My jimmy has an issue where whenever i have a significant electrical load (ac on, radio running, in gear/breaking) the rpm will drop and sometimes stall the engine (drive through s, stop/go traffic, even at stop lights). It normally idles at around 700 when warm.
Since I got it, I have replaced the AC compressor, alternator, and fixed a timing issue (retarded by ~4°), and new battery. I suspected the timing was off and got it fixed, which did help some, but it still occasionally starts to die, and I have to give it gas to keep it alive. I've checked all the vacuum hoses and made sure the tbi/intake were clean. I'm not sure what else to try/check for. One thought I had was to simply raise the idle rpm, but that doesn't really fix the underlying issue. So I figured I'd come here and see if y'all had any ideas of what it could be and how to fix it. I try to do any repair I can myself, but I'm not opposed to taking it to a mechanic if I have to.
Is it ok to bypass long term? Or Should i have it replaced? I was told i would get better gas mileage. I have the 4.3 vortec motor for reference, 94 s10 blazer. My original was making my motor run really bad so the mechanic that looked at it for me just unplugged it and like magic she was running normally but now i have a engine light and i never had one before. I need your advice
My breathe valve. Or rather where one would be is a hose that runs up to what I believe is the TBI unit. Is that going to be a critical component to redo when I redo the valve cover?
I have a 1994 s10 and I was looking to get more power out of it was wondering ideas or what I should do
Hey guys, I’m currently changing the water pump on my 2000 Sonoma, and when I removed the fan cover I noticed this hose was cut and connected to something. Does anybody know what it might be?
My dash lights do not come on at all and during the day its no big deal but at night time it really sucks having to drive with my phone in my hand just so i can see what’s going on and how fast I am going. Does anyone know the fix for this?
Long story short, I’ve got a 2001 4.3L s-10 and it currently has 227k miles on it. It needs a new head gasket and a few other things in the motor need replaced according to my dad. I’m moving a few states away and I’m taking my truck with me but I want it to be in tip top shape so I’m not having to burden myself with car parts and bills on top of a rough move and higher rents and such. I’m having trouble just finding remanufactured engines for the truck and tbh idk where to really look as this is my first vehicle and first big project when it comes to wrenching. Any advice Is appreciated and if anyone has any more questions I’d be glad to answer them.
I would like to add that while I know the engine will last a long time so long as I take care of it, I’d appreciate the peace of mind of a “new” engine.
Edit: also tempted to do a manual swap while I’m changing out the engine if that’s possible, bc the better mileage and ofc the fun of a manual. Would y’all consider it worth it or nah.
A week ago my ride decided to die forever so I was forced to get something quickly. Luckily stumbled on this truck, and I'm loving it so far.
Getting an s10 blazer today and I was wondering what the best mods are?
Planning to ditch the 4.3 v6 out the 96 s10 for a 5.3 Lm7 does anyone have experience with this kit
Bought this truck a little over 2 weeks ago and it’s runs really good. The only issue I have with it, is that the oil pressure gauge goes all the way down once the truck is fully warmed up. It’s start right in the middle, and stays at about a quarter when I have my foot on the pedal, but when I slow down and it goes to idle, the pressure is lost. Anybody had this problem? The truck had been sitting for a while, so I though maybe the oil was bad, so I changed it as well as the oil sending unit, but it still does it. Could it be something electrical to do with the cluster?
Advice how to remove the sticker.. pin striping? The paint under is super clean. Im guessing heat gun and goo gone or something similar? Seeing if anyone has done this recently to share tips! Thank youuu
My son helped me buy this when I wrecked my car and couldn't afford anything. Who knew I would be so much happier with a $2000 truck than my $20000 car! I am so happy and thankful for my little mini truck!
Recently got a 99 s-10 manual but has a 4 cyl I’m not trying to change the motor what can I do to make it faster
I've done a quick-search on Ebay and closest I saw was for the next generation S10. Not savvy on junkyards, pick-n-pull, or car-parts. And it's also not like I'm getting something reliable from those options right? I imagine there's a reliable website, that caters to refurbished engines. Just need a nudge in the right direction..
May this post help the next generation in the upcoming years, as they type in a similar question, and stumble upon this reddit post... Acknowledging the hearty S10 community.
