Rilakkuma (リラックマ), a combination of the Japanese pronunciation of relax and the Japanese word for bear, is a Japanese character designed by Aki Kondo and produced by San-X in 2003. Often joined by his friends Korilakkuma, Kiiroitori, and Chairoikoguma.

Well, technically it started out at my mom and myself texting, but the kumas had to have their say…
Happy Halloween everyone,
We've seen so much growth here in just a few short years. Thank you all for the love and engagement that you show every day towards our shared hobby AND towards eachother.
We feel that this is an extraordinarily kind community; it's rare that there is any objectionable behavior that we need to act on. Almost all moderating we have to do is just for organization / administration, so thanks for making our jobs easier!
Congratulations on this milestone. We know that kawaii adjacent hobbies are not very accessible outside of Japan, but Rilakkuma has become more popular because there are people like you that love him and his friends.
As a closing, please feel free to join in a community discussion to celebrate:
What is your favorite Rilakkuma design or theme?
What is your dream Rilakkuma collaboration?
How has Rilakkuma inspired you to live a more relaxed life?

TLDR: how do I restore rough plush fur to it’s original soft texture?
Hello! I’m new to collecting San-X and just joined this sub.
I thrifted this Korilakkuma plush, which had a huge dark blue marker stain. I spot-cleaned it with a baking soda and vinegar mix, then patted it down gently with a clean rag dipped a bit in fabric softener. When that didn’t work, I used a new tootbrush, dipped it in the solution, and scrubbed quite a bit.. (might have been a mistake but I was desperate to get the stain out) Most of the stain did come out, but now the fur’s a bit messed up. Is this fixable? Will combing it with a slicker brush help? (I tried with my regular hairbrush, but that didn’t seem to work). It doesn’t look that bad but I’m hoping to restore it’s softness back. Sorry this became too long to read. TIA
I LOVE those little san-x memo pad books, especially the Rilakkuma ones, but never have any use for them! Ideas? Other than for jotting to-do lists & such, which always feels like such a waste throwing pretty paper away afterward :(
