I have a python script, I'd like to install it, and call it back by using a custom alias...
there was a way but I can't remember, it's been long since I dealt with scripting on rhino
recently I updated my rhino to 8 and I already had rhino inside revit with me and I uninstalled it thru control panel (rhino inside revit) and installed again from food4rhino which is not showing up in revit and contol panel programs as well, After that and I tried to clear the app data of rhino inisde revit and installed again, still its not working
What to do??
Hi everyone, I’m new to rhino and I’ve created a grasshopper script trying to extract xy coordinates at certain intervals in a single line. I’m able to extract the points successfully but the order of coordinates is getting mis matched, can some one please help me on how to extract the coordinates as per my points order in a single line.
I have created a 3d map with cadmapped.com as a mesh so it'll highlight the bridges much better that outlines. I have extruded the mesh down by 2mm but i didn't know the extrusions would be hollow. Is there any way to fill these in so they are solid?
Hi!
I am trying to import an IFC file to Rhino. After some quick search GeometryGym seems to be the most used modul.
I dont understand why I cannot download it. Food4Rhino tries to install the plugin from the website and I get a error message: "Rhino needs to be installed on this computer to dowload this app"
(Rhino is running)
I never had any problem downloading GH moduls.
Does anyone had this problem before or knows what is the solution?
Thank you!
I have a photogrammetric scan of a physical model that is for some reason separated into multiple meshes. I would like to trim the places where wholes should be (the darker spots). MeshTrim seems to be too laborious for each mesh just to create one window. Is there a simpler way?
Hello.
So I do my surface modeling in rhino, export to fusion for thickening and adding additional hardware and such.
But when I do that, and export for 3D printing to test parts, it makes my model incredibly small.
When I export from rhino into STL, it’s fine.
Does the conversion do some weird stuff that I should double check when importing a rhino file into fusion/solidworks?
Also, side note question: when I save my rhino file and open it up later, all of my layers are gone. How should I save a rhino file to keep all of that information?
Thank you!
hello, i am a student and i’m having trouble with using the raytrace view in rhino. When I change my view to ray trace, the shadows on my original rendered model disappear. my background also changes from black to grey? (i’m using spotlight in my render too) Is this what's meant to happen? I have attached some images. Render is on the left, Ray Trace on the right.
I'm not sure what I did to mess up all my files but somehow all my lines on all files are now skewed and pulled in all directions. I must've messed up my views somehow if someone could please help me I'm struggling rn
I am trying to create a fabric simulation that requires lofting a number of different, unusual curves on multiple planes. I am trying to find a way to map a detailed c plane curve to a dynamic shape so that i can loft.
I could create a curved face, project and repeat however i need to create many variations of this so am hoping there is a simple solution similar to orient two point.
I have tried orient two and three point but i need the c plain curve to match the z curve of the mapping shape.
Any help would be very appreciated. I have spent alot of time search before asking here.
Edit: having some trouble adding file and an image so if you would like the file, just dm me.
I feel like I am missing something, in AutoCAD, I am able to grab the viewport and just rotate it as needed, but that doesn't seem the case in Rhino
without them all lofting to one another, i just want to loft lots of different curves to one point without them all lofting together.
Hi, I am a structural engineer "fresh graduate" untill recent I didn't want to work in construction at all. My chances of leaving or working abroad with my degree are hard.. Is it realistic to think of computational design as a career? I think most of the jobs are being done by architectures and mechanical engineers.
I also see it pointless to use rhino in st engineering.. while having Autodesk and CSI products and designing insn't the big deal at all. If anyone have any thoughts, I would like to hear it.
what can you do, how to apply to jobs
The one who introduced Rhino to me is a friend who is a dentist, he did side gigs in the company of his cousin.. he is practising dentist now.
Hello!
I am seeking a command to simply move some grouped curves to a desired plane. For example, say I have the above drawing and I want them moved to the Top plane, what would be a simple command to do so?
Thanks in advance!
I'm working on a project that I want to stay in inch space, but a lot of the dimensions I'm receiving are in mm.
Is there a way to type lengths temporarily in mm without having to type mm every time I enter? I wish I could switch back and forth between inches and mm with a toggle.
Any solution for this?
Not sure what is happening but every time I move my mouse, the material keeps glitching to showing and not showing. Is there a way to fix this?

I have been trying to find the best library for downloaded assets for Rhino 6/7 and found Grabcad. I would like some help if anyone has familiarity with it. In particular, my objects are not showing their textures/materials on rhino.
When I download the asset I want, I open it with Windows Explorer and open the Rhino/autocad file attached. However, my object's textures or materials associated with it, does not transfer into my Rhino file. How can I fix this?
And/or what am I doing wrong?
I attached an example of what I am seeing here.
Please let me know if you can help.
