Views on the book "Probabilistic Robotics by Sebastian THRUN"

I recently started to study SLAM and I came across this book and it was suggested by many professors of most prestige universities such as MIT and Stanford, UC Berkly. I believe that this book is good but it lags the idea of implementation of the algorithms. Only if it had more of a practical implementation approach of explanation.

What do you guys think about this book and do you think this is the book worth spending time on?

Robotics

Hi im a highschool student and one of our requirements to graduate highschool is to conduct an experimental research, it has 4 categories ithink, life science, physical, robotics and science innovation.

At first life science is our first choice but with the current situation, our research teacher already told us that it wouldnt be possible because laboratories are all full and that we cannot travel easily unlike pre pandemic. So our second choice is robotics but i kinda need your help because we cannot think of research problem that is complex and uncommon for us://

It would be very appreciated if you can give us research robotics ideas hshahs Im really sorry for bothering you. Thank youuuu id appreciate it a lot

Recommendation on Practicing Robotics Simulation

Hi Everyone,

I am an undergrad computer science student and now trying to learn some robotics stuff. But as you know, starting out on a totally unfamiliar field is difficult. Therefore, I am wondering if there are any software for robot simulation and example projects (maybe on github)?

In particular, I am interested in the following questions:

  1. Are there any recommended platforms / softwares?
  2. What is the feature of this software, and what kind of robots is it mainly designed for?
  3. If you happen to have some related open source example projects for this software, please tell me.

Thank you for your time and kindness! Your advice will certainly help many starters like me!

Foundations of robotics

Hello everyone,

I am a recent undergraduate in production Engineering with specialization in mechatronics. Although I have a degree but it did provide me with strong foundation in the field that i am interested in (robotics and AI). So i was looking for some courses or books that can help me build firm foundations and also enabling me to do some projects on my own.

P.S: I am not in a position to pursue a full time masters degree so till that I want to utilise time more efficiently in my interested field of study.

How to find a research topic for my PhD study in robotics?

I am a second year PhD student in the field of robotics. I have learnt some courses about deep learning, reinforcement learning, control engineering and convex optimization. In my lab, we have some robots such as turtlebots, PR2 , UR5 and shadowhand. But I can not find a research topic to step into. Could someone give me any suggestions?
