Sprinter based Class C recommendations?

Hello, I have a business situation where I might be driving 750 mile round trip every week and spending 3-4 nights a week for the next 4-6 months.

I am comparing hotel+rental+plane to owning a Class C and just driving it. I will be renting one and trying out the trip to see if it works for me, however I want the rental to represent reality so would be renting something that is preferably the same model/layout as the one I would like to buy.

Which brings me to the question. I know little of RVs, I did basic ( just electrical and insulation) class B sprinter conversion many years ago and loved the chassis and drive train. Think Class B will be too small for me so now I am looking for Sprinter based Class C's.

Are there some known good Sprinter based Class C's you guys can recommend? Needs are sits/sleeps 3 (or sits 2 but I can find a way to get a third seat belted seat there), bathroom, preferably can dry camp 3 days for 1 person or 1-2 days with 3. I might be parking this by my friends house and have access to power/water or not...that part is not clear.

Long term parking at a RV park is $1200 a month which kinda ruins the savings aspect of things.

Is my RV battery shot?

I let it sit over the winter unplugged. It was totally dead and I tried trickle charging it for 24 hours. Slidders and everything seemed to work fine yesterday but I unplugged it from the charger today and now the lights are dim and the slidders are going out very slowly. Is there anything I can do to get the battery back or do I just need to but a new one?

I’m still learning as much as I can about my 2018 Winnebago Travato 59g. As I’m doing it, I’ve already found some really cool resources I think folks should know about and I’m sharing now. They've helped me a lot already, so I'm paying it forward.

How does coverage work?

Got a questions: We have a lovely campervan its been parked for over a 1 year with no use. We own it free and clear so the only insurance we have is basic (not full coverage) we want our friends to use free of charge and enjoy it because we don't. So if we let them borrow it i want to make sure they have Full Coverage just incase something happens to it how do I or / they go about that. Also as its a Ford Transit with full build (were into it $150K) how will payout work on that worst case scenario?

Thanks for input.

Winnebago Solis 59PX Lithium System

🤔 Does anyone know why the Winnebago Solis 59PX does not come with lithium battery system instead of the AGM battery+Generator? And is it going to change in future models? Winnebago are giving both options on the Travato, why not the Solis?

I know you can do it yourself later but it will be nice to have it out of the factory optimised and all, instead of doing it yourself after and trying to figure out space to put the lithium batteries

Also people interested in Lithium won’t have that unnecessary generator included

⚠️ This is coming from someone who is planning to boondock a lot and think the generator is too loud

Disconnect the coach battery?

I’m going to be camp hosting for a 3 month stint. I’ll have electrical hookups, should I disconnect my MH battery for this period? Someone told me just sitting for that long is hard on them.

Caravan Wifi - Advice Needed

Hi all,

I'm pretty new to touring and would like to be able to be 'connected' when we're away. I've seen this product (Avtex AMR994X - WiFi) and feel it looks good, but realise that if there is no mobile phone signal in the area, you will get no connection. On the other hand, it is supposed to be good for picking up weaker signals better than a phone would.

I'd be grateful for any feedback, good or bad, from any of you that have this product and what you think. We;ll mainly be touring in the UK with maybe an occasional trip to Europe.

Thanks in advance for any thoughts you can share

Selling Fifth Wheel

Looking to sell my Fifth Wheel (Jayco 2012 Pinnacle 36RETS) as I have upgraded to a 2018.

Not able to trade in so looking at selling myself. What has this group seen as the most successful way to sell and get close to market value? (Facebook Marketplace, RV Trader, Local word of mouth)?

Towing a TT with 2024 Honda Odyssey Touring

I have found a pretty clean 2017 Living Lite Campsite 11fk travel trailer. Its dry weight is 2118 lbs and GVWR is 2872 lbs. Considering that Odyssey’s towing capacity is 3500 lbs I was assuming that it should be okay until I see the trailer. It looks very big so I am not quite sure if it is safe to tow it with Odyssey. Do you think it is safe?

I have a Honda dealer installed hitch and was informed that 2024 Odyssey comes with transmission cooler.

Tongue Jack is at an angle...

I got the trailer from storage and noticed that front tongue jack is at an angle... it pushes the trailer back when it raises the tongue... It is in the dealer now and they are going to take a look...

