I have made few projects last week. The weird thing is that I used single mixture and created few items. The top surface which stays exposed stays tacky on few items where as on some items it cures neately. I am not sure why does this happens. Any idea?
The items where it stays tackyihas wide exposed surfaces. The part that touches the silicon mold cures perfectly fine.
Please suggest how to cure this
Would it be possible to replicate this effect on both parts of the sphere? The first time I’ve tried these mould and really like how this half looks
Hi everyone,
I've been making resin a while now but recently realised some ofy products have been going abit yellow. My next big project I'd like to do is a table and a few other bits but I don't want them getting discoloured are there any Resins you can purchase in the UK that stays clear?
Thanks In advance❤️
So, this was the first resin mold I've done - it started out perfect, but it's a very slow drying resin, and I quickly ran into my first issue - flowers float lol. So, no problem, I held it down by a twist tie connected to a skewer, and checked it every hour so I could pull it out once it no longer floated. But I had to go to bed before that happened, and I woke up to the twist tie stuck in a hardening resin. The only way to get the resin out was to drill down, maybe 1/4-1/2 inch.
My thinking was that once the mold fully cures, I can go back with the drill again to get a cleaner cut (the first drill use made it gunky because it was still slightly soft), and then sand the top down and do another layer of resin. But I'm not sure how to handle the hole. Do I need to somehow sand inside the hole? Even if I do, will the hole still be visible once I fill/cover it with epoxy? And can I use painters tape to make a wall around the top so I can just do a topcoat, or will I need to flood coat the whole thing?
I'd appreciate any tips! This is my test piece before I attempt to preserve my wedding flowers 😬. I've looked through a ton of videos and articles, but nothing really seems to address this particular issue, and I want to learn how to do it right, so thanks!
P.S. for the wedding mold I'm thinking I'll lay a foundation layer, and then a very thin layer so I can arrange the flowers without them floating, then pour the rest after it gets to the tacky stage (I have a 4" deep pour resin).
Hello! I'm looking to Commission a custom resin decoration involving a clear cube of resin encasing either a sprig of Holly leaves/berries or a hollyhock flower. I've tried looking on etsy and other stores for something like this, but no one offers it. So, I figured I'd try here. Any advice would be appreciated!
Hello! New to the community and I wanted to share this fun project I made over the weekend! Super customizable for any season!
I’m just starting out trying to sell my pieces, and was wondering what kind of things are the most profitable and frequently purchased. I still want to do what I’m doing now, but adding a decent selection of “grabbers” might help, and branching out into new projects is always fun. Anything people really like getting? Or anything you wish you saw more of?
I read about a technique where you drop alcohol ink into the mold first and pour the resin on top. It almost worked, but I think it was the project that stuck and stained it. Will these mark future resin projects, or has it just marked the mold?
Ive seen videos of people mixing alcohol ink with uv resin and most of them have a white paintbrush. The videos are old so I didn’t bother on commenting.
Does anyone know what type of brush is best for this technique?
This is the first time I move used this mould. I used interference powder with black resin to get the base colour. Then added colours using metallic markers. Quite pleased with myself with this one 😃
My ArtResin was in my hot car for around 3 hours… will it still work😢
For tabletops, pictures, or really any molds
I got some pendant molds but some lay flat and others don’t. How can i get the none flat ones to work for uv resin?
Image added is so you can see the 2 styles i have
the square/diamond shape lays flat and the oval one doesn’t
Indian Ebony, Resin, and Borosilicate Glass. Turned on a lathe and finished with Waterlox.
I made some coasters and painted them, but I want them to be waterproof and have the paint protected so I am resin coating them. I am new to resin so I wanted to know if anyone reccom3nds any techniques for this? They have space in the center making it uneven and I want them to be flat like a normal coaster so would I pour resin in the centers and wait for that to cure, then fully cover it or is there a better way to do that?
