I rescued a 5 yo neutered orange male with significant skin issues, possibly allergy? He was code orange and I rescued him the day he was supposed to be put down. I made a decision go save his life but now I feel in over my head. He was taken to the vet today 11/08 for diagnostics. Prior skin scraping from when he was in the shelter was negative. Vet today prescribed him allergy pills twice daily and shampoo twice weekly. Also will be starting a new rx diet for allergy with Hills z/d. If this doesn’t work he will be doing high dose steroids. His symptoms are bad. He licks and scratches all day long, self mutilating. Fortunately cone helps. I tried the soft cone and he was able to get around it so I had to go back to the standard cone. I’m so embarrassed to admit this but I’m very overwhelmed, feel like I’m way in over my my head. I feel sick and stressed, feeling like I can’t handle this. I have him isolating in my bathroom as I have 2 other cats. Both cats are very stressed. We’re all stressed. He’s a sweet boy, very very sweet. I named him Sunny. Any advice is welcome, or if anyone knows any fosters I can speak with. Please no judgement, I am trying.

She said that all of the shelters in her area are charging fees of up to 400 dollars for adult cats and that didn’t sound right. Does anyone know of any shelters or foster programs in that area that have lower fees of maybe 200 dollars or something? She says she’s scoured pet finder and all her local shelters.

SBCAS is San Bernardino City Animal Shelter also located in Southern California. This is another overcrowded shelter in need of help. Many cats here are overflow from surrounding areas. We need to help empty out this counties Animal shelters at least a few at a time. We are making a small dent in the crisis. Please help and support our efforts. Thank you so much everyone. 🙏🏻

I have a stray colony I've taken care of for a few months in Baltimore. We've gone from four to twelve cats we are feeding nightly and working to spay and neuter to curb more homeless babes coming into the picture. The patio is almost completely finished and it has visitors and overnight guests finally. I feed the community strays nightly between 7 - 9 pm so they aren't dumpster diving or knocking trash cans over scavenging for food. It's also a dangerous area in terms of high traffic and risk of abuse to the animals from juveniles.

We recently had a large wedding we contributed to we are bouncing back from. Financially its a bit more strained taking on the babies' care while situating our household again. I've found a way to safely get the females spayed without returning them to the woods without recuperation time. Just seemed risky to have them returned to woods and risk infections with healing stitches. Got a large cat playpen, separate litter pan and cat bed for them to heal okay without my indoor babies attacking being territorial. Any help with wet food is greatly appreciated and many thanks if able to help. My posts never allow pics to be uploaded so I have to add them in comments but progress has been made, four cats are now eating out of hand. Trying to acclimate them to find homes instead of staying street cats forever. 🤞

There is not to be use of the words euthanasia euthanized or killed in your title or post. These have become known as “TRIGGER” language in subs. Often it’s used to create alarm or guilt for members to get them to pledge, donate or react. It also stirs up much controversy and emotional tension in the community. Members have left the sub even and we do not want that. There is also NO seeking out donations or pledges individually in DM with our members. A couple days ago I made a post looking for advice to rehome my girl Furgie, and the outpouring of advice, direction, and people willing to help has been amazing so firstly I want to thank this community for the support.

I also want to give a special thanks for the few that reached out directly to express interest in homing her! As of today, the friend that has been watching Furgie has made a special bond and is now insisting that she keeps her permanently. So I still get to see her occasionally and she is in a home that I know is safe and stimulating for her.

So again, thank you all for the help, you've been incredible!
