Hello, I just did an hour of work and Rhino tried to close down after I moved the layers window out the way in layout. Now it’s frozen in this screen. This happened earlier today and I just restarted my computer thinking there would be a recovery file, but I couldn’t find a recovery file. Does someone know what I can do to save my work?
Hi,
I imported 3 STL files into Rhino. They're in one file, same layer, using the same textures. Two objects don't change colour when the sun turns on and they render to black. The other has visible textures when rendering with or without sun. I reduced the number of polygons and hit flip a few times. Any ideas?
Hello! Is anyone know how to offset curves surface on multiple surface? It'll work only on one surface but can't select multiple surface. TIA :)
Hi everyone - I am struggling getting rid of this flare at the bottom of my ring. I built this piece with network of surface curves, and when I boolean out the sizing circle it makes this weird flare at the bottom?
Hi All, Best buy currently has a sale for a desktop seems to fullfill all the requirements for Rhino 7(what I am using) Most of my projects are large in size but I rarely need to render anything. The one I use at work is Alienware which seems to have a less than stellar reputation on this subreddit. The Omen is 1200 usd with the following specs:
HP OMEN - 25L Gaming Desktop - Intel Core i7-14700F - 32GB DDR5 Memory - NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 Ti - 2TB SSD
Has anyone used an Omen pc and is this a good deal?
Thanks in advance
I originally used the purple object to cut the object using boolean difference. I moved it off the object because I had to manipulate the main mesh and convert it to a nurb which it is now. Now I need the purple object to fit back where it came from (or at least close as it doesn't need to fit exactly. Grateful if anyone has any ideas on how to do this. I try to create lines on the object and use orient to surfaces but since the object is so complicated it doesn't work.
I need to move the purple on the right to sit in the groove on the hand on the left without sinking into it. Also it doesn't fit bottom to bottom. The right side is higher (the line in the purple is actually the bottom).
Is there a way to drape an object some how without the object losing the top shape since this will be a plate that needs to remain rigid on top. Thanks
Any ideas on how they have achieved a raised, detailed design like this??
I'm fairly experienced with Sketchup but recently purchased Rhino 8. When I first got Rhino the Panels were part of the interface docked on the right side, with each panel associated with a panel tab. With the panel selected the panel's contents would be displayed vertical. I selected the panels and dragged them to my second monitor. But I can't figure out how to get them to display like they were originally. I see that when you drag the panel group around on the Rhino home screen little blue rectangles show up which indicate locations you can put the panels but none of those will dock the panels like they originally were. So, what is the trick to do so?
I cannot for the life of me find an available script for this, there's 100000s circle packing grasshopper scripts but nothing that can allow me to set radi, and pack them on a surface.
I.e: I have a surface and I want to pack circles with 1.5, 2.5, and 3.5 radi. Doesn't matter how many, just packed.
This seems impossible to find on the Web hah, anyone got anything here?
I inserted a closed polysurface partial on a mesh and now I need to remove everything above the polysurface. Tried everything but it is messy. Any ideas here? Thanks in advance. The grey on top of the purple is what I want to go. The grey is a closed mesh.
I create a lot of illustration in Rhino, which some of them require different material assigned on each object. I'm tired jumping between two different files. Is there any way or tool to solve this?
Messing around with form and liked the idea of distorting a form while it’s trapped in this circular shape, is there any way to replicate this in rhino, I’m not having much success with the control point curve function
Hey guys. I want to undo a BooleanDifference to get the beams without the holes. Is there a single command? I know that it is easy to fix it, with just a box and than BooleanUnion. I was just wondering if there might be such a command
Hello all!
I'm a super-noobie trying to transition from F3D and need some coaching...
Attached you will see a pic of a spatula I'm trying to model... I'd like to bend the handle up right about where the handle starts, just a little to the right of the origin (?) point. I have played around with the bend tool for about an hour and can make it bend in every direction but up!
Any suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated!!
Thanks for taking the time to read this...

Morning everyone (at least here in italy is morning). my first post here and not a native english speaker so excuse any misspelling. so i was going to buy a mouse with multiple side buttons (i have as best option 'till now the "zelotes c-12") but i have one big doubt: how can i program the side buttons as shortcuts for my commands? thanks you all who will help me
Hey does anyone know how to stop this from happening when I print. Is there a way to prevent the line from going across the other? When it’s in rhino it doesn’t show this until I print to pdf. It also only seems to be doing this when the line weights are varying. Can anyone help me?
I use rhinoceros with the rhinocam plugin to machine molds and I have learned many things but I am getting stuck and I don't want to. I want to learn more. What do you recommend to learn? In my case, I make molds. I learn another program or I learn grasshopper rhino. I see it well but I feel that this will not give me a contribution, although that's what I say, maybe yes, but I want to move forward, I'm staying behind and I don't know what to learn for what I do, which is machining injection molds.
Hi - I am trying to construct the bottom half of a ring. I am using surface of curves to try to do the bottom half of the ring by using arc blend on the top part.
For some reason this isn't working - but has worked in the past? Anyone have any other ideas to complete the bottom half of this shank.
im in shaded mode and i already removed all the rendered materials and it still shows itself like this??
So I’ve been having issues with my computer shutting down. I’d say 9/10 times this happened I’m using rhino. I have been using rhino for 5 years. It still is probably a computer issue but the past 2 instances have a constant. I saved rhino and then it shut down. This was actually the longest I’ve gone in a while without saving and I was like uh oh. Should probably save in case it shuts down. And then right after it saves it shut down. Same thing yesturday. I have absolutely no idea how to diagnose or remediate this issue. I have a Lenovo TP P1 Gen 2 i9 32gb ddr4 1tb storage. I have 229gb left.
Urgent help needed. How can close the faces of this object such that I can join everything to be a solid after? Ive tried Patch surface but it doesnt intersect correctly with the existing shape to create a solid. Ive also tried surface from network of curves but thats not working either. Please help!!!
I am trying to get this clipped model out to print to scale to then trace over, any advice on how to proceed.
View capture to file isn’t very clear, rhino render doesn’t show the black clipped line that I need for this. Im in a bit of a rush, any help would be appreciated. Thanks
Hi all,
Wondering if anyone can share their favorite resources for learning grasshopper relatively quickly. I’ve searched online and within the subreddit, but most I’ve found seem old (which maybe doesn’t matter?)
Appreciate the guidance. I’m fine with paying if it’s worth it. Bonus points for follow along/project type tutorial.
Thanks so much!
I have those two closed curves that I loft to create the shape you can see in the images. Problem is I need the surfaces (each side) to be planar!! but somehow they aren't, I thought aligning everything like you can see from the top view would make the sides planar, but I feel like I am missing something, maybe something wrong with my logic? can anyone help me figure out how to get those surfaces planar? Any help is much appreciated!! Thank you
I want to remove the zero. I want the list to start with 1 . Please help
