The SS 2024 surveys are out make sure you take the time to be honest about your experience! Hopefully they make some changes!
It's a bit tough for guys to find awesome running outfits for Disney races, but I just came across some good possibilities. Help me decide which one to get, and thanks! (The the marathon in January)
https://www.etsy.com/people/rollem?ref=hdr-fav&tab=items
(And like a dummy I found two more right after posting! Tiana and a 50th anniversary design)
Does anyone fly back the Sunday after the marathon or do most people fly back Monday? If you fly back on Sunday after the marathon, how do you handle the check out process?
Ok this is really dumb question yall, but will we see a preview of the 2025 Princess Half Weekend theming before registration? I ran this year but registration happened while we were across the country for a wedding so I was a tad preoccupied 😂I know we saw Wine and Dine (SO jealous of everyone getting to run this one, I love Remy!!) before so I’m assuming we do for Princess as well, I just literally cannot remember at all!
Hi everyone! Running my first runDisney half marathon and Im looking to purchase a running vest with a water pack or just a thing Fanny to keep my phone and maybe tissues. Is there one that's more popular/ recommended? I'm about to start my more intense training and want to get used to running with either that I purchase.
Hi folks. I've completed a lot of run disney races myself but my 9yo niece may start to join me. It's been a while since I've done a 5k so just looking for any tips on those who have had kids with them. Are you placed in the same corral? Are there corrals for 5k? How have your kiddos dealt with getting up so early and waiting in corral? Thanks for any input! (Thinking of princess 2025)
I was cleaning my room and I found this in a drawer. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to run this race, but it brought back some memories!
I will be running my first RunDisney race in Jan and I am booking my hotel. I know the expo and stuff starts on Wednesday. Do you have to check in and get your stuff Wednesday or could I fly in and get it Thursday. Just trying to save some PTO. My race is the 10k on Friday. We would be staying at Disney Thursday-Monday.
Is the post race party actually worth it as a non runner? My friends are running and wanted me to purchase a ticket. Is there anything else open to do in Epcot besides eating and drinking for 5+ hours?
Hey guys. I have a 10k and a 10 miler available for my POT, but I’m unsure which would be best.
10K: 59:13 10 miler: 1:37:34
I’m assuming the 10K would be better since it’s a 9:32 pace instead of a 9:46 pace, but I’m not a rD expert lol
Hey Guy! So I submitted my proof of time yesterday and gave them a link to a 10k I completed and I realized that on rundisney I have my complete hyphenated name (Maiden Name-Married Name), but for the race I just did I was registered with just my married name. Is this going to be a problem. Should I contact rundisney?
Hello good people of Reddit
I ran my very first challenge at Springtime Surprise and I loved every minute of it. However I think I under trained a little for it. A couple days after the race I realized my knees were absolutely killing me. And upon some googling it sounds like it might be runners knee. Any tips on recovery between races and post challenge so this doesn’t happen again? I have Wine and Dine to look forward to!
Question: did everyone get the email about submitting proof of time for W&D Half?
I'm pretty sure that I put 2:31-2:45 - that doesn't provide a proof of time, correct?
Just did the Springtime Surprise challenge and had so much fun. Looking forward to signing up for more races as they open, for sure the Princess HM and hopefully DL HM as well.
This was my first RD event since having a baby, and my most recent one since pre-Covid. I'm a slow runner but would like to get my pace up in this off-season so I can get a higher corral next year (I was in D this time). I've never submitted a POT before and since I'm not signed up for a current race, I can't find any good info on the RD website.
I've read that there's typically a cutoff time of 2:30 for the half marathon to submit a POT, is that right? And do you have to submit a half or full POT if that's what you're running? For example, could I submit a 10k time for a half marathon?
Appreciate any insight I can get on the POT process. This was my 3rd RD event but I've never bothered doing the process before as I'm always just trying to stay ahead of the balloon ladies lol. Hoping to change that!
I have a group of friends running a Disney virtual race in a couple weeks and my house is right at the halfway point of their run. I want to set up like a water and Gatorade station, but what can I do to make it fun and Disney!? Thanks for all your ideas!
I did one of the virtual Springtime Surprise races but every time I try to submit my time on the RunDisney site I get a “request could not be processed” error. I’ve tried submitting my time both during the event (on the actual weekend when it was still active) and several days since then, so it doesn’t have to do with timing. I’ve tried to do it with both my phone and my laptop and on multiple different browsers. Is anyone having this issue? I’ve done 10+ other virtual RunDisney races and have never had a problem. I’m a bit disappointed because I wanted to see the finisher certificate.
does anyone know when the expo will be for the january marathon (just an estimate). Like a week before?
