What's new in Royal Oak, Michigan.

Last year or earlier this year we saw M83 in Royal Oak. It was standing room only and literally no matter where we could squeeze in we could not see the stage, down on the floor or up by the bar. The whole concert we could only hear the band. I've seen other bands play here and had no issues, but is this common for this venue? We have tickets to Ben Bohmer in March and want to be able to experience the full show. I usually arrive to shows when the main act is scheduled to go on stage and am happy to stand in the very back but would still like to be able to somewhat see the stage. I'm happy to come earlier to this venue if that makes a difference. Just looking for some tip/ideas/experience for this specific venue. Thanks everyone :)
Looking for a local tailor to hem a couple of dress shirts I just got. Anyone have a suggestion for a good place at a reasonable price?
Just wondering what holiday fairs you all like to attend that are within a few miles of RO (or say 20 minutes driving time)
Anyone have a recommendation for a men's hair stylist with some outside-the-box skills that can give me a consistently good cut? Someone who can remember what I'm looking for on return visits. I lost the stylist I used for years and I'm fed up with randomly trying new stylists and getting mediocre to awful cuts.
Trying to find what year NCI opened at 12 & Main, and what was there before it. My earliest memories of visiting National was high school in the mid 90s, and I thought it was relatively new then. Can’t find anything definitive in Royal Oak Twigs & Acorns book, or on google. Hoping one of you have a memory of it!
Hi all! Our family moved here just a few weeks ago and we're looking to take newborn photos of our baby girl somewhere scenic, preferably with a lot of fall foliage.
Does anyone have recommendations for photo locations? She's immunocompromised, so the less traffic from others, the better!
Are you tired of the negativity, extremism and divisiveness in politics?
Ranked Choice Voting increases voters' options, enhances voters' power, and holds politicians more accountable to voters, simply by allowing voters the option to rank candidates.
Come to our town hall at 5:30pm this Wednesday, 10/30, at Royal Oak Public Library to see how it works and how you can help us change the way we vote in Michigan with non-partisan Ranked Choice Voting.
You can visit our web site www.rankmivote.org for more information, including other upcoming town halls.
We are new Michigan residents as of a few months ago. I am researching candidates on the ballot. In the state where I lived previously in cases where judges don’t have party labels or clear world views I have relied on bar association ratings that list a person as Well Qualified, Qualified, Not Qualified, or No Rating.
This is plenty of information out there for Michigan Supreme Court judges, but I haven’t been able to find bar association ratings for judges. Can anyone guide me to anything similar that can provide impartial information on judges?
Do any of you have a home vegetable garden? Tell us about it? What are you growing? How did your grow go this season? Do you make your own compost? I don't garden at all. I think the people that do are really cool.
Is there a map to find out what houses decorate for Halloween?
Anyone have any ideas for cool milestone birthday experience in the area? Hubbys 30th is coming up and racking my brain for something fun/unique. He’s a huge Lions fan, so a game is on the list already!
Not registered? The City Clerk has set up an office across from voting to get you registered. If your current address isn’t the one on your drivers license, bring/print out a recent bill in your name and bring it along. Don’t have picture ID? You can fill out an affidavit. Royal Oak Senior Center on Marais. 8:30 - 4:30 every day till Nov. 3 except Thursday which is noon to 8:00pm.
Just a heads up for folks, was wanting some ramen and not wanting to go further than a light walk. Nope, gone. Dunno where to go now, and the new ramen place coming in honestly doesn't look amazing.
Hi, I am looking for a restaurant with good vegan food near the Royal Oak Music Theatre- any suggestions?
Can I get a recommendation on a tire shop? I need to replace tires. I took my car to a couple of different places before and they scuffed my rims every time. I guess a tire shop that takes care of expensive cars would do a better job
I was on the fence with who to vote for. I do not follow the party system. I vote for whom is best for me.
I like Kamala for women's rights, even though I am a male. I like Trump because I am a gun guy.
My decision was made for me today. Driving home from work this evening I spent 30 minutes at Square Lake road and Woodward because a Republican VIP was being moved.
During rush hour. At one of the busiest intersections in the area. In one of the most populated counties in the state. I feel like I got the middle finger over and over again while watching the traffic light change over and over while I sat there. Just seems like maybe there is a better time to make this move.
I need to get a wall charger installed for an EV car. How much did you guys pay?
So, me and my family are going to Michigan in vacations in december. We are staying in Royal Oak, near the public library. Since we're brazilians we are not familiarized with the winter in this way.
Is there any place near so we can do some 5k runs on these days? Is it possible regarding of the weather? What do you guys do for exercising?
Like the title says. We have a plain Detroit Tigers Jersey and my son want to be Tarik Skubal for Halloween. Wondering where to get this done around town.
Thanks!
The building clearly has a lot of work remaining; including a missing window on the top floor. I don't see much progress happening. Does anyone have insight about the project?
Are there any plant clubs in R.O or the surrounding area?
Looking to learn more about caring for plants, propagation/cloning, etc.
Just after 3:30pm I was heading west on 11 mile and got stopped at the light on the overpass just before the I75 southbound off ramp/service drive, and then heard sirens. I looked down at I75 to my right and saw multiple police SUVs blocking traffic, then more SUVs came up the ramp to block traffic at the intersection, and then a procession of what seemed like 50-100 various official vehicles--including State police SUVs, unmarked black SUVs and dozens of unmarked white vans as well as a few city ambulances came through and turned onto west bound 11 mile in front of me. There was also a helicopter hovering overhead but very high up. They continued with their lights on but no sirens.
When I got up to the light at Washington to turn right/north, I could see they had begun blocking off side streets. I checked to see if there is any info online of any special events or incidents going on today, but I see nothing... anyone know what's up??
Call me frustrated... anybody know excactly what time the Kroger on 12 mile starts providing cashiers? I admit I tend to shop in the mornings, but I've been there after 9am and no cashiers... I don't mind self checkout for a couple of things, but I don't want to fight with their machines if I have a larger order. The last time I went the machine decided I'd done it wrong and I had to start my entire order over. I find the store handy for location, but not if I can't get a cashier for larger orders.
