and we will not leave them behind. We're also soon to be a family of four. So we're looking for something of reasonable size, one that has a small garden and is pet friendly, and those qualifiers make rentals appear very scarce. Our budget would be ~£2,000pcm or so. Perhaps a small amount more? We also recognize there are tradeoffs in size, gardens, costs, etc when you live in the city and outside in the rural area, I don't think we have a strong preference for either for the right place.
I'm a very dedicated runner. I'm thrilled to join the running scene in England. I'm curious about your thoughts on how the running is in Salisbury. How's Salisbury Athletics & Running Club? How is running on the rural roads around Salisbury? Do you have any other thoughts on running in the area?
How are the grocery stores, and which is best? My wife absolutely adores cooking, and we've heard from others the selection is just not as good as where we live in the States (it helps that we literally live at the crossroads of American transportation). I'm hard-pressed to believe it's actually not that good, and I imagine we'd make minor shifts in what we consume, but I'm just curious about your thoughts since y'all know best.
Where are the best birding spots within an hour or so of the area? I'm an avid birder and extremely excited to discover all the species new to me. Any recommended spots?
Best pub in town?
Do any of your local (not chain) coffee shops do drip coffee or cold brew? I'm under the impression that it is not consumed nearly as much as it is here, where they dominate.
Lastly, we can send one vehicle over at no cost. In this regard, I am a certified American, as I do drive a Toyota Tacoma. I loathe the idea of getting rid of it since it's not even three years old and fully paid off. I've heard highly mixed thoughts on having a Tacoma in the UK. Some swear I will hate it on the narrow roads; others assure me it's honestly not a problem. What do y'all think?
Again, my most sincere thanks for taking the time to answer these questions. We are absolutely stoked to move abroad and experience the rich culture and history of England. I've been slowly working through the History of England podcast. Perhaps by the time we get there, I'll be further along, as right now, I'm still squarely in the 800s!