Does anyone know what the “Surprise” was during the Springtime Surprise Race Series? I have heard two things:
Higher Corrall Placement. People were surprised to find themselves in a higher corral than usual.
Pay for the after-party. People were surprised to have to pay $85 per person for the after party when the entire season, it was inferred to have been part of the registration like it is for Wine and Dine.
Just want to make sure the photos are still processing for everyone vs if I need to contact support. The support page says they should appear within 24hrs so just making sure! My first Disney race so I’d appreciate input from others.
I was disappointed to learn that the magnificent volunteers at the Springtime Surprise races did not receive a complimentary park ticket.
runDisney’s races are profit-generating cash cows for the corporation.
As the cost of a runDisney race increases and the quality decreases (worst race t-shirts and lame post-race refreshments), it calls into question the very use of volunteers.
To what end does someone volunteer to support the profit of a corporation's cash cow enterprise? When do you tell the for-profit team that you cannot use volunteer labor and must rely on paid labor?
If we look at the early days and things that made running a sport, races were organized as labors of love, and people volunteered to help make them happen. Small registration fees were charged to help defray costs not covered by sponsors, donors, or volunteer labor—like the overtime of the law enforcement officers who provided security or the medical tent supplies.
At some point, a for-profit element surfaced, and race directors and staff would receive compensation or a salary.
Ok.
But, come on. Where is the line? It's time to apply a limit, or this will turn into a behemoth.
Just ran the 10miler in 1:25:36 and so bummed that I may just have missed out on potentially getting corral A for marathon weekend. Any one given A with this time? Could have gone faster but that Epcot to Hollywood Studio connecter slowed me down almost 2 minutes
Worse case I get to the front of Corral B but I’d rather stroll in to A before group closes than to sit around 2 hours early lol I was in C for springtime and while running past thousands of people felt pretty rewarding, it was also very energy consuming
Reading another post has got me thinking about race etiquette. I am not a runner at all and have signed up for the Wine and Dine Half. Training is going well and I’m up to 5 miles now (after literally never doing any form of running). I’m training with the pacer times and will be doing 15/30 run walk the whole 13 miles (I know there’ll be some bottle necks so might not always be possible).
What should I be doing so I don’t annoy actual runners as I’ll be stop start the whole course? I’ve read about hands up, staying to the right etc but it’s my first ever running event so don’t want to annoy people who can run the whole thing.
Thanks in advance.
There’s been a lot of debate of what a perfect season is and isn’t. I’ve always thought a perfect season was all the races in the race calendar per the run Disney season. Now people are saying a perfect can whatever you want it to be since it’s not officially recognized by Run Disney. Can be some races, no coast to coast races, all races, no half or full marathons, ect. I think back to the time before dopey was an official challenge, a group of runners called doing every race during marathon weekend, a dopey. That definition has never changed. So my question is, what is the consensus on a “perfect” season?
Can anyone list all of the characters that were on the 10 miler race course today, please? Thank you!
Already looking into doing The Disney Princess Runs with my wife next year! My Stepdad and I even managed to get a photo with the Legendary Jogging Jack Sparrow! Thank you all for making this first experience so amazing, hope to see you in 2025!
I was impressed with most people’s race etiquette today-at least my personal experience from Corral D. Walkers for the most part stayed to the right and run/walkers were good about signaling when they were running/walking. A few issues but nothing compared to what people were like in California. Overall very impressed with today! It was one of the better RunDisney events I’ve experienced!
Did anyone get a good picture of the guy who was dressed as the tree of life? Mine came out blurry and I want to show my friend. It was so impressive.
This is supposed to be just a fun look so I’ll note that the apps obviously aren’t 100% accurate, but I would imagine they’re a close approximation. So how much extra did you run between weaving and taking outside lines on turns?
I went 3.24 miles (.14 higher) on the 5k, my tracking of the 10k got messed up so no data, and I did 10.37 this morning. The biggest takeaway for myself is just how inefficient my pathing appears to be.
(Also, congrats to all the runners on a great weekend, the spectators for providing a lift, and the volunteers/workers for organizing everything.)
How long does it take for them to get uploaded after the race?
