Rilakkuma (リラックマ), a combination of the Japanese pronunciation of relax and the Japanese word for bear, is a Japanese character designed by Aki Kondo and produced by San-X in 2003. Often joined by his friends Korilakkuma, Kiiroitori, and Chairoikoguma.

For all things Rilakkuma.

Update on my $4 (technically) Korilakkuma

Hi everyone!! I know nobody really requested a follow up but I wanted to share this since it's my first Korilakkuma plush ever!! :D After ordering I was a little weary of it since it had been listen for $4, but it turns out it is a licensed plush and it did actually get to my house in the form of a plush and not a sticker (it was also not stolen or tampered with by the USPS delivery person lol)

I'm pretty happy with her and that I got a good deal!! ^^ (technicallly it was $13 cause of shipping but oh well)

Mercari Rilakkuma buyer swapped out original item that I sent for a different item. Mercari sided with buyer.

DISCLAIMER: The buyer's sister already reach out to me and resolved this issue. Please do not harrass them. I'm posting this here to raise awareness since this was a very traumatizing experience for me.

I listed the San-x Korilakkuma and Chairoikoguma Cherry Plush on Mercari for $850 which is market-price. In the Rilakkuma community, this is one of the most sought-after bear and I had plush in a new condition with its original tags.

Back story: This bear was an important anniversary gift from my boyfriend. Since we are desperate to move out because of our previous living conditions, we decide to let this bear go and use the funds towards getting our own apartment and my summer college class. It was a very sentimental plush to me.

Before mailing it the bear, I took many photos of myself, my boyfriend, and my sister holding the plush since we are letting go of a precious item. I sent Mercari these personal photos that I took with my own face in it to show that the bear I had is brand new with tags.

Once the buyer received the item, she submitted a return request. Here is the photo of the plush the buyer claimed to have gotten. The fur of koguma (the brown bear) is different and there is no tag found at all. Missing a pompom on koguma and no tags. If the item got damaged during shipment, then why is there no trace of the missing items?

Before I could even respond to the claims that the item the buyer received was damaged, Mercari approved the return.

I have bought and sold on Mercari countless of times. I have been sold a fake by another scammer at one point. Mercari quickly refunded me with no issues. Knowing this as a seller, there is no reason for me to sell a clearly damaged item because the buyer can easily report it to Mercari. What I did not account for, however, is the buyer claiming they got something completely different than what I have sent. I only record a video of me dropping the item off because I thought that the worse case is the plush gets lost during shipment and I will need to file a claim with USPS.

The new Mercari policy is that the buyer can return for any reason. They also said that to prevent returns in the future, I should post clear photos that are my own. I showed them proof that these pictures came out of my own camera roll but I don't think they even reviewed it. After going back and forth with multiple Mercari customer service representatives, they said there is nothing they can do since Mercari policy is that the buyer can return for any reason, kept sending return policy URL, and they insist that the pictures the buyer provided is the item they got. I can only report to Mercari if the item the buyer sent back is not the same.

I've messaged the buyer on Mercari to no avail. They continued posting items after I sent my messages. I found their Instagram account under the same name and reached out for the last time. The person that responded is the sister's buyer and she said she let her sister use her account to manage while she was busy with work and school. She apologized for what happened and made it right by sending back my original plush.

Sorry if you have to see this twice since I am posting the same post on the Mercari reddit as well. Thank you for taking the time to read this!

TLDR: I sold a plush and the buyer had their own plush and took pictures of it and claimed that they receive a damaged plush instead of the one I sent. The buyer returned the damaged one.

What is this?

I ordered this online blindly because I loved how it looked, but looking into it some more I genuinely can’t find any info on it. The original seller say it’s from a long time ago but they don’t remember anything else. Does anyone know anything about it?