Anyone have this happen to them? Any insight or advise?

Water Heater not working (Suburban)

I have a 2014 Vista Cruise 19RB with a water heater (made by Suburban,Model SW6DE) that is no longer working. While we haven't used it in many months to travel, we have had a couple of guests stay in it in our driveway. As recent as 2 months ago the heater was working properly. Took it out this past weekend and it did not work.

Checked the breaker and fuse, both are fine. All other gas appliances are working properly. Hit the reset under the rubber grommet on the unit, turned gas off and on. I did find a spiderweb in the tube that feeds gas (not sure what the official name is) and blew that out. Further troubleshooting once home I could not smell any gas coming through or hear any sound if the igniter. Image is almost identical to my model. The on/off switch that us barely visible in the lower left corner is set to ON. I was not aware that this was a Gas/Electric it is describe as a Direct Spark Ignition and Electric Element model.

What else should I check? I hate to have to buy a new one.

Cruise America Adventure Travel Trailer -- any reviews/opinions?

Looking into renting a trailer for some trips this summer -- anyone have any experience with the Cruise America Adventure Travel Trailer (https://www.cruiseamerica.com/rv-rentals/our-vehicles/adventure-travel-trailer-rental)?

I hear mixed reviews with Cruise America in general, but specifically looking for any reviews or experiences with the trailer.

2000 National RV Tropi-Cal Fuel Pump

I own a 2000 Tropi-Cal and I'm trying to find out the part number for the fuel pump, I have removed it but I don't see any brand or part number, do you know of any resource to find technical info or where to buy it?

Found another fuel pump from Autozone using the VIN number, but it doesn't even look like the original.

Thank you.

Class B’s

Hey y’all. My wife and I will be in the market to buy a rv. We’ve decided that a Class B would be most appropriate for us. My question is this……..I’m 6’4”, are there any tall guys out there that have Class B’s? If so, what are some of the things you looked for in a rv?

minimum pull capacity for Starcraft Superlight Maxx 16FBS

Hello,

I am looking to buy an SUV that can pull a medium size RV such as "Starcraft Superlight Maxx 16FBS".

GVWR for that particular RV is 4995 lbs.

So, my question is, can I use an SUV with 5000lbs maximum pull capacity? or must I go for something higher?

Thanks!

5th Wheel Living Advice

1st Full-timers in 5th Wheel

Hello! We moved into our fifth wheel about 5 months ago. This winter we've been limping along. We did -some- research beforehand, but are experiencing things we've never considered. Hoping you guys could provide some insight, tips, and answers! I've posted my questions below. We are currently stationed in good old rainy oregon and are living on a piece of property with family.

1.) Humidity in bedroom is AWFUL. What is the best mattress protector you guys have used? Online reviews seem paid for and untrue.

2.) How to keep it warm without overusing our propane?

3.) Best product for skirting around our fifth wheel?

4.) Should we have any sort of tarp on top/around our fifth wheel? Living full time in it, not sure if we need a protective cover.

5.) Should we put plastic covers on our windows during the winter months?

If you guys have ANY other tips or tricks, I'd SO appreciate feedback. We're young and inexperienced and I'm realizing this was a bigger decision with much more research that should've gone into it.

Suggestions/advice/input?

Hey y’all. Don’t know much about RVs but have been acquiring an interest recently.

Curious if there are any models with a shower but no toilet?

If yes, could one conceivably have larger grey/fresh water tanks instead?

How customizable are the available options for these types of accommodations? For example, if I wanted to find a unicorn RV with a shower/grey water tank only- no toilet & no sinks in bathroom or kitchen (no black water or potable water at all, except shower).

Is this something I could find and purchase? Or would I be destined for a custom modification?

New RV floor plans for 2024

After visiting the Tampa RV Show this past week, I've been putting together a list of my favorite all-new floor plans. The themes I found:

  • Class A motorhomes with a desk/workspace
  • Class B vans, Class C, Travel trailers with murphy beds
  • Fifth wheels with two full bedrooms and two bathrooms
  • Towables with double bunks or queen bunks

Lots of interesting new stuff out there! I put together a video about them - hope it's alright to share here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3nw4qfZ3mfs&ab_channel=RVEnvy
