Which is better? I've never used Wipr 2. Price is irrelevant.
I'm having trouble with the audio track on a website in Safari. The audio track and its controls are not visible on the website. However, if I right-click on the relevant area, I can open the control menu. Additionally, if I open the audio in full-screen mode, it works as expected. Is there a way to fix this issue, or is it a problem with the website itself? For reference, I have attached a screenshot showing how it looks in Firefox (Screenshot 3)
Im doing my best to deal with the lack of RES on Safari, but still having tons of issues. Biggest annoyance is that Reddit does not seem to respond to the sort preference. I have told it to sort subreddits by "new", but no matter what I do, it keeps going back to "Hot". Im not sure if I am doing something stupid, or if this is a function of Reddit just having dogshit UI, or something else. Any ideas?
Does anyone know how to block smart banners in Safari?
I'm building a Safari web extension and one of its features is to block banners that promote apps on websites, I'm able to block all the traditional banners which are displayed using HTML/JS but smart banners are added by Safari and not within the page's HTML.
According to their documentation, the way to ADD them to a page is by including this meta tag in the page header:
<meta name="apple-itunes-app" content="app-id=myAppStoreID, app-argument=myURL">
So it would make sense if the way to remove the smart banner would be by stripping this meta tag before the page is loaded.
Except that I don't see the tag anywhere on the page either before or after it's loaded into DOM.
Any advice?
EDIT: I just found out that the smart banner is being displayed due to the .well-known/apple-app-site-association
file. Now I'm trying to figure out if there's a way to block access to it. I've tried using chrome.declarativeNetRequest
with a block rule to no avail.
Hi,
Sorry if this is a dumb question. It is my first time having a Mac and for some odd reason this issue that I am experiencing continues to persist no matter what I do to try and fix it... Every time I delete the default bookmarks and create new ones, for some reason they never save and when I force quit safari, they delete and the default bookmarks come back... Any advice on how to fix this?
Full disclosure this was years ago that I searched a certain site (you can probably guess what) but since then anytime I search the first letter of the word it pops up with that website despite me deleting my entire history and everything countless times. I feel like I’ve tried everything but it won’t stop popping up. This is an image of what it looks like I blurred out the search but you can probably guess what it was lmao
All i need in safary is when i use the side bar (like arc) it has an x on tabs that i can close them from side bar thats all i want in safari rest is ok .
Just like the title says. I was wondering if there is a way to customize the colors or literally anything besides the home screen's background and light vs dark mode.
As a hardcore Apple fanboy, I tried to love and use Safari as hard as I tried with Apple Maps.
After a whole year of forcing myself to love it, I have finally decided to stick with Chrome instead.
Safari's privacy rely is the only reason I stick with it for so long. (OH OH, and also the Reader's Mode that summarize long articles.)
But the bugs and incompatibility with websites just weights off that privacy point.
Lots of sides (even reddit) won't load or wouldn't load correctly. That private rely feature is a double edged sword too, it makes some sites like tiktok showing "your access is denied." "forbidded access" etc.
And lately when i drag the safari windows around, and right click, the right click menu will somehow show on the opposite side of the safari window.
Anyway, too lazy to figure it out, it goes against Apple's care value of Plug and Play.
So yea, today is my first full day back to Chrome, and omg everything is so fast, so smooth! No websites were giving me the error message!
So, farewell Safari. See you in about 10 yrs when you are more matured.
One boring day I decided to activate the debug menu:$ defaults write com.apple.Safari IncludeInternalDebugMenu 1
Soo, I was able to enable overlay with fancy graphs (in menu Debug > Show Resource Usage Overlay):
But if I disable overlay in menu and close Safari − overlay will appear again on next browser startup.
Yep, even I disable debug menu in terminal: $ defaults write com.apple.Safari IncludeInternalDebugMenu 0
Maybe smb know how to disable both – Debug menu AND Resource Usage Overlay?
When opening the Google page in Safari, a black screen appears, and the site doesn’t load. Similarly, when trying to search useing the bar, it doesn’t work, and a black screen shows up. Has anyone faced this issue, and what is the solution?
I'm trying to switch to Safari from Google Chrome as my browser of choice, but one thing that I can't seem to find is the equivalent of "Go Incognito" extension. In Chrome, when you click on it, it will open the current tab in an incognito window, and removes it from your browsing history. Is there a similar function baked in to Safari or an Extension that anyone knows about that has similar functionality?
Hey all, like some of you i've come to the realization that i keep hoarding tabs on.
I know Chrome and other browsers have helpful extensions like xTab, but i'd really like to keep to Safari.
Anyone know a helpful extensions which limits the number of tabs? Maybe to something around 20-50?
Of course, functions like customizable limit and ways of prioritising tabs to be closed would be great.
I already know about the 'close tabs after x amount of time' feature, but i'd prefer a simple hard limit on tab count.
Tab Limit by Dan Browne seems to have been a nice tool, but it's not available anymore...
Hi, quick question – has anyone experienced problems with the Safari browser where it loads webpages very slowly? I’m currently using Safari 18.1.1 but in Chrome or other browsers, it works like a charm. Network traffic at screen, currently I'm facing this issues on Sequoia only.
Private relay is off, didn't helped.
google wants to use my location, yes I allowed it, why does this thing keep popping up every time I go back to the google page??????? I don't care just use my location you don't have to ask so much, annoying af.

Why are the hyperlinks on safari on my iPhone yellow
I already have this deselected under safari preferences but I am still getting pop ups from websites to ask for notification permissions. Furthermore, some of the same websites keep asking me despite me having already selected no many times already.
All safari folders brought back to months ago
For information, in the past I already once lost all my folders that I kept open for remembrance or because I might have needed it in the future, and it all disappeared expect on folder which had no particular use or anything of relevance,
but this is different. One moment my folders are all fine, then I pose down my phone and get back to it after an hour or so. All my folders are gone expect one which I think “aw again ?” But then I open my private page, in which I had other folders and I see them all (or so I thought) which I am relived because half of the folders on my safari are safe. Then I take a moment and read them for what I searched, and I realise they are folds I kept open months ago and a lot of them I long trashed
What the hell ? Is there a way to get back my new folders ?
Does anyone have issues like this? It happened when I resized the window
is it that good? i mean, can some one explain this?
I have several google accounts between various business ventures, personal email, spam email, and internal emails and companies that I contract with. The issue I run into is that on Safari it doesn't automatically go to the "Default" account that I selected. This is really annoying and was curious if anyone had this problem and found a fix!?
